That was tense. Last year we would have let a couple in in extra time. Different spirit out there now!

16 Feb 2019 20:21:42
We were out of luck, but what is a real plus is that MON/RK worked out how Preston play and stopped them doing just that. We had some bad luck and Grabban failed to take a chance, but we are moving our formations around and the two central defenders are stopping the old aerial threats and crosses.

We are improving and holding our own. Never give up: other results could surprise everyone. Hang in there and see if we can sweep up a few wins after Direby. This League can change rapidly, teams can falter, players can get injured, We look a much better team now, they need all our help on Monday!

1.) 17 Feb 2019 10:13:40
Agreed mate . we're heading into the "Squeaky bum" part of the season. just watch what happens in the next month, some crazy results are coming.

05 Feb 2019 12:51:52
Soudani out for the rest of the season. We do seem to pick up duds.

1.) 05 Feb 2019 13:21:18
Utter waste. He never looked fit

2.) 05 Feb 2019 15:48:40
Worse still he never looked any good

3.) 05 Feb 2019 16:34:53
Said it before and I’ll say it again, could’ve got Jack Marriot for the same transfer fee. Albeit Marriot rising to Β£6m dependant on appearances, goals etc; but he is into double figures goals wise, plays every game and never stops running and chasing down. Soudani is a dud, spends most of his time on the injured list and is a waste of money.
Another duff signing.

4.) 05 Feb 2019 17:19:13
So are we blaming this one on Team Marinakis or Aitor Karanka?

C'mon chaps, gimme a thumbs down if AK is to blame again, I like to be kept in the loop on this blame game.

5.) 05 Feb 2019 19:55:48
I'd say he wanted him as he tried to get him in the Jan window along with Dawson.
You've got to admit mate he is crap, one and a half millions worth as well.
THE point your missing is that karanka wanted so many out the door without giving a chance to most.
He got a superb performance out of the players he inherited against wolves so wholesale changes in the worst transfee window was not the answer, lolley being the only exception even with all his new additions he set a record that I doubt will be beaten for not scoring, his legacy is I'm afraid going to cost us,we can't be far off ffp now.

6.) 05 Feb 2019 21:40:44
Some of the duff signings were an act of sheer petulance after the Preston game which then became a grudge in the Summer. I still think the club signed the players but karanka probably insisted he wanted new players to replace all of those he bore a grudge against. Reality is most of them are worse than what we had before . Lord , what a mess again.

7.) 05 Feb 2019 21:50:33
2 star you've just landed on my planet.welcome πŸ‘

8.) 05 Feb 2019 23:01:16
After he spent 13.5 mill on carvalho everyone doubled there asking price when we showed interest, that deal should if been kept quiter, we were offered Marriott at 7 mill derby paid 3 mill plus add one same with bamford I'm sure I remember 14 mill being the price we were asked for yet he went to Leeds for 7 mill paying way over the odds for carvalho for everyone to see made your transfer business nearly impossible

9.) 06 Feb 2019 09:38:44
And where pray are these "culled" players plying their trade now?πŸ€”
Just think where we would be with them now?πŸ™„πŸ€£

10.) 06 Feb 2019 10:34:07
Same place as we are now😁😁😁

11.) 06 Feb 2019 10:48:17
It is interesting to watch people who were so utterly convinced we were moving forwards with AK now deciding the club is in a mess and making a lot of poor signings.

If we were making such great progress how come suddenly the same squad with players added (apart from Fox) is a bunch of "duds"?

12.) 06 Feb 2019 11:48:38
I was thinking the rc

13.) 07 Feb 2019 13:47:48
Ain't it all down to the players not performing last time I looked they are the ones on the pitch problem is the players they know their safe and its the manager who'll get the sack fare enough manager sets them up and provides the tactics but they have to show so character and some passion.

31 Jan 2019 21:03:10
Edser to Port Vale for the rest of the season. It'll do him good.

31 Jan 2019 18:25:53
Molla Wague likely to come in on loan, central defender.

1.) 31 Jan 2019 19:04:54
Italian window has closed? Can we still get the deal done or does it just stop Italian clubs signing?

2.) 31 Jan 2019 21:57:03
My widow is closed as well, freezing out there.😰😰

Seems the U18s and U23s are finishing the season very well, unlike our 1st Team.

1.) 16 Apr 2019 12:27:25
Yes it’s because they and successful championship sides above and below are teams. Our problem is that players keep coming in ( not going ! ) and it means we play as a group of individuals. Carvalho is an example, he is a team player as I am sure he was brought upto play. So players around him anticipate his pass. Osborne and Lolley team up but I think the rest play too much as individuals. I think we should play more home grown players who have known each other since they were 5! . Walker, Worrall, Grant, Appiah, Johnson , Yates, Cash, Osborne , Smith . Add to that those currently in the first team who are team players. Byram, Colback, Watson , Wague Pele, Robinson There you have a team . Some will argue that there is a deficit of talent. This will be more than compensated by how the game improves by playing together. Surely this was BC’s route to success

2.) 16 Apr 2019 17:40:54
If I remember BC brought players in from all over the place as Peter Taylor kept discovering them? It was just that BC and PT knew what positions they needed and what kind of players they could play together. One man does not make a team, they need to play in twos and threes all over the pitch.

