Just a thought Skegs. With all these U turns, are you Kier Starmer. In disguise? π₯Έ πππ.
18 Oct 2026 21:12:32
You tell us stokey as you voted for him.
18 Oct 2026 21:37:34
Welcome back Titchmarsh, i hope Stevie is doing well. ππ³.
19 Oct 2026 09:36:22
I actually think he could have done a better job than Starmer. I'm glad you have returned and team Skeggs is back up to full strength mate. It's been ridiculously easy in your absence but also frustrating. Talking football has been like trying to explain Quantum Physics to 5 year olds.
17 Oct 2026 16:27:33
Just occurred to me that I've been to Athens twice and been past the Olympiacos stadium 4 or 5 times. On every occasion ( morning, afternoon and evening, matchday or not) the roads around it were gridlocked.
The roads in question included a 3 or 4 lane motorway from the Port of Piraeus into Athens city centre and airport on the city outskirts.
Perhaps pedestrian or motorised transport access just isn't a factor for Mr M or the local Council?
17 Oct 2026 17:02:03
Mossy
Just googled Zafran Khan, the suspended Sheriff of Nottingham. I'm amazed that an adherent of the religion of Peace is involved in that sort of thing mate.π€π.
18 Oct 2026 07:30:59
Yes, A little investigation sure opens an whole"Khan" of worms.
Stokey, knowing roughly the area you grew up In from your previous posts, and you had a passion for the written word as a youngster, you may have used the library in Lenton/Radford, on the 31st of October they are celebrating 100 years being open, one of the few Libraries that escaped the Council cuts!.
18 Oct 2026 11:47:02
Very good Mossy! ππ. I think Khan has been found guilty at the Council hearing. I'd assume the facts and circumstances will be passed on to Notts Police to at least investigate ( though it may not meet the threshold for criminal charges or amount to misconduct in public office.) He's certainly a shameless grifter mate.
I'm very pleased about any library surviving the cuts. I strongly believe public library closure is a sure sign of civilisational decline. Besides which, libraries pay for themselves in the long term in terms of investment in education. An educated workforce is a big asset to any country. Opportunity creates wealth and progress in every field. It's why the right wing hates it.
I never used the library at Lenton. We'd moved to Bestwood Park Estate when I was about 7 or 8 when I began to read seriously.
I was a member of 3 libraries as a kid ( Northern at Bulwell, Aspley opposite the Commodore and Basford which backed onto Vernon Park. There was a restriction of 3 books per library for a fortnight before you had to renew and I easily got through those. As a kid I was mad on Captain WE John's Biggles series ( around 70 odd books I think) and any of the great adventure stories like Robin Hood, The Knights of the Round Table, Ben Hur etc. I'd read anything I could get my hands on and my fantastic parents bought be classics and sea stories. Hence onto Jack London, Herman Melville, etc
Thence, as a teenager, to Nottm Central Library ( didn't like Angel Row much, too rowdy) then Nottm University Library.
19 Oct 2026 12:30:56
The Aspley one near me closed, Basford also gone, only Bulwell still open and the Mary Potter centre which are reachable for me.
19 Oct 2026 14:02:51
Very sorry to hear that Mossy. Closing libraries is a false economy definitely.
22 Oct 2026 21:24:13
All those libaries?
Dibn't teach you to be quiet though π€£π€£π€£π€£.
23 Oct 2026 17:08:04
I am a fairly quiet sort of a bloke DTP but I have a very sensitive bullπ© antenna which keeps going off when I read some posts on here.
Anyway, it's "didn't " not Dibn't ! πππππππ£.
23 Oct 2026 19:25:12
Well spotted Dreyfus ππ€£π€£.
23 Oct 2026 19:39:37
Ps stokey i believe its you that took the bait ππ€£.
23 Oct 2026 19:46:19
Believe whatever you like mate, if it makes you happy. Anyway, hush now, I've got a football match to watch.π.
23 Oct 2026 19:50:57
You can't catch anything when fishing without using some bait
Obvoisly a subject you know nothhimg about π£ππ€£.
16 Oct 2026 22:51:14
Shouldn't be like this, but I'm not at all looking forward to tomorrow.
