This rowing building 1951 seems very close to ya sir. A building can contain so many memories for us all. Some call it there home or home they left . Nevertheless the bricks and mortar once brought down bye the ignorance of those who say so leave an emptiness . I hope you can rebuild this building somewhere else around ya son. Just saying ?

Bowie, as I have said before my friend and his colleagues from Forest and County visited the Britt many times. Their is past links here as well with top artists and groups from the states as well as UK. I myself rowed for this club and count myself as useful in this sport, we were the bread and butter club, not the privilege type as the sport gives the impression. Just don't like to see the doors closing on my past, it happens .

I remember as a teenager going to discos at the Britannia. Saw a young Rod Stewart and Roxy Music there. It’s amazing to remember how small the stage was and how people were off to the bar and generally milling about talking etc during the acts. Remember thinking how weird but charismatic Roxy and Bryan Ferry were.
Got to see both artists as a grown up, Bryan Ferry several times ( my wifes in love with him still, she saw him close up at Trentham Gardens as a teenager, close up, him wearing tight leather trousers, an experience from which she never fully recovered) .
I saw Rod at the Brittania Stadium (strange coincidence) on the day we were knocked out of the World Cup I think by Balotellies goal against Italy.
