BBC saying we have deal accepted for Emanuel Dennis. Well he's the sort of player to put bums on seats. Bit like Davis with pace. Will be very pleased to see this one over the line.

Spence in advanced talks with spurs according to the sun. £15mil apparently.

John Percy says its going to happen today with Cooper being installed after compo of £500k. Murphy was only ever interested in Cooper so it was all eggs in one basket. He might be the right man at forest but the right fit?
One thing that irritates was the media saying we interviewed wilder but bombed him out over financial demands. Nonesense he wanted to talk to us but they wanted one man from the start.

A manager who is well known for being good at working with younger players? I'd say that was a good fit, yes.

What we have is an abundance of developing young players. We can't spend, spend, spend due to FFP. People complained incessantly before that we needed a plan and to use our youngster. We need to buy younger players and develop our squad. Now we are doing it.

2.) 21 Sep 2021 11:02:47
The only reason cooper is available is because he stood up to the swansea board and showed his displeasure losing Lowe and Ayew.
Sick of the regular managers doing the rounds with very little success from most of them.

3.) 21 Sep 2021 12:38:38
Agreed 79 i think karanka and oneil were treated poorly though krankie was not up to it. We need a grafter with balls to develop and take on the hiearchy when needed.

4.) 21 Sep 2021 13:38:09
Based on win percentage, O'Neil is the best boss since Davies. Warburton is a close second.

08 Jul 2021 13:39:34
To repeat a theme on here that we have signed no players yet. So no unforced errors just yet then. Phew.
We all want success and a team to be proud of. We need at least 5 new brave characters to elevate this team. But thanks to us having the biggest squad over the recent years and many of them not fit to wear the shirt, we are in a very tight spot. No crowds last season has financially damaged many clubs.

Our wage bill will have been crippling last season so the finances are obviously delicate. Do we rely on Mr M to just shell out a few more million or do we do things sensibly and keep our heads above water. I will reiterate that no news is good news and that all the paper talk is just that. I firmly believe that the club will be doing their business under the radar and we will be in a better place come August.
The revolving door is jammed, thankfully.

1.) 08 Jul 2021 14:18:40
A good viewpoint that Rutland. Hope you are right.

2.) 08 Jul 2021 15:17:00
Those are my thoughts too nothing wrong with doing things in the right way reds.

3.) 08 Jul 2021 16:49:40
I agree that the revolving door should remain firmly closed. But we do need some quality reinforcements if we are going to improve on last season’s 17th position. If we don’t get those signings we will have to rely on a number of other things happening, some of which are more likely than others. Samba must rediscover the form he showed when he first joined us. All of the youngsters that have been out on loan must have good first Championship seasons. Worrall must stay or be replaced with a reliable partner for McKenna. Carvalho must finally show us that he is the number 10 we have been lacking. Lolley must rediscover his best form and stay injury free. Grabban and and/ or Taylor (if he is still with us) must rediscover their goal touch.

As I say, some of these are more likely than others. But if we do not get sufficient reinforcements we need a good few of these to happen. If not, I can only see another season of struggle.

4.) 08 Jul 2021 19:34:39
Agree completely with your sentiments Red but think it unlikely all of the youngsters will hit the ground running, certainly not to the point of denting the play off places. I fear Carvalho is unable to step up to the physical demands of the Championship and had a poor season on loan. I am more hopeful that Lolley will continue to return to his best form that he was beginning to show prior to his injury. He has been back in training for some time now so he could be like a new signing hopefully. I think we must all put aside top 6 place and concentrate on reducing the bloated squad of average and below average players and begin building for the future.

5.) 08 Jul 2021 20:56:41
Young rah. I hope so too. I feel for lolley as he is a battler and can drive the team. His best days were when cash was alongside him. But his injuries are dragging him back and i think insurmountable. But we can hope. The bloated squad will take time to rinse out and freshen up, but hughton, at this moment is the experienced head we need. Long term he might be limited but for now and stability he is more than ok.

6.) 08 Jul 2021 23:19:29
I prefer the revolving door and hughton going out it.

