Two great stories from simple 65 on bowie and 1951 on lennon. Love them .
My only claim to fame was i once went to pride park just for a look around the dump. I was on the pitch with my spotify on playing various tunes.
Read the paper the next day, the sheep told the daily mirror i had done a concert with elvis as my back up, with an audience of 130.000 in the ground. Ok ok 😉
Nah but 1951 and simple love them, brilliant obviously yours are true.

Bowie here's another all true. Next to city ground is a rowing club now called the boat, but it was the Bittanina in those days. They say the Beatles never performed in Nottingham, but one Sunday evening in 1967 they dropped in there for a drink on there way to somewhere. My wife worked their then and met them. It was one of the places to go in those days. They didn't perform, for some reason they just visited.

Bowie, here's another. An old work mate of mine also in the sixties did some taxi driving for performers in working men's clubs. He asked me if I could cover for him while he was on holiday. I did, And drove Strippers to working men's clubs around Heanor, area. One duty was to wait in the wings and put a dressing gown on them as they came off stage. Then drive them to there next performance. And I got paid for it, Well somebody had to do it. My wife still doesn't know about it.

Brilliant 1951 absolutely love them mate. Why didn't the wife get therw autographs worth something now. I'd love lennon, harrison, bowie, elvis, sinatra on my xmas table. Massive heros of mine mate. Haha so many questions i would have for them. That 2nd job the driver one, my mate used to do the same job for a while. He said he had to finish it because of the trouble that went with it. Punters hassling the strippers. It was one of them where you turn up for the bachelor/ birthday boy etc. he's built like a brick sh#t house but got plenty tips off the strippwrs.

Bowie, my wife does not like the Beatles. It was the stones for her. In those days it was Stones or Beatles.
Stevie, thanks mate but I honestly don't remember. I know they performed live on screen, playing somewhere else in the country, at the Odean, Gaumont, and ABC, in Nottingham.

Stevie, apparently the Beatles played Nottingham live 4 times in 1963 . As well as being on screen . I have learnt something, thanks for that.
When I drove the young ladies about to working men's clubs I forgot to mention some Forest players were in attendance in the audience.

i bowie, just thought i'd share another true event. my parents took on a smallholding that had been rented out, it was in a village called gunthorpe, anyway the previous tennents had left a lot of junk around the house and barns. this was 1966, anyway in one barn was two electric guitars with amps ect. we had family up in sheffield, they lived on the wyvern est a tad rough on there. cousin steve turned up on the back of a motobike one friday night the rider took off his helmet and i thought don't mess with this one, i'm bomber wheres the guitars, were his first word. they stayed the weekend and were regulars after that. bombers real name was jo cocker.
