There's talk linking us with De Zerbi. So long as it's not his much less successful Championship brother De Derbi. ????.

I d add quite a few noughts to that Skegs if I were you mate! And that’s if we are lucky. It’s loss of points that will kill us…….

“The name of the club doesn't matter. Every club should be treated equally under the rules set out.

“But the elephant in the room isn't being addressed. 115 charges, zero action. Why? ”.

5.) 16 Jan 2024 09:32:22
There's a cult developing In this fanbase. Some fans am have fallen for the clueless and wreckless owners nonesense about ambition while breaking rules he voted to make last year at the long term expenses of the club. Thankgod for ffp to protect the long term future of clubs from bad ownership. Show some real ambition Instead of being nodding dogs to mariankiss, he sells anyone good buys a team for the money he gets and says that ambition, the ground was announced five years ago nothing, we are a laughing stock under him. Get these out while we're prem and hope for proper owners from USA or suadi.

6.) 16 Jan 2024 18:27:39
My nonsense-meter is twitching!

Owners take a calculated risk to stay in the Prem. Get accused of being wreckless when it works. Fans like being in the Prem are called members of a cult.

The solution: Get owners like the ones at Man United (Glazers? ) or Man city (109 charges and run a country where women celebrate being ALLOWED to drive in 2018),

Forstphil, what team do you support?

I don't usually pay much credence to the comments of Jamie Carragher aka Spit the Punk Dog, but the NEP s reported conversation between him and SC is very interesting and worth a read. It's a good summation of SCs "nightmare"situation under Marinkinakos ( and presumably that situation will be continued under Nunez).
It would appear that SC had no idea of what players ( and in what numbers) would be arriving at the club, despite his oft repeated mantra that he, the owner and the recruitment team were all supposedly "reading off the same page"?
It might be a rare glimpse behind the scenes at our beloved club before the media gag is imposed as part of the terms of SCs payoff.

Tough to see SC go and we have to remain positive about Nuno. Did a great job with Wolves so just got to see how the City ground welcomes him saturday.

Transfers wise, realistically, we sell McKenna and Worrall unless they are given a chance by Nuno. I think we cancel the loans for Montiel, Tavares, santos and origi - they have offered us nothing all season.

Maybe sell Boly as he hates Nuno from their time at wolves and maybe sell Felipe due to injuries (hard for me to say this) but he's a strong leader in the group.

We sign Nino from Fluminense (centre half linked with) and get Omobamidele involved more with 1st team squad

The midfield is sound and we cover - Yates and Mangala start.

We buy another winger who has PL experience to compete with Hudson-Odoi and Elanga (Sancho on loan but doubt that will happen! ) and then we buy a striker. Maybe try and get the lad Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart for 17.5m release clause but he may go elsewhere. Keep Wood as a last minute backup ready for Awoniyi.

2.) 21 Dec 2023 14:12:18
I don't get why we keep going on about players coming in are not the managers choice, it been like that for years now thier is not one manager out their that has control over the players that come in.

A manager years ago would go and scout the player themselves and go back to the owner or chairman and say who they wanted, however we don't have managers anymore they are HEAD COACH who are just told to train the players and its done to the director or football who we bring in, and it's also a lot to do with agents who in my opinion have spoilt the game.

3.) 21 Dec 2023 15:14:21
Lower BC, that’s why we willl never attract any great coaches. Can you imagine Klopp, Pep or Arteta putting up with the interference like SC has had to? Hence, the merry go round of new appointments.

4.) 21 Dec 2023 18:12:51
Do you really think they have that much say on who comes in aswell, good example kelvin Philips great prospect went to man city and has sat on the bench, he was not peps choice of player and it shows pep didn't want him, arteta never wanted ramesdale his first choice was alway raya.

We won't attract no big coach at the moment due to not finishing high enough in the league and no European football.

Who is a top class coach you would like to see though being our head coach, for me I would like Marco rose.

{Ed001's Note - neither of those examples are true, both Pep and Arteta have full control of recruitment.}

5.) 21 Dec 2023 19:40:32
Thought so Ed1. What’s the recruitment agreement at Liverpool with Klopp?

{Ed001's Note - he has final say.}

Dennis also I guess before Ayew. Though, as I say, none of those replacements have pulled any trees up this season . ?.

I have been trying in my own mind to list the players in the squad who, if all fully fit, would form the spine of the team and are essential and nailed on for the best starting 11. I've come up with Navas/ Hendo, Aurier (? ) Felipe, Boly, Lodi, Yates, MGW, Anoniyi and Johnno. So counting the goalkeepers as one because they are equally good imo, of those 9, Boly, Anoniyi and probably Johnno are unavailable ie a third of the first choice players. Anybody disagree with that list and assessment?

StokeyRed

1.) 14 Mar 2023 17:07:49
Just 2 to find for midfield then Stokey. Which is a big talking point atm, I'd like at least one of the Brazilians in there.