7.) 10 Jul 2021 08:52:18
Yep would make an exception for that Ff.

8.) 11 Jul 2021 09:37:07
To be replaced by whom? Someone else to jump on the merry-go-round and leave by the same revolving door in 12-months time? Come on folks, let’s get real. We all crave success but Hughton deserves a proper chance given his promotion record elsewhere. I agree with Rutland in that longer term he may well have limitations but right now he’s a steady hand on the tiller. Let him shape his squad and then judge him but don’t blame him for the here and now!

9.) 11 Jul 2021 16:55:43
so far nobody has got under the radar and if they are going to get a proper pre season they need to be counting em in soon.

10.) 12 Jul 2021 17:36:52
Thank you RedOctober for a welcome rose of realism.

08 May 2021 09:39:02
From what i can gather vrentros is considering his position trentside. A chap from the bundesliga is in the frame to replace. Surely this would be welcomed by most on here. Hughton has made it clear that attacking issues are a top priority. He has looked at this squad and i bet even the ones on loan like mcguanne and realised they will not make the step up. Given hughtons past record you have to trust that he will make positive strides and in the not too distant past his teams have scored plenty of goals.
Our strikers and so called attacking mids are just not good enough, particularly Grabban. He came here injured and has never shaken off these issues. Yeah he scored 20 last term but none when it mattered, some say he could and should have scored thirty, well he didn't and there lies the problem. Worst pen taker and even one he scored this season only went in because he he fell over and fooled the keeper. Hughton has shown faith in his inherited skipper but think Grabban will be gone and younger blood brought in. You could never say grabban did not try to score but he wasted so many chances and when the option to play in a team mate arose he greedily tried the impossible.
I know many on here want rid of hughton calling his football archaic and dinasaur quality. I get that. But given the general rubbish and crocks he inherited then it would be foolish to change now. One full season to rinse out the deadwood and titivate the team with better attacking quality is the best option. Even if we finished outside the play off places next year rest assured the squad will be trimmer, better and we will have a better platform to replace hughton with the younger dynamique manager we crave. I doubt the football will be as bad as this year as it will be freshened up but its crucial we do not twist as we have a man of nowse as our coach.

Team Cohesion, and Team Progression each season is all i ask, anything better is a bonus.

2.) 08 May 2021 21:11:19
Rutland hughton will be gone before next season ends.
Hes working for marinakis and if he can't get us promotion next season, or he's struggling with results?, which he will.
Then they will sack hi.
Id get rid right now as he only has six months left on his contract
Its interesting they haven't offered him a contract extension thank god.

Just watched another post match interview with Steve cooper. He looks crest fallen and all he needs now is an international break.
Beats me how lightly he gets off with tame lame questions which enables him to replicate the bland rhetoric which we have become accustomed to. I noticed he called it a day with the reporters and slinked off.
He needs asking questions that as fans would like insight to. Firstly why do you persist with a back three when we don't have the personelle to make it work?
Have you thought about playing a four?
Why did you drop toffol for a complete unfit unknown Lodi
Where's the logic in taking out our most effective and hard working midfielder in obrien
Why has Yates been a constant?
Why are we buying crocks?
And finally if you are not being leant on from above, why do you persist with your standard formation.
Uncomfortable questions but if you can't handle them your in the wrong job. If your not being leant on and you solely pick the team and formation then difficult questions will be asked and honest answers should be given. It's ok to fist pump on the pitch when we are winning but when we are looking ragged and unconvincing then you stand up and be counted and give fans a bit of insight. It's not interfering with club business it's giving fans information and maybe justification. Cooper knew the consequences of the huge influx, the club knew time would be extremely limited, therefore should have tried to keep momentum from last season with some retention and about ten or so newbies. Not asking cooper to virtually split the atom in record time

rutland red 7

1.) 17 Sep 2022 15:51:07
Some good points pal. Just think Coopers head is all over place and he can't tell his arse from his elbow. i'm blaming the top brass for being overly extravagant in the spending stakes. Dane Murphy and Cooper should have had words about how difficult the complete clearout and overhaul would be vying on the impossible even for top class managers. Marinkas's son and his cronies are having too much say if you ask me.