18 Oct 2026 11:53:44
Bse I share your sense of dread. Everyone of right mind hates seeing something they love suffer.
But I console myself that I have lived to see us reach the ( short lived ) heights of Johnny Carey's team and the 18 years glory of the Brian Clough era.
Today and the past 4 seasons, despite the struggles in 3 of them and this one, I'm just thrilled that we have one of the best teams in the World visiting.
Plus seeing, in my twilight years, the elite sides playing at the WFCG. And competing with them.
Hope that helps mate?
16 Oct 2026 11:24:47
Bowie, mate, saw Phil Wang last night. Very funny and does a wicked David Bowie impression plus a wicked skit on of one of my favourite Bowie songs "China Girlβ. You'd have loved it.
16 Oct 2026 17:54:29
π€£π€£ glad you enjoyed bud,π not gonna watch though π.
16 Oct 2026 18:54:22
Just telling Lego we've got Jack Dee and Bill Bailey coming up mate. Are they more to your taste? π.
16 Oct 2026 21:55:48
Bill Bailey is a very talented man who I like, but I'd go for Jack Dee easily in a choice between the two.
13 Oct 2026 19:05:36
Big M, the only one with an overdraft on managers. Myself I've tried everything on AI to get his young laddie in. Didn't work. But he did blow up the sheep and bin dippers grounds. Tip to Big M., told ya,you were better off taking over Poundland, and Shawarma greek food fast outlets. But no. You just couldn't understand Geordie π«’.
13 Oct 2026 19:36:59
You say what? ππ³.
12 Oct 2026 21:33:47
"Living the Skegness dreamβ now that's funny Jay! Made me chuckle and fair play to Ballons for having your back. The Skegness Massive are back in the house!βοΈπβ±οΈ.
13 Oct 2026 10:00:31
It was funny the first time Perko but after being repeated around 100 times, less so mate.π΄π΄π΄π΄.
13 Oct 2026 19:15:31
Repeatedly repeating the same thing, annoying isn't it, what was that stat about Cretaceous Dyches record again? π€π³.
14 Oct 2026 08:54:04
But I have to repeat things to help the hard of thinking, like you RRH.ππ΄π£.
14 Oct 2026 15:45:57
So now you are calling me thick, nice oneπ.
14 Oct 2026 17:50:42
Well, seeing as you've brought it up RRH I must say from your posts that you blow hot and cold mate. Some posts are perceptive and intelligent ( which I've always remarked on) but others are bullying and foolish.
So I'd say that you don't appear to be as dim as Skeggs and Larry, but you are certainly, in my opinion, on the spectrum.
Hope that answers your question?
14 Oct 2026 20:15:43
I hope you aren't looking for sympathy RRH. I judge a person by the company he keeps mate. ππππ.
14 Oct 2026 20:18:44
Typical from those of your former profession. Not liked by any but you're own and backside kissing grasses.
Larry and Skegs are great guys, i really enjoy live chat with them on, and Ant n Dec, better not leave him out. And of course π΄, πΈ and fingers, Wayland and Bsered. If i forgot any of you i do apologise. We make a good balanced bunch with a broad spectrum of football knowledge. Differing views and ideas on tactical approach and styles, thats what makes this site so good.
But then there are those like yourself who think they are better than the rest of us, always looking down you're nose at us. It makes me laugh that you call me a bully, coming from the supposedly 'more intelligent man', the same 'more intelligent man' who resorts to questioning peoples intelligence when they don't agree with you.
I'm not sure who you are trying to impress, because most of us are knuckle dragging Neanderthals according to the 'more intelligent man'. By the way a mistake I've made, calling out peoples spelling mistakes, only makes you look like a π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬. As for grammar mistakes, mine are as terrible as any, unless i actually engage my brain.
So all in all, you are a pompous π€¬π€¬π€¬π€¬ that deserves zero respect, questioning peoples intelligence and especially, especially calling out people for repeating themselves (what is that Dyche stat?). ππ³ (might as well play your silly immature games and add these) π£π£π£π£.
15 Oct 2026 09:20:20
Perhaps just as well my reply wasn't published RRH.
I'll just say I spent my career going head to head with mob handed, bullying d'heads so it's like water off a ducks back to me.
