I thought he would be a good player for us and he started well but he has not done as well as i hoped, and failed to do anything worth while out on loan. It is a real shame what has happened to him.

Started off well first 2/ 3 games but massively disappointed since. He was a good servant for Bolton and I was excited about signing him but some players don’t fit certain clubs.

Holt did well at Norwich
Neil Harris did well at Millwall
Billy Sharp did well everywhere else he’s played
Ross McCormack Leeds and Fulham
Gary Mcsheffery

The list goes on!

Something happens when they come to forest.
Hopefully we can keep Grabban going to get to the 20 mark. Just keep him away from the penalty spot!

Clough was too slight in build and easily knocked off the ball, although having said that so is JC - the only person in the present squad like him is Silva, but he gets stuck in and often takes a pasting but bounces back. Clough was supposedly a playmaker, something like Andy Reid, but it never really happened for him. He needs to get out to a Division 1 side permanently, and get some form back.

Holt in all fairness to him was played out of position, sometimes it turns out to be a good idea by the manager to do that, but in Holts case it was highlighted how much of a bad decision it was when Norwich got him doing brilliantly in the Championship, and very well in the Premier league.

A few facts needed here. Holt top scored for us one season (when he played as a number 9) so he can't have been that bad for us.

Clough only played for us briefly really and I suspect there is more to it than we know. Depression? Something like that IMO. Footballers are humans and we often forget that. Look at Collymore when his head went. He went from possibly the best player I have ever seen (and I mean that) to all over the shop and hitting his Mrs in public!

It's difficult for fans to understand depression when to most of us it's a dream job that pays handsomely to be fair.
Everyone has it in them to be depressed no matter their circumstances.
Think your wide of the mark with clough, but then again footballers are young and while paid handsomely they can and do get well treated or mistreated once a contract is signed
Sometimes they simply don't fit in, remember Veron a class player everywhere except man utd, alexis Sanchez same and our own Garry birtles, sometimes they don't suit the club or the way they play nothing to do with depression.

Precisely, yet the manager at one time thought he is no number nine, he would make a good winger, when that did not work got rid of him.

Agreed. I also thought Nathan Tyson was good down the middle but just because he had pace he got shoved out to the wing.
