There’s mixed reactions to the signings we’ve made and while I think we have made way too many signings (again) I actually the signings this summer are better quality.

Christie
Taylor
Colback
Freeman
McKenna (if we get him)
Arter (if we get him)
Ibe (or another winger)

They’re all good signings at this level (and some of the others could be decent too, Blackett in particular) and for me indicates that Sabri wants flexibility in how the team sets up. While we haven’t seen a change in style or set up. I think we’ll start to see this change over the coming matches.

Samba
Soh, Worrall, McKenna
Christie Colback Arter Ribeiro
Freeman Lolley
Taylor
3-4-2-1

Samba
Christie Worrall McKenna Blackett
Colback Arter
Lolley Freeman Ameobi/ Ibe/ another winger
Taylor/ Grabban
4-2-3-1

GK Samba, Smith, Diallo
RB Christie, Gabriel
CB McKenna, Worrall, Soh, Figs, Dawson
LB Ribeiro, Blackett (CB too)
CDM Colback, Yates, Arter, Bachirou, Sow
CAM Freeman, Johnson
Winger Lolley, Ameobi, Ibe/ new winger, Mighten
ST Grabban, Taylor, Guerro

That gives SL the 23 outfield players and 3 goalkeepers he says he wants.
On paper that is a very strong team (imo) and gives flexibility in how we can play and allow a variety of different formations.

Obviously there needs to be a lot of outgoings. And we may see Worrall leave to add some added financial stability. In that case Benalouane maybe stays or another CB. Ideally though this would be the squad and it’s solid.

I think you are right. What I see is a lack of confidence from the team and the manager. People on here criticise (rightly so in some cases) but we have to remember these players are young men, most of whom are in their early 20s. The manager is trying to do what he can but he’s suffering from low confidence too. I hope they take confidence from that second half performance. I think Grabban needs to sit out the next game, I think you also drop Lolley too, give those guys a bit of fire in their belly to prove that they shouldn’t be dropped. I understand Lolley is injured too so it’s not a big issue in dropping him for fitness, but Grabban needs to not start a game, keep him out make him kick down doors and scrap make wind him up so that he gets his head in the game and doesn’t miss as many chances because he knows what it’s like to not play, give him that impetus. I’m targeting Grabban here but you could do that with other players like Worral or Yates, just I think it will have more of an impact on the squad and player if it’s Grabban.

Not only does grabban miss sitters, he fails to slide other players in holding on trying to score himself. I would like to see taylor and freeman given a partnership. Let grabban sulk on the bench.