In fairness, I did use the phrase "from your postsβ.
In real life you and your gang could be perfectly decent human beings.
Which begs the obvious question as to why you all behave like ignorant dipπ©s on here?
15 Oct 2026 12:54:41
As for your anti Police tirade, well, you are entitled to your opinion and there are good and bad in every profession, but in my experience it's people like you who quickly overcome their distaste for the Police when things go wrong and they can't come bleating for help quickly enough.
15 Oct 2026 13:14:01
I think you'll find i don't belong to a gang, I'm just me, like it or lump it. Marmite you might say. Ignorant dipstick?. Again those that don't agree with you need labelling. As for bullying lol, take a scroll down the banter pages, there is a certain poster who literally can't post a single comment without you interfering.
So please tie up that high horse of yours. ππ³.
15 Oct 2026 14:19:30
Anyways. waist on the beach this morning watching the locals mining for Lugworms i thought to myself.
πΆ "We dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig
From early morn 'til night
We dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig
Up ev'rything in sight" πΆ
The perfect bait catches the biggest prize. π

Whatever you say Yoda.ππππ.
15 Oct 2026 15:23:00
Yoda trumps Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin every day of the week. π.
15 Oct 2026 17:32:22
Ok Jabba as you say π΄π.
15 Oct 2026 21:45:23
Winter - despite being of Cornish-origin (!), I think you're a top guy with a sharp mind and a good SOH. I find it hard to understand why you and Stokey are locking horns.
After spending time with Stokey face-to-face, I can assure you that he is none of the things that you accuse him of. The guy struck me as well-educated, yet full of empathy and compassion. OK he's a former Pig and we all joke about that - but he is a man with a large heart who, I can assure you from personal stuff going on here, is a loyal person who can be relied on for support and wise advice in times of need.
Put the handbags away Gentlemen!!
16 Oct 2026 09:36:54
For my part, im afraid i can't apologise this time. As you well know the need for confrontation with Janners and their Northern Brethren runs deep within my kind.
Especially the ones who pick on those with little to no ability to defend themselves. Likewise with many similar traits hide within those poor fools who stand idol, whilst four and five syllable words formed as insults fly over said heads.
I often reach deep beneath the surface and find within the depths inspiration from St Piren himself, the Kernow Crusader, cape and all, comes to the fore.
I take it upon myself to battle Beelzebub and his human formed Minions, yellow or not. I can't help but think, no wonder the Irish exiled St Piran when he inspires such fool hardy and imbecilic behaviour.
Also blame can be forwarded to the Capricorn in me, horns needing to be locked, after all, its in my nature. πππ£π³.
16 Oct 2026 14:21:36
I'm Capricorn too. Explains alot.
Keep out of my way and I'll keep out of yours
How's that for a solution ?
16 Oct 2026 14:29:31
Im to erratic to fall out with anyone for more than an hour or so, its done as far as im concerned. π.
16 Oct 2026 18:38:30
*too Winter.
Sorry mate, I'm joking! I couldn't resist.
16 Oct 2026 18:47:17
Whatever Janner in disguise. ππ³.
16 Oct 2026 19:08:06
And so we get to the bottom of the issue - two stubborn Capricorn 'Goats' locking horns with each other, with neither prepared to back-down!
I used to think that the whole starsign character-traits thing was a load of old tosh until a nurse lent me a book about the subject in the recovery ward. I was hooked and read it cover-to-cover twice. I'm now a firm believer! Being a typical Scorpio I like Capricorns.
Look me up if you're on FB Winter. I feel that the Eds, rightly so, aren't keen on posting 'real names'. Just google the book 'Finding my Feet Again' and you'll find me.
I'm glad you two are no longer locking horns.
16 Oct 2026 20:42:44
I don't do social media mate, well apart from this if it counts. Lifes complicated enough. Used to use it and found it's just basically peacocks flashing their feathers, hundreds of 'friends' lol, that you don't really know or have any interest in talking to.
Plus it gets me out of stupid family 'Face time'. I know, i know it sounds miserable but that's how i like it. ππ³.
16 Oct 2026 20:43:47
And I don't need to google your book lol, its on my shelf. π.