2.) 17 Sep 2022 17:05:22
Agreed clough. It’s not healthy.

3.) 17 Sep 2022 17:16:04
Coopers had fifty two playing cards face down on the table, and told to make a great poker hand. Markines views a good player, not how he plays on the pitch, but how many millions he's cost. IE O' Brian should be playing. Someone posted earlier about Reid leaving, after he left some of our form took a dive. I think this season we should enjoy some great footballing talent coming to the City Ground, and hope for a miracle, it's the same next season, UREDS! .

17 Sep 2022 02:43:02
I said it before the game and it gives a huge indication of madness and stupidity that has befallen our club and that word is LODI. Wtf is going on. I'll come back to that in a minute. I also said that the club for four years under mr M was a complete and utter shambles, of that there is no denying. We got lucky under cooper and finished fourth where we stumbled through the play offs, where Lady Luck was with us massively. The ethos that got us here was dismantled in a stroke of feckless spending and spoilt child syndrome of buying the whole fecking sweet shop. The shambles and desperate acquisitions policy is back and from Columbia to china and Blackpool we have wasted money millions of it. Wtf is bowler doing in Greece? Martin O'Neil has given us an insight into his tenure here and as suspected he was treated dreadfully, sacked before a ball was kicked having won his last three matches, irrespective of the football he was trying to address that by bringing in quality players, Keane saw the Shambles with players having direct access to marinakis and got out.
So back to Lodi, he got off a plane having not played as he was deemed surplus to requirements, ousted a very impressive toffolo who btw was also very good in the air and worked like a Trojan, he has not impressed yet has started last 4 games. How can that happen if the manager has common sense and has the final say. Some on here said the cancellation of the Leeds game is welcome to give cooper more time with the new recruits, that really worked. Strange team selection if cooper watched this lot closely. Obrien has arguably been our best and most industrious player, Yates hasn't and yet gets the nod ahead of Lewis. Now work that one out. Ppl keep saying mangala is missed, why? He played one prem game and one in the cup against grimsby oh and got injured. I said look at his stats for last season as they were shocking. based on his performance against grimsby then why is surridge not even started not once. Sam may be out of his depth at this level but who knows if not given a deserved chance. One thing he would give is plenty of effort and many options.
So cooper has to accept his responsibility and his level by his selection and style which screams of naivety. The club has gone super loopy in its mindless spending which in truth could send us into the abyss. Can you imagine this lot back in the championship A horrendous wage bill players with zero value and unsellable?.? Now where have we heard this before

rutland red 7

1.) 17 Sep 2022 07:38:54
But Rutters we've got Freuler the conductor in midfield. After last night there was plenty of bum notes in the orchestra. Another duff buy along with the rest ?.

2.) 17 Sep 2022 07:59:44
They’re not all duff buys mate but we will never win games with those tactics last night, we score a goal and recoil to give the opposition almost 70% possession for an entire half . If you can’t be tactically better than that you are just not up to the job in the premier league . I’m not saying get rid either I’m just highlighting there is no way he will turn it around .

3.) 17 Sep 2022 10:36:29
I disagree 2Star. I think we were quite happy to give possession away and in fact making them break us down worked well in the 1st half.
It's about game management for me. What happened early in the second is that we had the best of the 1st 10 mins. Had it not been for stray passes in midfield we could have been 2 up. But that lead to a little frustration and a few players overstretching themselves instead of keeping their shape. The result of that was that we became exposed at the back and Fulham took their chances.
So for me its about showing a bit of maturity and being able to manage a game when you're ahead.

