Dwight O Neill on loan anyone? Well known to SD and could do a job for us. Probably glad to re unite with his former boss and put his playing career back together after being shafted by Palace and unwanted by Moyes at Everton ….

Yes I’d take a couple of players the manager wants. We’re stuck with him so may as well get some players in who he can get the best out of. I’m disappointed with the window. We should have got rid of six and replaced them with players that fit the coaches style.
It says to me the writing is in the wall and EM wishes to refrain from investing in players for a coach he intends to dispense with come the end of the season.
I wish we’d invest in him as like it or not Dyche is probably where it’s at for us.

. As long as he doesn't bring his bleating, embarrassing Mrs Sharpley along.
04 Feb 2026 08:46:29
We can't the window is shut and he's not a free agent thank god as he's not much good.
04 Feb 2026 10:57:50
Always seems to either score or assist against us.
04 Feb 2026 11:09:16
DTP I believe there are ways around this perhaps? Emergency loans or, in O’Neills case pay up his Everton contract making him a free agent?
04 Feb 2026 12:00:34
I’m not sure how it works now, there used to be a loan window but not sure now.
In any case we had enough time to bring players in that the coach can get something out of. We’re now stuck with a squad that he doesn’t rate and can’t work with. The road to relegation in my opinion.
I get not wanting to build a big squad for a coach on borrowed time but we could surely have got a few out on loan and a couple in on loan. Weird.
04 Feb 2026 12:10:45
Not a chance Everton want 20 million
Not going to happen.
04 Feb 2026 12:57:53
"Stuck with a squad he doesn't rate and can't worj with"
2 Gold stars. Do you have some inside information.?
All the interviews I have seen. Dyche suggests he is very happy with the group and their attitude.
04 Feb 2026 13:13:38
Apparently Palace tried to change the deal at the eleventh hour from buying him to loan with obligation to buy at end of season. Can't really see any benefits in us getting him, as he's a squad player at Everton, and there supporters think his best seasons are behind him!.
As a Dad, I bet Sean will be pleased that his Son scored last night for Northampton, hasn't shown any nepotism to him, making his own way in the game.
04 Feb 2026 13:41:51
Gold Stars, mate, you ( and a couple of others on here) keep posting ad nauseam that SD is “on borrowed time “. Whilst I respect your opinion can I make a few points….
Firstly, it’s a meaningless phrase. Virtually every manager ( unless you’re in the elite, like a Klopp, an Arteta or a Guardiola) is on “borrowed time”.
Secondly, if you’re doomed to have the trigger happy Greek as your owner, you’re “borrowed time “ is generally shorter than most anyway. Your fate as a manager at our basket case club is roughly the same as Star Treks red shirted security teams or Darth Vader’s Death Star Captains….
Thirdly, SD is a vastly experienced manager.
He knows it’s a results dominated business. At the moment, it may surprise you to know that he is a very narrow percentage point in win ratio in 2nd place than our best ever manager Brian Clough. That list goes back to the days of Billy Walker and Johnny Carey but omits those managers with less than 10 games in charge.
Plus, he’s our third manager this season and has had less than 4 months in charge.
Finally, apropos of nothing, the monotonous and repetitive playing of the same piece of music over and over long period of time has been held to be a form of torture in the International Court of Human Rights. No offence, just saying ….
??????.

Love it Stokey. Very elongated but also eloquent put down.
04 Feb 2026 15:02:06
Grand Moff Tarkin lasted a while Stokey??.
04 Feb 2026 15:18:25
If he doesn't rate or can't work with a squad this talented, it's far cheaper to get rid of the coach than the players.
04 Feb 2026 15:24:22
So you agree he’s on borrowed time. If EM saw a future for SD more players to his liking would have been signed. Like Stoke and Pulllis, Dyche and Friends is where it’s at for forest. I would have sooner we accept it and give him the players allied to the style of play he promotes.
We should have done that but we haven’t because he won’t be here next season so the owner won’t invest in him.
04 Feb 2026 18:11:12
Stokey the first thing that let's that long post down is the word "manager" no one is the manager at forest, just a coach, nothing more
The whole style of play and players that have been signed are for a counter attacking system, which is something dyche doesn't play.
The recruitment team will stay.
04 Feb 2026 18:17:05
Good Post Stokey.
It's unfortunate that Wood has been injured as he is his man all day long, Luca may just fit into that mold when he gets chance.
To be fair, Dyche would never have been my first choice but he has been dealt a poor hand preparation wise but just gets on with it. I think he will keep us up to be honest.
I would expect him to be replaced in the Summer with probably Marco Silva coming in. Yes I know Fulham are higher but we have great financial backing that he hasn't had there and hasn't hid his dissappointment about.
04 Feb 2026 18:32:43
I am a bit old fashioned DTP as regards managers and coaches. As far as counter attacking style is concerned, have you already forgotten the 2 goals at Brentford?
I think the answer to the 3 in, 3 out transfer window is not so much a lack of backing for SD but ( more prosaically) the fact that the recruitment team spaffed all the available money for Nuno at the start of the season mate. Luckiky, Dyches style is very similar luckily after the Ange interlude. One of SDs many attributes is that he can do a lot with what he’s got.
I think, as I’ve said many many times, it’s a case of consolidation and building stability this season after Nunos disaffection and the disaster that was Postacoglau, then go again next season, building on the foundation set by the present coach.
Gazzi, mate, it wasn’t meant as a put down to Gold Stars or anyone. After all, he could be entirely right. Who knows what’s going on in the owners mind?
I was just pointing out the fatuousness of the phrase “ borrowed time” in relation to football coaches…….
04 Feb 2026 18:49:54
He doesn't set up to counter attack at all though, just gets forced on him sometimes, ie brentford
No large unnecessary words wnere needed or harmed in this post.
04 Feb 2026 18:52:07
Your probably right gingerkid, Silva is also out of contract at the end of this season.
04 Feb 2026 19:30:14
So, Brentford “forced” Dyche to counter attack DTP. How do you even do that mate?
04 Feb 2026 20:51:53
Push a side back with possession simple.
04 Feb 2026 21:46:17
You play Hutchinson instead of dominguez if you go out to counter attack stokey, who did dyche pick?
Its that simple and you have no defence in any argument against that, big words or not.
04 Feb 2026 22:57:54
Ok DTP, mate, let me put it another way. How many goals can you remember us scoring this season by lumping it long, which is, apparently, Dyche ball? Apart from set pieces of course.
I’m sure sometimes we are watching different teams……. I've deliberately eschewed big words in this post …. ????.