16 Oct 2026 21:32:29
A true story which may make you Capricorns chuckle on a Friday evening:
The nurse who lent me the star sign book was originally from Poland, married to a Janner, with an attractive Polish/Devon accent. She was brilliant - very attentive/caring, beautiful and with fluent English. She also happened to be a Capricorn with a very dry SOH which I loved. Basically, in my 'moments of clarity' - I fancied the knickers off her.
Do you remember the days of old when you'd wake up with a screaming hangover on Sunday morning knowing that you'd said or done something really embarrassing the night before on a night out - but can't clearly recall what you did? I woke up one morning and had the same feeling. The nurse came in and said good morning to me. I plucked up the courage and asked her what the hell I'd done the evening before.
Whilst sorting out my bedspace and without even looking at me she said that I had told her to get into bed with me. She then looked me in the eye, gave me a small wink, and told me "I said no - it's not big enough".
I'm still trying to convince myself she was talking about the size of the bed.
16 Oct 2026 22:31:58
Coincidentally I'm currently reading " The English Civil War " by Diane Purkess. Only the English call it by that name. Everyone else calls it " The War of the Five Nationsβ. That would be England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall all regarded even in the 1640's as seperate because they largely spoke their own languages ( albeit the local rulers were mostly English).
Cornwall declared virtually entirely for the King, hoping to be granted some form of independence.
They won most of the early battles until the New Model Army under Fairfax ( like the first team) turned up and won everything and took back control for the Roundheads.
Lego, your man Carew and his family unfortunately backed the losing side and suffered as did Cornwall generally under Cromwell's protectorate.
17 Oct 2026 00:11:00
A good sword and a trusty hand
A merry heart and true
King James's men shall understand what Cornish lads can do
And have they fixed the where and when?
And shall Trelawny die?
Here's 20 thousand Cornish men will know the reason why
And shall Trelawny live, or shall Trelawny die?
Here's twenty thousand Cornish men will know the reason why
Out spake their Captain brave and bold, a merry wight was he
If London Tower where Michael's hold will set Trelawny free
We'll cross the Tamar, land to land, the Severn is no stay
With one and all, and hand in hand
And who shall bid us nay?
And shall Trelawny live, or shall Trelawny die?
Here's 20 thousand Cornish men will know the reason why
And when we come to London wall
A pleasant sight to view
Come forth, come forth, you cowards, all his men as good as you
Trelawny, he's in keep and hold
Trelawny, he may die
Here's 20 thousand Cornish bold
Will know the reason why
And shall Trelawny live, or shall Trelawny die?
Here's 20 thousand Cornish men will know the reason why.
Cornish national anthem. Sang with great pride during the march across Perranporth sand dunes on St Pirans day. π³.
17 Oct 2026 11:29:30
As for what the Polish nurse meant Lego, you keep dreaming mate. πππ.
08 Oct 2026 19:10:56
Not been on for a while so just read something has happened to Stevie F.
Always liked your posts mate. Best wishes and hope to see you back on here soon.
10 Oct 2026 19:53:05
I've just been given the heads-up privately by Stokey about Stevie F's situation relayed by Bowie. Superb news. Being an old-school Bootneck, it doesn't surprise me that Stevie pulled through the process despite the complications. These guys are made of tough-stuff!!
I better explain - the nickname Bootneck was given to the Royal Marines by the other armed services back in the year dot. They used to cut up the leather from old boots and secure this around their necks to reduce the risk of having their throats cut in hand-to-hand combat.
Tough guys.
I'm tickled pink for Stevie.
11 Oct 2026 09:20:51
Very interesting historical post Lego. I think the Marines started in the days of wooden sailing warships to board other ships and prevent mutiny. Inspired by Rogie and " The African Queen " film im reading the CS Forester Hornblower series where the Marines play a big part
Never do a stroke of work on board though unless the ship is sinking π.
11 Oct 2026 22:09:59
He's a commando veteran stokey bud. π and good post lego π.
12 Oct 2026 12:25:14
Yes I know Bowie mate and I have made a point of always according him the greatest of respect and admiration for that, as I do all veterans.
07 Oct 2026 09:17:02
How is Stevie (aka Kev) doing? Did DTP get any news?
