Tick tock, tick tock. The clock is ticking towards the end of the transfer window and potential signings aren't exactly lining-up in a fight to play for us are they Reds?
As I said before - perception is reality. It seems that we are either:
1. Going for top players whom have numerous suitors and will either reject us or we will have to pay over-the-odds for their services (with their hearts not sold on the Forest-cause), or:
2. We will end up signing unknowns in the faint hope that they will be the answer to the fact that our best, proven players are being cherry-picked from us.
However we, as a Club, have come up with perfect solutions to problems in the past by thinking 'outside the box'.
I'm having a John Lennon moment here Reds (but without the Pot) - just imagine if we were to break the mould again of the football establishment and go all-in to self-development as a Club? I know that I may be sounding like a broken-record here - but I'm convinced we should invest everything we can in our Academy and appoint Cooper in charge of it.
I think, assuming that we don't lose any more key players in this window, we still have the backbone of a good team. As Bowie rightly said however - give the Academy players hope about playing for the 1st team again and you watch them develop extremely quickly to fill the gaps that we have.

Bit early for the "had to much to drink" posts? ?.

Lol sorry lego, tis the cornish mischief maker in me?
Its actually a good idea but I'd say it'll take a whole lot more investment and time to come to the fore.
Apparently that Northern Irish lad we brought to the academy is exceptional for his age and has already got first team experience over there and has goals. 16 years old now. ?.

Three have gone to Mansfield lego, problem is they are already 21, which is to old to
make an impact at premier level
Like I've said it will take years to bring through real q6ality from the academy.

Mate, our academy is light years away from a top tier club, all those years of mediocrity meant the best young uns went elsewhere. lad in my daughters year 10 playing a year up for forest n also plays for Wales. once they get to 16 they can sign for anyone.

Forget your Cornish mischief-making Winter! I'm in a reflective mood tonight. We all remember 'believing in miracles' which came to fruition in the past under both Clough and Cooper. They say that good things happen in threes. So, why not believe in the unthinkable happening again?
I hear what the doubters are saying about the time-constraints. However, who knows? With significant investment in our Academy from Big M, with Cooper in charge and surrounded by the best talent scouts and coaches we can afford - I'd suggest we could progress young talent into our first team much quicker than you'd imagine.

Six weeks until the transfer window closes. Loads will happen by then.
It's easy to get fed up when rumours are we are going for hard to get players and don't get them. But it makes sense to try for players at the top of the list first. Some of the rumours are probably just based on clubs asking about players and making preliminary enquiries and probably don't go any further except in the papers/ media.
My tip is not to get too annoyed by the rumours and treat it like entertainment. Better than Coronation Street, and now and again they are bang on like the ones about Jesus and Jair Cunha, Danilo etc. You have to read through the chaff to get to the wheat.
And lease don't get upset with meor assume I think they are all true or going to happen. I'm just posting rumours. You can tell what I think if I make a comment after the rumour like "looks a good player" or "believable". But that's it, I know they are rumours. They are not, "my opinion" or me being optimistic.
I am optimistic we can sign good players to replace the ones who are leaving. We have recruited well in recent seasons. That's all.

I hope you're right Cyclist. I do. however, think that this knee-jerk reaction we have adopted to recruitment at Forest will not serve us particularly well going forward.
18 Jul 2025 21:58:51
He will be right lego
We will sign at least six players
Purely because we have to to compete in four competitions
It's alright nuno wanting a small tight knit squad, but he can't have that anymore with Europe aswell.

Winter - I can't remember where you said you were originally from in West Cornwall, but Mrs Legolas and I got home this evening after a few nights away in St Ives. What a beautiful place.
18 Jul 2025 22:23:24
Whoever we sign or whoever we already have, they will move on in 3 to 5 years max
What you're looking for lego doesn't exist in football.

A good manager/ coach can hold players. Look at clough/ taylor. Ok them days are gone. But klopp seemed to have the same strength. Never lose hope lego. Keep the faith ?.

Lego, Porthleven mate, St Ives is beautiful but far to many emmits for my liking.
Bowie agreed mate, if we stick with Nuno maybe he could be the one who makes them stay, his humble nature and charisma is clearly a draw for players like Aina, Sels, Williams and fingers crossed CHO. The dressing room seems to be great these days and the players together.
One bad egg out the door and hopefully another to follow and over 100mil banked. Couple of fullbacks, couple of combative midfielders, a winger and a no.10 and we're winning. ?.

Think three little birds, "every little ting is going to be alright" ?.

It's a great pity Paul Hart wasn't 20 years younger, he would find and progress players from the academy, just Google how many players he produced for Forest and Leeds. Now working a few days a week for Carlisle as a consultant, I for one will keep a eye on there progress!.

With ya winter ?.