Dear EDs and fellow reds. I am horrified that people on here have shown utter contempt to our monarch. I'm no fan of the royal family but have always had total respect for queen Elizabeth. Irrespective of the wealth and background, our Queen came from she saw serving us as her duty from coronation to her sad passing. I stick by what I said yesterday she defined us as a nation world wide.
As a football banter site I thought long before putting a little post up yesterday, but thought it fitting that the good football folk would all like to say a few words in reflection and respect for the era ending events of yesterday. Still today it's with sadness I write but then that's because she got and earned the respect of many if not all she came to meet or touch.
Personally this is not a site to vent your hatred and the Ed's should not have to read such vitriol. I feel a bit down that people can be so absolute in negativity particularly as she was a mother, grandmother and in a way mother to the nation. I would have HOPED for a little more decorum and respect even if you dislike the royal family, like me, however the queen was above hate could we not just have held back? LOVE AND RESPECT RR7

rutland red 7

1.) 09 Sep 2022 14:49:26
My own opinion rutland my friend. The further north you go the less you give a fck about royalty. And it's history. I agree with you on the queen totally. She's been there all of my life. And jollys views should have been kept to another day. But that's the punk movement and what it stands for. Sadly her death is a perfect opportunity to vent there frustration. Now before you all jump onto me please read again. This isn't me venting frustration or anything, but simply highlighting how the world spins these days. i'm with cyclist an old lady we never seen much in the north east. But she did represent this monarchy bless her through these troubled times of social media etc and a family that surrounded her a lot bringing nothing but defacing the values she brought to us all.

2.) 09 Sep 2022 15:20:21
It’s ironic that Jolly remarks that this is England not Nazi Germany and he is entitled to his opinion and to exercise his right as a free born Brit to free speech. Speaking in general terms ( and leaving aside Her Majesty’s passing yesterday) without the courage, stoicism and heroism of undoubtedly our finest generation we probably would be under Nazi rule with gas chambers and all the evils attached. In 1940 I would say the odds of a successful German invasion were pretty high, perhaps 10 to 1.
Bear in mind that there were plans at the start of the war to evacuate the Royal Family to Canada but they refused to go. Likewise Churchill and the Government. They put themselves in harms way. If you visit Churchill’s War Rooms ( and I recommend it highly) they will tell you that his bunker wouldn’t have survived a direct hit by a German bomb. I’m no royalist but I think their behaviour was exemplary.
You’ve got to know your history friends before jumping to dismissive conclusions.

3.) 09 Sep 2022 16:05:24
Almost every man of fighting age and many women put themselves in harms way during the war. One of these Royals abdicated George VIII) because they were basically German (as was Lizzie) and he was also probably a Nazi. Nothing special. Know your history.

Nothing personal against any of them, but nobody should have a right to rule based on an accident of birth. Call me crazy but democracy is the key word here.

Lots of old people die. RIP to all of them, not just one who had enough accommodation to house every homeless person in the UK but left them to sleep outside. Just saying.

4.) 09 Sep 2022 16:33:42
My history of liz, i remember the old man , loved the club. My old ma give him a hard time she recalls after he passed away for me to see the queen. 1967 it was. Or around there. She opened the tyne tunnel. Anyway i was only a nipper. He made me walk there. And remember just feeling so tired out on arrival. She'd only been there day before. Typical of the two of them to get it wrong. Mam so nieve the old man mates in club 1st. Maybe later son. Something i learned from bigtime. (The old man would have obviously known) my mam never got out much only to clean the pub her job. He'd have done it to fit in with his circuit ???

5.) 09 Sep 2022 16:57:15
RedCyclist there’s never been a George the Eigth, the last one was the 6th. If your thinking of King Edward, he abdicated not because he was German but due to a constitutional crisis brought about by his desire to marry Wallis Simpson an American divorcee. As you say know your history.
I agree that virtually every citizen of the UK in 1940 was in harms way because they were virtually all within the Luftwaffes bombing range. They why I refer to that entire generation as our finest generation. That included the Royal Family ( who could have fled to safety in Canada but didn’t.
I’ve been to Prince Alberts very modest mansion near Coburg in eastern Germany. Queen Victoria s family by marriage and descent was Gotha-Saxe-Coburg. They
Royal Family wisely changed it the the very English nameWindsor” during the First World War when they came into conflict with their cousins the Hohenzollern s and their representative Kaiser Wilhelm.