13 Apr 2019 15:53:53
Looks like a slow slither down the table yet again. I don't see any answers to the way the team plays.

13 Apr 2019 14:11:51
Puzzling line up again. Three at the back? Wingbacks? Difficult to see MON's thinking.

1.) 13 Apr 2019 14:21:57
Players out of position

2.) 13 Apr 2019 14:34:16
Totally clueless. What planet is the Manager on? He must be taking advice from Keane and Johnstone. What does that tell us.

3.) 13 Apr 2019 14:55:13
He's taking advice?🀣🀣🀣

4.) 13 Apr 2019 15:39:38
FF. I'll give him some very good advice. QUIT!

12 Apr 2019 16:03:48
I'm beginning to think a recent poster on here who was howled down was right. The City Ground carries too much baggage in terms of what's gone on in the past, managers, players, trophies etc. Maybe Mr. M needs to build a new stadium elsewhere and start a whole new culture with new staff and new players. Seems like the past is constantly weighing us all down.

1.) 12 Apr 2019 16:34:44
Doesn't seem to bother Leeds, and Villa mate, and they've had success years ago too.

2.) 12 Apr 2019 16:49:12
You cannot run away from history bse.

3.) 12 Apr 2019 18:00:41
BS. what a crock of πŸ’©.
No need to move location.

4.) 12 Apr 2019 18:15:12
Excuses excuses.

5.) 12 Apr 2019 18:47:41
Fawaz,I wouldn't have put it quite like that??

6.) 12 Apr 2019 18:49:58
S Getty,I ran away from history.
Though the teacher soon caught up with me!!

7.) 12 Apr 2019 19:28:44
I would of thought that the history and great times we've had at the world famous city ground should inspire the players and staff if should be an honour to play there.ask the thousands of kids that don't make it as a pro footballer and they'd jump at the even have a go now at the tender age of 50

8.) 12 Apr 2019 19:49:03
Time out lads. RIP Tommy Smith.

9.) 12 Apr 2019 20:54:46
Agreed Rogie.

10.) 12 Apr 2019 21:07:16
Utter tosh bsered.
History is what makes us who we are.

09 Apr 2019 12:54:23
I have a sneaking suspicion that Figueredo might figure tonight either on the pitch or on the bench. He and Benlouane might be a good combo. Also time Yacob got a chance instead of Watson. Will Appiah get a full 45 minutes?

1.) 09 Apr 2019 13:00:34
Hopefully Milosovic for my money

2.) 09 Apr 2019 17:31:05
I agree creepy. Am not sure if Figgy is up to speed just yet.

We were so predictable under AK, people knew how to negate our football and our players easily. Now MON is mixing it up and using different personnel in different places to negate the opposition you want to go back to the predictable? In that case whatever the guy does in your opinion he cannot get it right. Either we give him a couple of seasons to see some improvement or we jump on to another manager and stay on the Championship merry-go-round and hover in the bottom 10 for the next 3-4 years until Marinakis goes.We need to stick with these men until they can build the right team to go up, let's face it few apart from Lolley could be any use in the Premier League - most of us agree on that. A sow's ear doesn't become a silk purse in 14 weeks.

The majority of players signed by MON are either on 18 month contracts or on loan. He's got 3 centre backs, and enough people on here were moaning about our lack of a central defender pairing just before he got them, and they started really well. I say again if we can stay in to top 10 that will be an improvement on last year, and at least we are not worried about relegation any more. 13 weeks is not enough in my books to judge any manager by, so let's not press the ridiculous panic-button again. Teams take a while to build. It took England long enough to produce a World Cup winning side, and my view is that in the Championship it's the hardest job of all to get in the Premier League then stay there. Forest have never had parachute payments like many clubs have. Krankie was disposed of, or walked, far too quickly. Owners have to be patient. I have my doubts that Mr. M. will be.

Geddy has done very little so far and tends to lose the ball a lot. Robinson gets too many yellow cards. We will have to wait to find the inside story.

They can have the bit round the running track, outside the pitch then.

According to the commentators on the I follow website, the only reason Appiah didn't play so well was that every time he got the ball he was fouled, so he had no chance to do anything. There were always two or three men at him, and the ref. failed to protect him.

Not often I agree with you Fff79, but you're dead right this time. Get a decent manager and stay with him even if it takes 2-3 years to get the team right. Trouble is MON has only given himself 18 months.

Walker in preference to Osborn? No way. Smith not up to it in goal - need a brand new young keeper capable of giving the ball to our outfield players not hoofing it into touch. Milosevich and Benalouane are both on 18 month contracts so won't be gone, and Yacob is still reliable as DM. We need better cover for left back, and a creative midfielder as JC doesn't cut it.I can't see Grabban moving clubs, nor Murphy.
We are weighed down with journeyman players, and if we sink any lower in the League Colback and Lolley will up and leave.

It is true that a lot has changed since Warby, where everyone on here was despising tippy-tappy football with passes sideways and backwards just to keep the ball and not getting anywhere. Let's just hope for a top 10 finish this year and a great clear-out and new players to take us forward. I'm not sure it's going to work that way, but we can always hope.
