Reds. Today is my 55th birthday! I don't mind admitting that, despite my Drs orders, I'm tipsy already and have the aim of getting right royally drunk tonight to celebrate.

Without wanting to sound depressing, no-one ever expected to see me turn 55 four years ago. However, I'm loving my 2nd life and also loving making others' lives better in the process.

I'm not posting this for birthday wishes. I am writing this to hopefully make you all think - live life to the full my friends as you never know what's waiting around the corner.

Thank you all for your unwitting help and support for me along the way. Right, where did I leave my wine?!

Agree2 Disagree0

Happy Birthday Legless mate! If I’d been granted a reprieve from meeting St Peter at the Pearly Gates I’d be tipsy every night! Screw this survivors guilt ?carry on going for it as I know you will….
“ Do not go gentle into that good night
But rage, rage, against the dying of the light “
All the best! ??????????.

To die completely, a person must not only forget but be forgotten, and he who is not forgotten is not dead.

Happy birthday geezer!

Always remember Legless that getting old is like frying bacon whilst stark naked. You know it’s going to hurt, you just don’t know where…….

My wife has reached that time in her life where an operation is needed. She has just gone in for an hysterical rectum.

29 Oct 2024 18:33:44
I hope the op goes well for your wife Socks. Crap getting older with all the health issues, isn't it? Maybe let her know that a bloke with no legs wishes her well!

I woke up this morning with the hangover from hell. I'm not going to drink alcohol again - until this weekend.

Saw a talk by Simon Weston last week, inspiring for anyone to hear especially so for people with disabilities.
Anything is possible.
CARLO
Birthday Wishes.

Legless, sore head today hope it was worth it.

Carlo, back in the 1980, s I was in a hotel in Ashford standing next to me in the gents was an Soldier, with very impressive badges on his arms. We started chatting and it turned out he was the chief medical officer in the Falklands. As we were both staying at the hotel we ate our evening meal together. Stories told were astonishing.

An amazing man Carlo. I have always admired him.

I suppose the bottom-line is that life has a nasty habit of kicking us all in the crutch at some stage. We have to accept that. However, it's how we cope with that 'kick' that defines our futures after health issues. Is anything possible after disability? I think anything is possible for both able-bodied and disabled people if they have a positive mental attitude.

As my mate rocky said the world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. its a very mean nasty place. and I don't care how tough you are. it will beat you to your knees and keep you down permanently if you let it. you me or nobody is going to hit hard as life. but it ain't about how hard you hit. its about how hard you can hit and keep moving forward. how much you can take and keep moving forward that's how winnings done.

In my time on this site, I don't think that I've ever seen a more meaningful and measured post from you Skegs. I like it mate.

Hope you had a good Birthday Legless, sounds like you had a couple of pops, it's good to hear we never learn from our last hangovers.

As Homer used to say, 'Marge, I haven't learnt a thing'

Thanks for your kind messages guys. I still feel a bit hungover now! My kidney function has probably slipped from 50% back down to 25% from that one night. I had to be quite discreet ditching all the wine bottles into the recycling box outside earlier!