2.) 14 Mar 2023 18:06:31
MV mate, I’d probably go with a Christmas tree 4321 with the players available. So same back 5 as per last game ( can’t see SC risking Niakhate for Worrall to start), then Yates, Shelvey and Danilo, the MGW and Scarpa just behind Surridge. If Johnno is available, then he replaces Scarpa at least to start. Depends on his fitness state. Still leaves Williams and Niakhate defensive cover, Colback Freuler in midfield, and Ayew, Lingard etc. As you can see, beyond the core players, we are very thin on the ground in terms of quality.

3.) 14 Mar 2023 19:08:46
It’s a right mess Stokey. Along with the injuries to decent players we only have dross to replace them. Things ain’t working, we are slipping nearer the relegation places but “in Cooper we trust” refuses to change formation or playing staff. Leaving creative match winners like Scarpa and Surridge benched or not even in the squad. And I’m not having that tripe about Scarpa not being ready yet, he didn’t win the golden ball in the top league in Brazil for being “not ready”. But keep on picking the same crap with the same formation, park the bus but still leak goals and see where that gets us. But my guess is that Eeyore, Lingard and Freuler will start against the Toon.

4.) 15 Mar 2023 09:57:00
We now know why Scarpa hasn't been in the squad. He's struggling to afford a new head band atm.

5.) 27 Mar 2023 05:43:23
Probably leaves him out because he doesn't pass backwards enough can't have anyone attacking just don't suit forest style of play lol.

Well what can I say about last night friends? Just about recovered. My wife bought me one of those Fitbit watches and I can tell you my heart rate all evening was above and beyond safety levels.
What an atmosphere! With Liverpool in their retro type white shirts and black shirts I was mentally transported back to those magical CG nights under the lights in the Clough era and the titanic battles against Liverpool. I could still see Colin Barrett's goal being lashed in under my nose as I stood, a young man, in the Bridgford End. I was quite emotional and deeply moved.
The Forest fans never stopped, even when we were under the cosh second half of the second half after their goal. I'll never forget " we're Nottingham Forest well sing on our own" as the Scousers watched unbelieving as we out muscled, out thought and out played them 1st half.
Hats off to the musical genius who adopted "Zombie" by the Cranberries! It wasn't you starting that off was it Bowie. You could hear it across the pitch to the BC Upper quite clearly so, despite Slot denying it, he had it in his ear all evening. Incidentally, the most powerful anti war song even written imo.
We had definitely got in Arnes head. He's a great coach and it's ok being clever and telling the press how Forest play but that's completely different to being able to deal with it. He's probably coached them all week about Forests counter attack but they were still sliced apart inside ten minutes!
A draw was a fair result overall. We dominated them first half, comfortable up to the hour mark then under the cosh last half hour. A pulsating game and a special shout out to Matz Sells. Our defensive organisation was top class, as usual, but Murillo was out of this world. MGW was stifled and Gravenberch and Macallister never far from him. This allowed Anderson to shine and our wingers had the beating of Trent and Robertson through. I've never seen Liverpool so rattled first half. But they came back as all great teams to in the second.

Nice to see you still can't stop yourself from talking too much Stokey! I love your posts mate.

BTW, isn't it strange how music can evoke memories and feelings from long ago? We had a newbie move into our room in Kiseljak, Bosnia in December 1994 and he played Zombie 'on loop'. I loved the song at first, then quickly became sick of hearing it (and him too! ).

May I commend a read of the BBC football site article headed " Can Forest really win the Premier League? "
It's a badly phrased question because any team in the Premier League CAN still win the League mathematically ( even Southampton). It should be what are the odds or probability.
Opta says we have 0% chance of coming top and 0.7% chance of coming second based on various statistics which I won't bore you with.
The bookies think so to. Yet here we are. When will the bubble burst?
I guess the it's like the scientists working out that a bee shouldn't be able to fly. What do we think?

1.) 13 Jan 2025 22:57:14
My heart says that we're on to qualify for European football, but my head says that we're going to drop down to 8th-10th place by the end of the season. I do prefer to follow my heart in life though!

2.) 14 Jan 2025 13:00:19
Stats are an incredible science now mate as you know. They’re not usually wrong in the betting industry because billions of quid are at stake. However, I don’t know about you but I like a battle against the odds. We’ve done it before when Cloughie got us promotion then to the league title. Mind you, he was a one off genius and the playing field was a bit more level in those days before the money men came in….

12 Jan 2025 11:19:22
Can't add much more to Scouses excellent and pithy summary from yesterday. Professional job well done, good run out for the squad players, no apparent injuries ( though I couldn't work out the thinking behind bringing 4 first choice subs with the game sewn up and 20 to go ( but in Nuno we trust) and the return of Danillo ( and the welcome he got) key players rested.
Individually.
A chance for Taiwo to either put himself in the shop window or make a challenge to Woody but he did neither.
Dominquez did very well ( he absolutely flattened their centre back challenging for a cross second half).
Yates doing what he does best, going toe to toe against a mediocre but robust team, led by example in what could have been a banana skin game, good goal and the shot that hit the crossbar could have been a contender for goal of the season an inch lower.
Boly man of the match for me, steady, dominant, confident on the ball.
Sosa looks a real prospect, Da Silva superb, both serious challenges to Elanga and CHO.
Young Morieta, like Sosa, looks a great prospect, Toffolo steady, Morena likewise.
Difficult to draw many conclusions against this opposition but, on the other hand, we started with a team that had never played together before.
Bring on Liverpool ( who, oddly, started with a fairly strong side against Accrington). Tuesday will be their 4 th game in 9 days, for us 3 games in 8 days but crucially MGW, Sels, Anderson, Aina, Williams, Murillo, Malenkovic rested wholly and others just a bit part.

