Dale Taylor had a good season in league one.
Stick him in the squad or let him play every week in the championship……. thoughts?
27 Jul 2025 19:00:17
He's had plenty of League One experience and done well so I'd say send him to a Championship side and see if he can make the step up.
27 Jul 2025 19:11:57
You're talking my language this evening 2 Stars! I say bring him straight into training with the 1st team, foregoing the Championship, and let CW take him under his wing to help teach him 'the tricks of the trade'. Young Dale has serious talent.
27 Jul 2025 19:28:05
He hasn't gone on tour to Portugal with the 1st team squad so it looks like he's on the way somewhere.
27 Jul 2025 19:29:43
Oh, I think he could do a job at any level with the right service, by the way. Nuno won't give him a chance ahead of Jesus, Wood or Awoniyi though, in my opinion.
27 Jul 2025 19:46:40
OMG!
WELL DONE UUUUU LIONESSSSS'S!
FANTASTIC!
27 Jul 2025 19:51:52
Am I right in thinking Hampton the keeper was trusted for this tournament. and the established one retired, aswell as 2 others?
Stuff that dreams are made off!
That girl was brilliant throughout!
Well done again!
27 Jul 2025 19:56:36
League 1 is his level so why not leave him there?
11 goals is hardly setting the world alight is it?
I understand the desire for us to think he can make the grade but he isn't that good, he really isn't.
27 Jul 2025 20:13:45
I'm with Fred on this one
I said before that we haven't got players coming through just yet that can cut the premier, maybe Abbott?
If they aren't ready at 19 to 20 then they won't make it
We have wood, awoniyi and jesus, I doubt there is room for taylor.
27 Jul 2025 20:25:42
For once, I disagree with you Fred. I think he has the 'nuisance factor' combined with good finishing. OK, hardly the polished-article I agree, but I've been following young Dale's progress over the last year or so and I think he could be a great player given the right opportunity and nurturing. Think about the service Dale has had from the wingers at Wigan - hardly top quality, yet he scores 11 goals.
I'd definitely give him a go.
27 Jul 2025 20:46:39
Yes lego but it's league one
Just like obrien in the championship
Can look good at that level for a reason.
27 Jul 2025 20:49:31
Fair enough Legolas but I'll give some substance to my argument.
I've seen him play for Burton Albion on a few occasions in person plus a lot of folk I know are Burton fans.
They all said the same thing, bang average.
Also interesting is that after a so called good season at Wigan he's now being linked with 2 more league 1 clubs in Plymouth and Blackpool.
27 Jul 2025 22:19:12
Fred and DTP - I hear what you're both saying Gents and I respect that. However, at what stage (in football and in life) do you decide to grab the bull by the balls and say 'this is an opportunity' and go for it? Or should we ignore that opportunity and seek the 'safe route'? Imagine if someone hadn't taken a gamble on Rooney as a youngster.
Nope - Dale is not 'bang average' IMO. He is a player with massive potential which will only be realised if he is given a chance surrounded by the right players.
27 Jul 2025 22:36:07
I'll say this lego
Look how well forest b did last season and then look how many we let go?
Mainly because they where 21 plus
We aren't in the championship anymore m, Osong? Another that was supposed to be the real deal?
He couldn't get a game on loan
I admire your loyalty and optimum about the academy, but it'll take a few mire years before we see true quality.
27 Jul 2025 23:03:49
Lol Legolas it wasn't a gamble with Rooney but it would be with Taylor!
Have a look at Rooney's stats. He scored 72 goals in a season playing for Liverpool schoolboys. 99 goals in his final season playing for a boys club then 114 goals in 29 games playing for Everton under 10's and 11's!
If that's taking a gamble on him it was a pretty safe bet lol.
27 Jul 2025 23:31:03
It all depends how much we believe in and invest in the Academy DTP. The more we do so, the quicker our home-grown talent will emerge (whilst avoiding FFP in the process).
It wasn't so long ago that the Breadman was given the task of developing our Academy to quickly progress our young talent into our 1st team. I thought at the time that this was a stroke of genius, until the rug was pulled from under Warburton's feet. I felt sorry for the guy.
I still think that the concept is sound though and makes total sense. Especially, if we were to bring back Cooper to oversee the process of developing our young players.
27 Jul 2025 23:56:09
Your not listening lego
It will come good but not overnight mate, we've invested heavily in it and are progressing, but a few years away from producing premier talent.
28 Jul 2025 00:07:32
Well, judging by your superb Google skills Fred it's a good job that I'm not a gambling man!
However, I make no apology for living life by my heart and not my head. I'd now be dead or constantly living in a wheelchair if I did otherwise.
I wonder how many 'stats' Peter Taylor analysed before getting Cloughie to sign new blood at Forest? I would suggest very few. Taylor had a natural eye for football talent. Re-incarcernated in Cooper if we were to bring him back?
28 Jul 2025 10:48:53
Well 2stars, that was a good chat about Dale Taylor you managed to start. ??.
28 Jul 2025 11:22:57
Gold Stars, Silkman and Lego, I agree entirely with your posts. It’s no brainer to try young Dale Taylor at the next level up in the Championship. Also to invest as much time and money in our Academy. It pays for itself in the long term. You could even argue that selling the likes of Dawson, Reid, Johnson et al have kept us afloat as a going concern.
From what I’ve seen of Dale he ( and others like Sinclair) deserve time to have a good look. Didn’t Harry Kane and Dele Ali learn their trade on loan in the lower leagues?
We must have patience. It’s no good comparing our lads atm with Rooney. He was a once in a generation child prodigy with awesome talent and attitude. I’d be grateful for a handful of players of good Premier standard, like Yates and Johnson, then build on that.
28 Jul 2025 13:15:24
Apparently Stokey Forest would like a Championship club to come in for him but that requires a Championship club to want him and we can't force him on anyone.
If they think he's good enough one will come in for him, if not they won't and the likelihood is he'll stay in league 1.
To say he's ready for a squad place at Forest though is really pushing the boat out.
28 Jul 2025 21:34:04
There's a desperate one 16 miles down A52 Fred, but we aren't best of relations with them for some reason? ??
On a serious note I do think he's found his level, nothing wrong in that as he'll still enjoy and earn a decent living from football.
29 Jul 2025 13:15:40
And they lost at Burton in a friendly on Saturday ?.