On a different matter, had a quiet Friday night in with my gorgeous wife and she put on Counting Crows Live in New York City album. Saw them in Manchester a few years back and had forgotten how good they were. Recommended. Then “Gone Fishing” Mortimer and Whitehouse, absolute half an hour of life affirming joy to counteract yesterdays sad news. Now off ta bed to quote your good self. ??
Thoughts on our extended football break tomorrow friends!

11.) 10 Sep 2022 00:04:59

12.) 11 Sep 2022 13:58:20
Yeah, George the whoever is what I meant.

As I say, nothing personal, but the Royals are just people who are very well off. People go hungry a lot. I don'tknow them. It's up to others if they want to get emotional about people they don't know dying.

And I have no probs woith anyone disagreeing. You're free to be wrong. {wink}

And the German link is funny and true.

Big love to ya Stokey. My Mrs is a fellow Stokey, btw.

06 Sep 2022 09:28:29
Severe nerve pain so could not sleep lastnight so my mind was drifting on to the debate on here last few days and certain things came to the fore. you need 30 to 40 points to survive this league, 10 wins and maybe 10 draws.
Therefore you don't need to compete with the top 10 teams just get the points where you can get them against the lower half teams, so maybe we didn't need to go as daft on foreign expenditure. the likes of toffolo obrien have been superb value for money and I believe Josh bowler would do very well for us too, THIS SEASON.
The team spirit that mr cooper nurtured and which propelled us from the trap door to top six was extraordinary. So here's the nub.
I was Sambas fiercest critic until finally after his sending off he suddenly became an outstanding keeper for us and his character pivitol to our success. from what I gather from accomplished reporters we did not offer him an improved deal and apparently he was only on about three grand a week. He was settled in Nottingham as I believe his kids were born here. So he rightly decided to leave than except div 1 money. he would have been perfect this season and saved us a fortune. Did cooper want him gone?
So we move on to SPENCE, DAVIS, GARNER AND ZINC. Lowe got injured so can't comment. With these players the heart and momentum was with us, Garner maybe still in the ascendency but he had something. Davis was a real handful and could control the ball in tight situations and run at the heat of any defence, a rare commodity. Spence on his day was unplayable against. So, again from what I can gather, no attempt was made to bring these lads back to the city ground for our inaugural season. WHY?.? Surely going with the heart of last season, including Samba, would have given us a chance of hitting the ground running, continued vibe and team spirit and certainly capable of competing strongly with the lower echelons of the prem. some quality additions, not 21, and we would be settled for the challenge. None of these players were retained by their clubs so were available at sensible money. just my thoughts and it might give insight into job cooper has as I feel he is caught in the middle of the modern arrangements of DOF OWNER and recruitment strategy.

RR7, I have said as much so many times on this site and had flack for saying as much . However this is a banter site and we should all feel we can express our opinions and frustrations as we see fit . The bottom line is we all want the same thing, entertaining, competitive football but not necessarily wining the premier league! We are supporters of our club but get frustrated when decisions are made to sign players that are beyond our comprehension as we watch them and ask why on earth have they been signed. We are disheartened by watching the team dismantled, confidence disappear, the best manager since BC castigated by folks . Where will it all end? Richard Keys has a point about journey men . I also wonder about agents the money they make and maybe the go betweens . You cannot blame Big M as he had done everything you could wish for . Personally if SC can’t hack it, the board bar the chairman should resign before SC does as they are the root cause of this disharmony.

2.) 06 Sep 2022 12:46:23
Frank clark is still the best since clough doc.

3.) 06 Sep 2022 12:53:59
More or less exactly what I said the other day rutland, spot on mate, I agree with all that, some one has made it very hard for Mr Cooper this season, the team spirit we had last season will be very hard to get back, I’m sure it shows already in the performance’s of the lads from last year, Worrell and co did perfectly well last season against the likes of Arsenal, Leicester and Liverpool, so what’s changed, HART, the hart and team spirit mate that's what's gone, nobody’s fighting for each other like they did last season, that Will take some getting back.

