Just a couple of thoughts on Chelsea to mull over.
Their 2 midfielders Calceido and Fernandez cost £113 m and £106 m respectively. Palmer was cheap at £40 million, Cucurella £ 62 million and so it goes on. puts things in perspective as far as us punching above our weight is concerned doesn't?
However, we all hope they one eye on the Conference final next week which they've put a lot of effort into then the extremely lucrative World Club Competition starting on June 15th.
Make no mistake comrades we are underdogs on Sunday so that should be the basis of Nunos team talk. Let's have a real go against the ( slightly underachieving) golden boys ( like we did at their place).
I think their key player with be Anthony Taylor myself.

I think that you may like this Stokey. My late-Dad's favourite quote which he drilled into me. Very relevant for Sunday:
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".
Calvin Coolidge. Ex-US President. 1894.

Wow, a different world from my upbringing. I was told, nobody is better than you and you are no better than anyone else. My dad, a straight guy who told it like it was. I like to think I'm similar.

Lego that’s a great quote and I agree with the Coolidge ‘s opinion entirely.
As for Sunday, ( and the other games against the moneybags clubs this season) I look at squad monetary values as a rough guide to what we are up against in terms of resources and quality. I assume the hard headed money and football men who sadly run the game these days know what they are doing. There are occasional failures ( Anthony at Man Utd anybody) but generally money buys success.
At Forest, having been stung once by FFP we have to be a bit cagey. Our recruitment has been first rate this season ( Sels, Murillo, Malenkovic, Elanga, Aina virtually the whole team for comparative peanuts). It’s like Mr M and his advisers have read the book “Moneyball” and seen the brilliant film starring Brad Pitt. It’s almost an algorithm.
Which makes Cloughs ( and particularly Taylor’s) recruitment incredible. Very rarely did they splash out big sums of money. Francis was the exception rather than the rule. As you say, they looked for character, talent, skill and workrate. The list of players was remarkable. Woodcock, O Neill, Robertson, Anderson home grown, Clarke and Big Larry past their best supposedly, Burnsy a bad boy with attitude, troublesome, a budding Joey Barton, Birtles a carpet fitter from Long Eaton. The list is long. All had the characteristics that Calvin Coolidge names. A great and interesting post my friend ??.

By the way Lego and Winter, to cheer you up, your molecules will survive in some form or another for ever. Maybe, over billions of years, incorporated into a new life form. According to Antoine Lavousiers theory of conserved mass, matter cannot be created or destroyed only changed in form. So, for example, water ( of which 90% of the average body consists of) can be changed into ice or gas molecules. It’s likely that some small part of us all will be recycled to be part of a galaxy far, far away. The Buddhists have it about right and Joni Mitchell certainly does in her song “ We are stardust, we are golden”.
Hope this has raised your spirits chaps.
By the way, MV, this only applies no non nuclear burning, where the atom is split. So, your combustion temperature would have to be the result of a nuclear bomb going off next to you. Most crematoria don’t have the facilities to do this …………???????????.

Actually stokey that's really depressed me. not only the long comments which I'm just waking up from ? and the fact I could spend billions of years being recycled into the galaxy and knowing my luck that bit of me would end up next to a bit of you that would be my hell ???.

Skegs your bit of water is definitely turning into gas mate??.
24 May 2025 17:05:18
Your molecules would definitely be anti matter Skegs, mate because you’re against bloody everything! ?????????.
