This probably won’t be a very popular post, but now it’s been revealed that Wood has had surgery, I think it’s time we stable him, and hunt for someone else.
He’s 34, not the most agile as it is, has a first touch like an elephant and personally I think this injury is a game ending one in the premier league at his age.
We need to get our finger out and go for a proven striker with premier league experience…or an up and coming talent who is a goal scorer, and has the desire to prove his worth.
Would like to hear your suggestions? ?.

Totally agree mate my suggestion would be Mateta a younger version of Wood.

And the suggestions of who we might realistically get come flooding in.

Yes a unproven premier league striker from Africa somewhere.

That's ridiculously harsh on Wood mate?
He's served us brilliantly over the past 2 years!

Wood might still be useful off the bench or for certain games but long term the club are already looking.
Kalimuendo will get better, but he's a different type of player. Awoniyi has never got back to his best post injury and you could argue he was never good enough to take us to the next level anyway.
Agree that we definitely need to sign at least one striker with a view to the future and also to lift us up a level.

Oggy, I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. If I remember correctly the only player mentioned was James Gardner.
So that suggests not one of the brilliant minds on here has a clue who we should go for.

John Robertson gazz, little fat guy I've been watching. Believe me the laddies got potential. Ok jock but my what a player. Bless, sitting lazing. ok ok as per. But will use xmas as an excuse. Watching another (indiana Jones film on itv) anyway I always pick up on one liners. The line was something like, "when we are young everything is thrown at ya, get to our age, me 64 they slowly take it away, thought of robbo straight away, and obviously my ma n da.
Sister I lost last year. But ya know reds, never let a loss get ya down. because life as robbo would say is built on girders, just need men to fit em.

A few comments on the above posts. First of all, Chim and Munmad, as always I admire your positive and upbeat attitude.
However, Mr M Edu and the recruitment team gave nailed their colours to the Kalimuendo mast to the tune of £26. It remains to be seen if this turns out to be a good investment. Let’s not forget the decrying of “Plank of” Wood on here by many before he came good.
Anoniyi’s goals went a long way to keeping us up under SC in our first season back.
Jesus looks a bargain at £10 million with his holdup play (which drove Man City’s world class defenders to distraction yesterday) and work rate.
Not bad in the air for his size either.
We won’t see Wood again this season if ever sadly. Anoniyi is, as you say, no where near the player he was before injury. A top class striker would cost £80 to £100 m which we haven’t got. We will be very fortunate to find replacements for Wood and Taiwo without incurring points deductions
I still think we will finish mid table.

Still though Stokey, 26 quid is a bargain for Kalimuendo ??.

There are some on here who think £26 was too much for Kalimuendo.
