It's been noticeable that during this International break, not many have posted about England. I just wish Southgate would go, you could say he's been successful, but won nothing. He cares more about being right on than winning a football game. I just wish we had a manager like Venables with these players, or anyone other than him!.

Why didn't Southgate tap Maguire on the shoulder and say this is your last game with me!. Instead of defending a player at the press conference, who cannot get into his team what brought him!

Southgate should be congratulated for providing a very good atmosphere for England players to work in - rather like our own Steve Cooper. However, I feel Southgate hasn’t got the minerals to alter a game's outcome- he is reactive rather than proactive.

And not a single rampaging Englishman on the pitch nor goal posts riotously destroyed! Just quietly back to England with a few drinks and a sense of satisfaction at a job well done. Could have been 5 or 6.
It’s odd that due to historically wildly inaccurate films like Braveheart everyone knows about Bannockburn but nobody knows about Flodden, Dunbar, Culloden etc ect major English victories. Guess that’s just the way it is….
By the way a regiment of cavalry called Kingstons Horse ( who took no part in the actual battle of Culloden) roamed the battlefield finishing off hundreds of wounded Highlander. To our eternal shame the troopers were mainly men from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. But keep it under your hats friends, don’t want to be provoking people!

The UK has many faults Mohamred, like every other country on the planet, buts it’s still like a winning lottery ticket to be a UK citizen.
I don’t condone the ruthless actions of Kingstons men nor the Commander HRH Prince William Duke of Cumberland ( sweet William to England, the Butcher of Culloden to rebellious Scots) but the Highlanders had taken up arms against the King of the whole of Britain and were thus traitors committing the Act of Treason which was punishable by death.
If the other side had won they would undoubtedly have done the same and hunted down the Redcoats.
Incidentally it was Cumberland’s innovation to train his infantry to use long bayonets against the Scottish claymores but to stab the man to their diagonal right thereby avoiding the targe or small shield and into the exposed ribs below the raised sword arm of the Highlander. Many of the dead had identical wounds in this area.

I think Maguire is an excellent player. If Tin Hat doesn't rate him I would not be bothered. If he became available at a reasonable cost I'd snap him up. Southgate is the best England Manager since Ramsey.
