Why do fans write yates off, am I just clueless on football (ok ok one at a time) froggy great ta see ya back son. Nah but we actually need your yates, murrilos, sels, milenkovic, woods, the players that keep the forest fires alight in September rains.

Completely agree Bowie we need Yates for his competitive edge, energy fitness and leadership on the pitch - teams don't like playing against him. He's also one of the few players in the squad that is a proven goalscorer and can get his head on things in the box. Also a level-headed, articulate lad who trains hard and sets an example.

Should have started IMO. Great player to annoying the big teams that are used to the status quo.

Haha RHR - Yates a proven goal scorer? - I would disagree with that statement, my opinion is due to his lack of composure in the final third he ends up just getting in the way more often than not. He has scored a few mainly against lower level teams.
Agree with the point about attitude etc, every manager (and there has been a few) appears to include him in their squads and even made him captain - so he is doing something right.
At the moment imo, he should not be captain and maybe him being putting up their with the likes of Pearce, Walker, Webb, Keane is making him more of a target.
Maybe a captain in the future - who knows. For now let him lead the youthful domestic cup teams.

I’ve noticed how well we’re disrupting the oppositions midfield pattern without Yates - it’s going brilliant isn’t it, keep him on the bench where he belongs.
