Does anyone know if our pitch is unique? Our injuries have been endless. At the moment we have Hefele, Cash and Grabban with bad or moderate Achilles injuries. Dawson ham string and Figueiredo-? a blood clot -. Soldano - knee, Byram knee . Also no one can forget Britt 's severe knee injury when not near the ball and poor CC's battered knees . Is this bad luck are these injuries found in every club or is it our ' unique ' pitch.

Not all of the injuries have occurred on our 'unique pitch'. Other clubs have injuries as well, some of which, are long term and some aren't.

Dougie Freedman put it down to "aggressive grass"

The same must be said for Old Trafford then. 4 injuries yesterday and a 5th with Rashford. I think the issue lies with the lack of breaks between fixtures and congestion. I personally think we should have extended seasons and not have night matches except in the cases of cup games and fixture postponements.

Seriously has there ever been a club with 3 players out with Achilles injuries ??

I raised this issue on here over two years ago. The pitch is regularly relaid with grass, but as far as I am aware the underlayers of soils, sand etc are not. It would be interesting technically to find out what exactly the composition of the City Ground pitch is, and how it compares with other clubs' surfaces.
Some on here may remember that Chris Cohen, injured a lot in his time at the CG, had to be taught how to avoid getting injured in tackles. However a lot of injuries occur when players simply twist or fall awkwardly - I saw Dawson do this in what seemed an innocuous enough fall.
Maybe there needs to be some education of our squads about the right and wrong way of balancing on different kinds of surfaces, and how to avoid all forms of leg injuries.
Psycho was so muscularly strong that he rarely got injured, and I notice Osborn is similar in that respect. On the other hand Bobby Charlton and George Best never got injured because they just jumped over or out of the way of tackles!
