Just reading on the BBC news about Stephen Crean. In a very moving interview he says the Doctors have told him he will never get full use of his injured hand back, maximum 75%. He is left handed ( the damaged one) and works as a printer. He fears for his future livelihood.

He comes across as a very modest hero. Of the money raised for him, around £65000, he says he’s have been happy and content with a few quid to have a drink at his local. Also, that he was thrilled to meet SD and the lads.
What a man! ????????.

Brilliant tribute at the City Ground, to remember the fallen. Like most posts on this subject, I fear for this country now. Did the veterans fight for something, did they die for something? Yes they did, a way of life for us all to enjoy but not to endure. Far to many do gooders crying about human rights for everyone! In my opinion, if you do something wrong, if you break the law that everyone else respects, then you should lose your right to human rights! What about the human rights of decent people, who are attacked, burgled, have cars stolen, are defrauded, are raped, or murdered?
Rant over!
My heart breaks listening to the veterans talking about their mates who didn't come home RIP.

If any of you get the chance visit the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth. When youve been on the magnificent HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the incredible Mary Rose, have a wander across to the Porters Lodge Garden. There, you will see the "Pique stone", a massive rock bigger than a HGV engine block ( and much heavier).
HMS Pique was a small sailing frigate, 5th rate carrying only 36 guns. Commanded by Captain Rous in 1835 she ran aground in uncharted waters off the coast of Newfoundland. Somehow they got her refloated, plugged the holes below the waterline as best they could and, rudderless, sailed her 2700 miles across a stormy Atlantic and home to Portsmouth.

Her manually operated pumps were worked 24/ 7 as they were taking on water at a foot every hour.
Without losing any crew, they got her home. It was only when she was under repair in dry dock that the massive stone was discovered lodged in an enormous hole deep in her hold.
The relevance to football is that our beloved Reds find themselves emblematically, in the same precarious situation.
But with outstanding leadership, a superb skillset and a crew that was hardworking, well trained, disciplined and motivated they survived and lived to fight again another day.
In fact the ship wasn't scrapped until 1910
I see SD in this light.

Great story.
What a boat, they don't make em' like they used to!

Could easily spend a whole day there! Great view from the Premier Inn nearby. Memories of catching the night ferry to St Malo for hols with the children: (before Brexit).

12 Nov 2025 18:33:53
I spent a lot of time in Portsmouth during my student days Norfolk as my girlfriend from Nottingham was training at Southsea College. Plus, I know that Car Ferry journey to St Malo and Bilbao very well….
Happy Days ….

Don't take this the wrong way Stokey, but finally a non footballing post from you i can relate to. The historic dockyard is a great visit, that i did some years ago. I'm interested in military history and to walk the decks of HMS Victory was great. Very little space for crew to live never mind engage battle.

The ship is still in good condition, also the Mary Rose museum well worth it.
Other places to visit, Leeds Armouries and Stirling Castle if past military is your thing. Also visited Winchester this summer, the cathedral being the base for Anglo Saxon kings of England.

12 Nov 2025 20:00:55
Agree with mvred stokey, love my history bud. Good story ?.

13 Nov 2025 15:13:31

14 Nov 2025 23:56:37

Convicted felons like TACO Trumputin shouldn't be allowed to enter the country. That said leaders of terrorist funding countries shouldn't be allowed to enter but we have already rolled the red carpet out the Emir of Qatar. A real terrorist will be allowed to come to the country after he has just paid a visit to the corrupt White House.

14 Nov 2025 20:56:30
The walls of Epstein are closing in on him.
The ghost of Epstein is haunting his nights. The pedo president is going to get caught with his trousers down. It's absolutely comedy gold. He'll try and deflect but fail spectacularly.

14 Nov 2025 21:57:49
His braindead followers and supporters won't accept it and cry 'witch-hunt' from the rafters but all in vain. Worst president in history and by far the most deluded and corrupt.

I've just read an article about Mr M, being on trial in Athens, incitement to riot are the charges! A riot police officer died after being hit by a flare! Surely not our Mr M, he's a nice guy lol.

Rip Colin Addison, lived local to me and my wife was caring for him at Hereford County hospital this week.

03 Nov 2025 22:36:59
Many of his goals were struck from 25 yds or more, one of the hardest shots in football along with Hinton and Lorimer. at the time, with a much heavier ball that soaked up the moisture.

03 Nov 2025 09:13:46
Get well soon to the people on the train on Saturday, especially if any of them are Reds fans from the London area. Fair play to Mr M for offering financial assistance for medical treatment, the man has a heart!

Hope the club pull out the stops to get him to the game on Sunday.

04 Nov 2025 02:22:03
Give him and his mates a corporate box with all the trimmings ?.

02 Nov 2025 19:07:38
I'm just reading that at least one Forest supporter Steven Crean? ( and probably more) on the train "had a go" at the attacker before his arrest. He received knife wounds but looks likely to survive.
Well done fellow Reds and my very best wishes for recovery to the one man still in a life threatening condition in hospital, a LNER staff member.

The train driver, who's quick thinking in raising the alarm and organising help ahead at Huntingdon Station saved many lives, Andrew Johnson, is a former Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer served 17 years and raises funds for the Royal British Legion.
It's very moving to still see heroes come to the fore in dire circumstances.

02 Nov 2025 20:26:30
I've been reading there were a fair number of Forest supporters on that train Stokey. What a nightmare for all involved.

I know that the media always loves to report a 'working class hero' story from such events. But I was reading today about a guy who apparently picked up an empty whisky bottle to defend the people in his carriage from the knife-wielding attackers.

If this is a true story, I'd love to think that bloke is a Red. Wishing a quick recovery to all those injured yesterday. I also wish that swift and severe justice is served on the attackers.

02 Nov 2025 20:54:14
Agree with that Lego, my friend. Apparently it’s one attacker, the other man arrested released without charge. Sounds like a lone butter but time will tell.
Andrew Johnson is a Gulf War veteran, served on a ship engaged in minesweeping operations on the Tigres River.
In that enclosed situation any object will do as a defensive weapon.

I once hit a bloke coming at me using his own TV set in his living room. Yet I never used my truncheon on anybody in 30 years service. Only used it to gain access to houses by smashing a small window then using the leather strap to lift the catch.

02 Nov 2025 21:53:18
Confirmed Steven Crean is an Irish Forest fan Rogie who defended a group of kids on the train and sustained injuries.

02 Nov 2025 23:00:22
I hate a lone butter Stokey.

03 Nov 2025 08:37:32
Butter fingers more like Lego! ??.

03 Nov 2025 19:42:11
I've been reading-up on this guy Steven Crean and also about the Honours System today. I've decided to wait a few days for the full story to filter-through, then - if everything is correct, I will be nominating Steve for an MBE. From what I've read about him so far, this guy thoroughly deserves to be officially recognised for his selfless actions.

From the pictures I've seen of him, he isn't the biggest guy in the world. However, he certainly showed his massive spirit in wanting to protect others during that horrible incident. A proper bloke with a big heart. A Red Dog through-and-through!

Also, I've read more today about the guy stood in the isle with an empty whisky bottle in his hand - trying to protect the people fleeing behind him from the attacker/ s. I don't think this was Steven, so if any of you know who this person is please pass his details onto me. I'll travel anywhere in the UK by train to deliver a fresh bottle of quality whisky to this guy. He deserves it.

03 Nov 2025 21:04:28
Quality whiskey! It was me Lego mate! ??????.

03 Nov 2025 22:45:19
I was hoping you'd say that Stokey! See you next week mate.