StokeyRed

1.) 12 Jan 2025 14:13:09
Apparently nuno was worried 8 days with no game was too long for the whole starting 11 hence bringing on our attacking 4.

10 Jan 2025 19:00:49
We must get the job done tomorrow comrades. We don't want extra time replays like against Blackpool last season. I think it set us back League wise. We have to conserve our energy and resources imo and be at it right from the off.

StokeyRed

1.) 10 Jan 2025 20:19:28
I'm personally not that bothered about tomorrow Stokey. Field our 2nd team and if we lose, we lose. I think we have bigger and better things to aim for!

4.) 10 Jan 2025 22:45:10
If we were on about 25 points I think Nuno would prioritise the FA Cup. However as things stand we have to be pragmatic. We have a real opportunity here.

If the 2nd string is good enough to navigate the first couple of rounds, things might change. Could you imagine the amount of stick he would get if one of our 1st team nailed on starters got injured tommorow.

Anyway leave it with him, he's not doing too bad is he.

5.) 11 Jan 2025 11:49:29
You’re right Redstripe it’s extra time and penalties today mate. ?.

Apparently, all the residents around Colwyn Bay, Morecambe Bay and Cardigan Bay are taking part in a televised coughing competition. It's called " The Great British Bay Cough " if you fancy watching it? ??.

I've just put my dogging gear up for sale on E Bay. I've had no bids yet but 15 people are watching ???.

So, Paddy and Mick are chatting in a pub.
Paddy says " Mick, I'm thinking of buying a Labrador dog"
Mick says " Feck that for a bad idea Paddy. Have you seen how many Labrador owners go blind"? ????.

I live at Cardigan Bay and I don't know a single resident coughing, especially me.
My wife leaves for Australia on Monday for a month. Visiting our twin grandkids for their 3rd B'day. One month of me, the dog, a nutritional diet of trifle, bear claws and JD&Coke whilst watching Star Trek movies and listening to my music loud. Add Forest games into the mix and a heavenly month in store.

Good post Targa, though of course character and personality are inportant as well as football skill. We don t want any big time Charlies in our well motivated, tight knit squad. It only takes one bad apple…. but at the end of the day it’s a business and we trust our excellent recruitment team to do a job mate.

I hope you are right Scouse mate. I fear that we might struggle with our small squad of genuine quality players if we get a few injuries or suspensions, particularly key players like MGW, Woody, Mikenkovic and ( i'm keeping my fingers crossed) Murillo. I hope I’m wrong though….

Niakhate has definitely gone through and Mangelas transfer clause has been activated and will be confirmed on his imminent return from the Euros after Belgiums defeat by France mate. Plus the voyage of Odysseus continues with his next adventure in Newcastle …….
Alls well! ??
Plus I think young Anderson will be a big hit at the WFCG I predict. I also like the return to Dane Murphy’s strategy of buying young players with a big sell on value.
I’m reluctant to say this too early friends but I see a glimmer of optimism and common sense creeping into our transfer policy!

Yes, I don’t think it’s maliciously meant, just that the syllables scan superbly into the iambic pentameters that the learned Scousers use in their rhymes. Started with Chaucer and passed onto Liverpool by the great Mersey Sound poets Adrian Henri, Brian Patten and Roger McGough, all of whom realised the ubiquity of decasyllabic verse forms. Or perhaps they just hate us……????.

I thought it was a foul on Sells. The player is not obliged to move out of the keepers way but I thought he was actually grappling with him to prevent him getting to the ball. A foul in any other part of the pitch.
Corners are a shambles so it’s a difficult one for the ref. I don know if it was actually VARd. The replays I’ve just watched show a definate obstruction but there’s a lot going on in the box.

I know Llandysul very well Targa mate. I was at University at Lampeter down the road and played football against Llandysul in the old Cardiganshire League. I remember the games were always a bit feisty as we were mainly English ( the Welsh lads generally played Rugby) so every game was like Wales v England. As there were no professional clubs anywhere near there were always “ crowds” of a few hundred. We had a very good team and in the 3 years I was there ( 2 as captain) we never finished below 3rd and reached the Bay Cup final twice. It was a time of a Labour Government, late 1970s so we had grants to support working class lads like me in further education. So most of our team had been on the books of professional clubs then opted for education rather than sport.
I remember Llandysul were quite racist. We had a black London lad playing for us who’d been at Arsenals Academy, lovey lad, about 6’3” always top scorer in the League, who got some right abuse. Had a few fights there as well and we invariably won ( both fight and game).
Newcastle Emlyn were the Manchester City of that League but, like them, cheated. They were paid as semi pros and won everything in an amateur league supposedly!