4.) 06 Sep 2022 13:19:49
Rutland, I agree in part but Boro and Villa were trying to rob us or get is involved in a bidding war. As for Garner, Man U dragged their heels. So what was the club supposed to do, wait until the last week to sort out 15+ players? As some have alluded, the club has invested heavily and been unfairly criticised. If we had spent next to nothing, we would have lacked ambition. Damned if we do and damned if we don't. The club has taken a gamble, yes but I understand why. Maranakis has backed the club, maybe not all of the manager's targets but Coops still has a job to do. I wish him every success but if he doesn't fancy it, thanks and next please. FTID.

5.) 06 Sep 2022 13:20:36
Dream and docM, it all came cascading down in my head when suddenly I thought why is samba gone when he seemed really happy here and the reports from the dressing echoed that. No effort seemed to be made in retaining the loanees. It has to be other ideas from above cooper surely

Could the club have grounds to sack surridge for breach of contract balloons. Sounds like surridge has some balls, but if was lied to then can’t blame him, though it’s a tad unprofessional. Maybe he is getting sick of being misled by cooper. There’s no doubt from our perspective that surridge has been poorly treated as he put his health at risk for the club last season. I have no doubt that cooper had nothing to do with the majority of those signings as 2star alluded to yesterday that god knows where they came from. Balloons look at my reply to east coast red on the banter. From what you say it looks like it’s all about to kick off and cooper has history of walking if unhappy. Contract? Has he not signed it?.? Sounds like 2 fools parted.

Cheers stag, I would add that the investment this season and the type of egotistical players purchased are for this league so relegation is not an option. Promotion caught us cold and the way we have swept Europe for POTENTIAL is mind blowing. Somebody knows what they are doing, don't THEY?
Marinakis, his son and Murphy have been deeply involved with signings, that in itself could be destructive. I feel for cooper as so much is out of his hands but he will take the brunt of failure….

Welcome stag and hope you post regularly as it’s entertaining on here ALL the time. One thing I cannot agree on is that the prem is not where we belong. Evidenced by our long absence. We are Forest who had a long period in the old first division under a genius partnership. The prem is a different world to that old division and the way it’s run and managed is all about greed. VAR is killing live football with mental decisions and microscopic analysis creating false weird decisions. hope you enjoy

Bsred why do you say these things? It’s obvious last season was swept with momentum and emotion. We had a fragile limited squad that got on a wave and rode it. We rode our luck too and literally fell over the line. Euphoria from the fans steeped with renewed optimism. Buying the likes of toffolo and obrien, even Williams indicated that common sense was at play. Then we never even enquired about the loanees that got us promoted and then Came the sunami of foreigners and cast offs. You can’t criticise posters for being concerned. The club have made the mistakes predicted by punters and media and we threw caution to the wind. How was cooper meant to deal with this unprecedented influx. One of the best buys, imho, was bowler, as he has a great left foot and can carry the ball without fear. It became so blinding that he was hurriedly shipped off to Greece as the dressing room was chocked. Cooper is not a happy bunny, you can see the defeat in his eyes and his demeanour dropped.
We post what we see good or bad and you cannot call us fickle, just realists and the likes of Murphy and the M clan have goofed and should have known better….

Red coopers not a great coach, maybe a motivator but persisting with a sluggish three when you need to shore things up with a four indicates belligerence and petulance and lack of expansion in his tool box. Sorry I like cooper as a person but his limitations are being exposed, I mean Lodi please who thought he would do well instantly at this level and leaving a class act like obrien on the bench for three defeats. Now that is simply bewildering.

Red sky I sort of agree but the spending has been irresponsible and petulant ONCE AGAIN. Their is doing your best or acting perpetually stupid, they fall into the latter category. I prefer the championship too where there is no goal shattering VAR or the calamitous amount of greed and arrogance swamped with ill gotten gains. I keep hearing the prem is where we belong. No it isn’t we are an average sized club with longer history down the leagues than up it… however if we get relegated it could just ruin the club and that is down to outright greed and stupidity…