09 Oct 2026 14:26:50
Not yet keef bud.
06 Oct 2026 11:04:23
In this seemingly interminable lull in the action, I've been looking at a couple of statements from NASA and other scientists which made me realise that, should be ever be tempted to get too big for our boots on here ( and I include myself in this) we should recognise how insignificant we are in the Universe and how exaggerated are the importance of our lives and opinions in the unimaginable vast scheme of things.
Voyager 1 ( the space probe famously containing a golden disc with music ranging from Mozart to Chuck Berry, the sound of a human baby crying, whales communicating, waves breaking on a shore and greetings in 55 different languages. Also, a helpful cosmic map showing where we are) was launched in September 1977 and is still travelling as we speak at 38,000 mph.
Bearing in mind that light travels at 186,000 miles per SECOND, on November 17th ( at around 2. 10am Florida time) it will have achieved one light DAY in distance from the Earth. Radio signals take 24 hours each way to reach Earth. Voyager 1 will lose contact entirely in 2036 but will keep travelling forever.
The nearest star ( apart from our Sun) is 4 and a half light years away. So even travelling at 186,000 miles per second, it would take that amount of time to reach it.
The Andromeda Galaxy is travelling towards ours ( the Milky Way) and in 4 billion years time will merge. The night sky will contain around 3 times more stars than now and our well known constellations will change shape entirely into new ones. It will be quite a sight but no human eye will see it.
Anyway, take care folks and have a good day ππ.
06 Oct 2026 14:09:42
Stokey, In 1990 as Voyager was leaving our solar system and the camera being switched off, it turned and took a photos called " The Pale Blue Dot", it was Earth surrounded in darkness, at that time it should have been a wake up call for how fragile our existence is.
06 Oct 2026 16:55:48
I remember that iconic photo very well Mossy. I couldn't ( and still can't) get my head round all that suffering and conflict, yet beauty and wisdom in one small world mate.
I felt the same on an Emirates flight to visit my stepson who was working in Dubai around 10 years ago. The inflight map of our route showed us, unbelievably, flying directly over Irbil in Kurdistan Iraq where, 30, 000 feet beneath our feet, surrounded by luxury, people were killing each other in their thousands.
Two worlds eh?
On a lighter note, the original piece of classical music on Voyager 1's golden disc was going to be JS Bachs " Goldberg Variationsβ. It's such a mathematically perfect and beautiful piece of music that Carl Sagan the Harvard astromer working with NASA on the Voyager project vetoed it on the grounds that aliens would think we were just showing off. He went with Chuck Berry and a 3 minute aria from Mozarts " Magic Fluteβ.π.

"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away."π³.
06 Oct 2026 22:57:18
My all time piece of classical music is (trois gymnopodies) by Eric sate. Plz give it a whirl. Fell upon it accidentally by one of Gary numans b sides I think it was. Beautiful relaxing piece of work. π₯°.
07 Oct 2026 09:50:06
London Symphony Orchestra, composed by John Williams, the iconic songs from Star Wars, have it saved on Spotify, beautiful, powerful and addictive. π³.
07 Oct 2026 10:45:01
Very familiar with that piece Bowie, my first wife was a very good pianist and played Eric Satie often. My daughter could never pronounce the name of that tune so she called it " the Chiropody musicβ and it's known as that to this day.π.
07 Oct 2026 17:28:30
John Williams very moving music from ". Schindlers Listβ does it for mate. Heartbreaking and beautiful.
One of my favourite film themes is Michael Kamens wonderful score from " Band of Brothersβ.
Bowie, for relaxing music I love Beethovens 6th Symphony the Pastoral. It's got a wonderful sense of humour and humanity to it as well, as when he speeds up the peasants dancing music as the thunderstorm approaches and they dash for shelter.
Vaughn Williams " Lark Ascending " is a perfect evocation of a hot summers day in England. only an Englishman could have written it.
Beethovens " Moonlight Sonata' and the second movement of the Emperor Piano. Concerto takes all your troubles away mate.
07 Oct 2026 17:49:11
RRH
John Williams Star Wars theme is certainly stirring stuff mate π.
08 Oct 2026 17:59:01
