I think given the defensive frailties of our current full backs CH needs to consider a back 3 of Worrall soh and McKenna, I know it's not ideal using a system because certain players can't do their basic job, but it may be a solution, tonight was shocking all round, but on the positive side we've only lost 1in 8! LoL.

See where your coming from Stevie but we struggle to create as it is so more defense minded players will do little to improve that.
We never get hammered and rarely lose by more than one goal so aren't terrible defensively but we do seem to get exposed and outnumbered a lot which is strange as we play with 2 defensive midfielders.
We seem to have gone from having an abundance of central defensive midfielders to being in trouble in that position now Yates looks like being out for a while. Don't know the length of his or Arters injury but Cafu and Sow in there don't instill much confidence. Maybe Soh can be tried in there?
I'm yet to see a worse team than us for creating and converting chances in this league. We seem so dependant on scoring with shots from distance.
I think it will be a struggle all season and will be hard for us to pull away from the relegation places unless we can sign a good midfield playmaker.

Our defensive fragility is explained in part by our backs being out of position and a Worrall immaturity. As I recall ‘Psycho’ was defender par excellence. As I recall you never saw him bombing down the wing to centre . Surely the John Robertson’s of this world do that . I also don’t think Robbo scored many goals . It wasn’t his job. So my point is let our wingers be just that not winger / centre forward and our defenders backs / wingers! So last night the defence were caught out . However one excellent cross from a winger led to a goal by our centre back / centre forward!

Doc m psycho never bomb down the wing to centre? you must have watched a different bloke to me, psycho spent most of his career bombing forward as I remember, and as elite full backs go, actually wasn’t the greatest defensive wise, but one season he did nearly get 20’goals from left back, so he more than made up for it in other ways, lol.

I knew saville would come back to haunt me 😂, wow the difference in posts from Saturday. Keep your heads up reds. i think this team needs the fans back. Obviously not going to happen. but 1 game in 8 c'mon reds if that waa offered to you would you turn it down. I think the fact the sheep won enhanced the frustrations of a lot of us. Stay positive stay safe 👍.

Stevie while that is a good shout, you know it won't happen under Hughton.
The system won't alter.
And fans who say "give him time"
"These aren't his signings"
"Judge him when he's got his own players"
Forest aren't run like that and no manager or coach will get their own players.
They get what the dof signs.
So Hughton will be judged the same as his predecessors working under the same restrictions.
Thats football at NFFC and its not about to change.
Relegation isn't an option so a decision will be made if we continue to stay in and around the relegation zone and he will be gone.

SF I agree re psycho shall we say he def wasn’t a wing back into today’s parlance. My point is maybe that defenders stay mostly behind the half way line. After all their job is to defend. Out of 4 midfielders two venture forward two venture back in principle . Our two strikers mainly stay in the too half of the pitch . That is my very simplistic way of looking at a solution for our ills . Defenders priority is to defend surely not to be wing backs.

Doc m I agree, and my 3 at the back suggestion only comes because we have full backs who can’t defend, as you say their primary job. Playing them as wing backs takes some pressure off their weaknesses, it’s a sad state of affairs really, it’s footballs equivalent of a cricket captain setting a field for bad bowling,
