There is a rumour that Newcastle will bid for MGW. Every player has his price. My major worry is the current recruiting team at the club and the influence the manager might have. Look at what we did with BJs funds. The number of players bought that never played, the salaries that they took with them. The money from MGW will on the past record be completely wasted I always suspected if SC got another job, MGW would follow however all is quiet regarding SC. We shall see but the vultures are gathering.

Doc we are undoubtedly a very badly run club. Mr M, for all his investment, has spaffed loadsamoney on, at best, mediocre players who have hardly contributed ( Bowler, Mbe So, Dennis etc) or players who are clearly past their best and in the twilight of their careers ( Lingard, Felipe ( although we got one vital season out of him) Turner, Vlach and don't even get me started on Lingard. ) Mr M, with his impetuous nature, has led him to try to run before he can walk. So, abandons the successful model under Dane Murphy ( recruit young, talented players on the rise who can be, if necessary, sold on to balance the books in hand with investment in our Academy. Of course, SC was recruited with this in mind. Mr M is the worst kind of owner in many respects flip flopping between strategies.
I was reminded looking at Wolves on Saturday how they had coped with FFP by selling one or two key players like Jimenez to balance the books then re building. Not only are they comfortably mid table but don’t have any points deductions. That’s how a club should be run in the spectacularly unfair Premiership set up. Proceed with caution and build up slowly and avoid disaster.
I’ll bet if one of the big man’s captains had warned him that one of his super tankers was heading for an ice berg he would have ordered him to change course!

Good post again Stokey.
A very badly run club. Many awful decisions made and I'm not saying that with hindsight. You could see this mess coming as soon as we got promoted. The owners too over in areas they should leave well alone.

All money from sales should be spent on Quality defensive players young and experienced midfielder's we have and forward we have if we can keep them, still think Dennis is a good lad if coached properly the finance of the club is nothing to do with us really it's his club he's the owner so definitely have a moan but at the decision's but he's the MAN for now anyway.

I meant Nunez and Neves, not Jimenez. Gazzi, I personally think we will survive this season with a bit of luck but it will be very very tight, with probably one of the lowest ever points total from the 18th place club. Two wins or even a draw and a win out of the last 5 for us may well be enough.
But it would be ironic if we were relegated by 4 points or less and that would be squarely at Marinkinakos door. Without the deduction we would be on 30 points and reasonably safe with a good buffer. We have an easier run in than Luton I think.

But Jester we fans and our ancestors and those who come after us are the real emotional and spiritual core of the club. For Mr Marinkinakos it’s just a business opportunity.

SR no sensible business man would buy a football club. Big M has piled a load of money into our club. However he has a successful shipping business and as all employs others to run this. His mistake is the choice of lieutenants that has been made, who are I believe Europeans. These have been left to run / ruin our precious club by knowing apparently very little about football. There is no doubt in my mind that if SC. had had is way, Garner, Spence and the other 4 loanees would still be on our books and we would be a team even BJ might still be with us. I know and know folks on this site will say we have as a club moved on. True but we are in the mess with FFP because of what happened post promotion. Apparently a scattergun approach resulted in a hugely bloated squad of poor and has been players. Linguard typifies this and he hasn’t changed and obviously a difficult character. Just this one example, who recruited him, if it was SC I will be eating my hat! The Reds are not unique in having these issues but it all comes down to sadly foreign ownership. Luton, if dare I say it are an example of a potentially better run club who punch well above their weight and have kept their team together. I do think we will survive this season but there has to be a big change to ensure we make progress. Sadly I do not think Nuno will be the one to take us forward but the real problem with our club is the back room guys.

When we won all the cups back in the day I didn't give a toss who owned the club but obviously someone had to pay the wages.

Liverpool fans getting desperate if they think origi is going to score a winner against man city ??.

Doc, a good post mate but I’m always amazed how it’s the bosses lieutenants and coaches who get the blame for failure. Surely recruitment is an important part of an owners role? As such he should shoulder some of the blame for our problems.
Marinkinakos personal wealth is estimated at £2.5 billion quid. So, he bought a failing 2nd tier football club from Fawaz for around £50 million. He’s only allowed ( apparently) to invest £35 million a year (£15 million whilst in the Championship ) to cover losses plus probably the same on infrastructure. Getting promotion gets many times that in TV rights ect. So his outlay is basically loose change to him and for that he gets to indulge his football passion/ hobby. To compensate for his ( relatively small) financial losses he gets the kudos, fame and world wide publicity and fame from being a Premier League club owner.
Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful to him for saving our club after the Fawaz era. But to me it seems like a good investment for him and not a philanthropic one. He knows what he’s doing and he’s getting it wrong on so many levels. But, at the end of the day, he will walk away from it and leave us to keep the flame alive and pick up the pieces.

By the way, Mr M does own several Greek media outlets so being on the World stage rather than just the Greek one will be an enormous asset to him. Particularly as he dabbles in Greek politics. AsI say, it’s a good use of ( peanuts) money for him so perhaps he’s a bit slap dash with it. The uncomfortable truth is that our illustrious club is a rich man’s plaything.

It takes a while to get things ticking but all we had to do was sign a good keeper - our keepers have cost us 7 points, maybe more.

Of course the further up the pitch you are the less the mistakes make an impact on the game.
