I was very excited when I heard about the plans to develop the City Ground but when I saw the computer images I was totally disappointed. Basically we a building a bog standard stand the type of which have been built for decades with no attempt to link it to the Trent End or Bridgford End which would have helped improve the atmosphere even more. Looks like no imagination has been used at all! The plans for outside the ground seem even worse - let's build some flats then rather than create a place that the fans can enjoy with bars and restaurants making most of the location by the Trent. I suspect they are using the architects who designed that unique embarrassment AKA the Bridgford Stand. Let's hope the supports trust gets involved.

I think you will find it is only there to serve as a idea of what it could look like.

It was mentioned that they will consult with fans and then the plans will go before the councils planing department for approval.

It could be a variation of the computer images that finally get approved.

What has been shown is a vast improvement of the ground as it is as of now.

Just no pleasing some people.

Thing is tree if you join all the stands up you would create a problem for sunlight to get to the pitch.
The problem with the bridgford end are the houses behind it objecting to blocking out the light, unless we can purchase the properties it's always a problem.
You can't be disappointed mate the owners are putting a lot of money into building the stand alone, you can't expect them to build a whole new stadium.
Personally think it's great and 38000 is more than enough seats,so it gets a big thumbs up from me.

Nice one - didn’t think it would be long before we had a list lamb or a Sadpie in here !

Tree1 I suggest you read up on information available to us. I think you may change your point of view.

2 Star, can you share the information available to you and your chums? I have tried to read everything posted on the web so far.
By way of background I went to a business meeting about 15 years ago with prospective clients who were the architects that designed the Bridgford End and Trent End Stands.

The pictures of both stands were displayed throughout their offices and their literature, and guess what they were a firm based in Derby about 200m meters from Poo Park or whatever they call it now, so who had the last laugh there? At least they have a joined up stadium albeit built by IKEA.
And as for not pleasing everyone, exactly, I’m not happy and want better and that attitudute is why we have been in the Championship for the last 20 years. .we need to do better.

In terms of the light not reaching the grass, the Pricipality stadium in Wales uses light generators when the stadium is not in use to grow the grass all year round resulting in the best atmosphere in world rugby. And as for nor buying the houses behind the Bridgford stand, well how difficult is that? How many millions have we wasted on players over the last 20 years?
Come on any 5 year old could have come up with the latest plan in 10 mins. No imagination at all and no vision whatsoever.

Tree 1, do one!

So Tree, what you are saying is a business that js losing money big time should spend a massive amount year round on creating false light to grow grass.

Marinakis has been encouraging fans for input regarding the work at the CG. Perhaps you should give him a call, Tree1?

If your asking how hard it is to buy up those houses, then the answer is extremely hard.
The only way you can purchase all of those houses is compulsory, but that needs government help which would probably not happen as your forgetting the land the city ground stands on belongs to the council and is leased to us,so who would need to buy those houses? So not quite as easy as you think and house prices in bridgford are at a premium.
Also for our owners to be prepared to embark on a very expensive venture like this when we are a championship side should be applauded bearing in mind we only lease the land.

Tree 1, are you sad and lonely. Seeking a little bit of attention?Forest have owned houses behind Bridgford end for years. Mr Columbo said enjoy chip Friday.

Jesus Christ. these people actually walk among us!!

01 Mar 2019 11:45:31
I read somewhere that the corners need to be open for pitch drainage into the Trent and to build round the corners would mean the foundations would block that.

01 Mar 2019 11:46:10
Tree1 There is always at least one naysayer. Are you Basils BB in disguise?

As for a wrap around stadium how would the mist rolling in from the Trent get to our beloved City Ground? DOH!🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The empty corners at the City Ground reduce the atmosphere??

Well it didn't harm the atmosphere against Derby on Monday night, the place was rocking. Imagine it with an extra 8,000 people! That's more than good enough for me.

I prefer the look of the old-style grounds anyway, not these modern, generic fishbowls you get nowadays.
