So the carvalho debate carries on and fans continue to clamour for someone who barley touched the ball yesterday. For the money paid can anyone genuinely say he’s better than radi, Patterson, Lansbury or even clough !

Totally agree with you the lad lacks so much and is out of his depth. Other than an odd glimpse of something more he's been a passenger most of season. We were well and truly done over with the 3 Portuguese lads who were supposed to be our attacking force. Their inadequacies have cost us dearly this season

Definitely well and truly done over.was it del boy who negotiated it.its typical of our luck to be honest.i would of thought that out of the three,at least one of them would have made a big impact.i know carvalho has shown glimpses but nowhere near enough for what he cost and as for the other two,Just a complete waste of time.the amount of dross we need to get rid of is unbelievable and i don't envy the job that mon needs to do in the summer.so it looks like another season passes by and peeters out to nothing yet again but all i can do as a fan is what i do every season.hope and pray that this time round we might just get it right.coyr

Watched Porto play boavista on Friday night while in Portugal.
One thing that stood out was the slow pace of the game and how players were allowed time and space and diving at every opportunity.
Calvahalo never even played for Benfica first team and yet fans are expecting miracles in his first season.
Four goals and six assists in his first season ain't that bad.
He'll be a better player next season and was bought in long term and to build a team with along with Matty cash,who also seems to get some stick on here,they are both only 21 and need a bit of time not to mention encouragement.
The biggest blame for this season lies with karanka totally relying on carvalho grabban and lolley to create and score all the goals week in and week out,without having any replacements when they were injured or off form,other than cash the rest of the midfield are slow,old can't pass a ball two yards to a team mate,they all need to be disposed of and that includes Osborn.

Ff, i agree there is a lot of players that need getting rid of, and there is not enough pace in the team, but since when has it become common place for a Championship club to be able to pay such vast sums of money, even if it is in annual instalments to wait for players to fulfil their potential.
Carvalho could be one hell of a player but we should have loaned him with a view to buy as we did the other two, that way we could have then signed some proven quality to try and get us higher up the table while helping the players with potential to improve along the way.

Not disagreeing with you Stevie,just pointing out his age,not his fault we paid that amount and at least it's spread over a few years.
He will be a better player next season,now he has one season under his belt.
We need better players around him and not stagnant slow players as midfield partners for him.
Even colback is slow and raffa doesn't rate him to do a job in the premier.
Personally I'd like to see a Massive clear out of the midfield and stop signing loan players with big egos.

Benfica may not have wanted a loan deal,we don't know all the reasons behind transfers,I'm sick of loan players full stop and bringing them in and playing them over players we have under contract does nothing for morale.
Clear out the old has beans send the loans back and build a team around Worrall,cash,darikwa,carvalho,lolley,figs,appiah.
Add the likes of Robinson,grabban,Milosevic to it,the rest can go

If Benfica did not want a loan deal we should have waited another year, or as you have said try our own young players.
Sadly with higher and higher fees for players teams like Forest are having to rely more on loan players as there is no patience with our own youth players, yet we show patience with other clubs youth players.

Carvalho hasn't got it end of. We need to move on. Dias and Goncalves will not be thought of next year. We are paying for JC in instalments so I hope we can stop those and sell him off.

Every manager must be able to see what you see and therefore he won't be wanted? Lol.
You can't stop paying instalments that's just a daft thing to say we'd be banned from making any signings.

Bsered, I would have thought the only way we could stop the instalments is to sell him for enough money to pay off the rest of what we owe, but i doubt we would get anywhere near that this year.

I think he means let’s hope we can sell him for enough money so that the monthly instalments can stop by paying benfica a one off lump sum to clear any obligations. This needs to happen to fund some proper signings and put an end to the clamour for someone to play just because he cost a few quid. He’s rubbish and would struggle to be listed in our top 20 in the last 10 years. It shows how bad we are when a section of our fans hold him in such high esteem .

I always thought their was 11 players on the pitch win as a team loose as a team if it wasn't carvalho taking the stick who prob Benny or one of the others yeah got a big price yet again it's it like he said pay stupid money for me ,they should flog him along with 10 others who have underachieving this season

Dan, I find your post unusual.
No Carvalho did not ask for the price tag, but he signed the contract with the clause with that exact amount. I know they have to have clauses in their contracts, but the players still have to agree to the amount.
Yes there are 11 players on the pitch, and to be successful all of them need to perform, but Lolley has shone a fair bit until he got two players marking him, and sometimes shines inspite of that as well.
Martins signings have done well on a whole, Grabban has done the business on a whole.
Osborn gets moved from pillar to post and therefore struggles to find any good form in any one position, although he will never make a quality left back.
Carvalho has under performed due to him use to having less time than he is use to on the ball, and he is not use to the rough treatment English teams dish out.
He could end up well worth his fee eventually but we paid Premier League prices for a player at the moment unable to cut it in the Championship, that is not a good thing.

I agree it's not that I'm trying to defend him but we've seen it so many times at this club kev Campbell came here and was useless for a couple of seasons before he started banging goals in , I just like to give players time maybe he's not good enough maybe next season be next Ronaldo, but for me the whole of the team need to take stock not just one.

Osborn struggles because he hasn't got a football brain,he has more energy than most footballers I've ever seen,but not the skill or awareness to go with it.
Just a headless chicken and at 24 no manager has found a permanent position for him.
Time for us to part with him for his own good and ours.
Hes played 200 games and doesn't and won't improve and only gets picked for his energy,what's the point of that?
Playing left back now?he's a dwarf and can't tackle just runs and runs,simply not good enough to hold down a permanent place in the side.
