Well the carve up of the river bank is being sorted, paying the old Britannia rowing club £1-2 million, for all the history that belongs with the club. The big groups and soloisys who performed there are turning in there graves. Even some Forest stars and from other clubs have had fantastic nights there. I know they have, I was there.
History has gone, but will not be forgotten all its for is for a car park. Have been reminiscing and taking photos and got momentos. Nothing lasts for ever, enjoy your football, who knows what the future holds.

It hasn't been open since 2023, good riddance to it.

2.) 25 Feb 2025 11:09:26
Can’t believe I saw Rod Stewart live there back in the day. The next time I saw him it was at a sell out Britannia Stadium!

{Ed001's Note - Rod Stewart? I went to a party at his house when I was living in the Windsor area. My then-girlfriend and her best mate fell asleep on his drive, absolutely passed out drunk, because it was heated. It was winter and there was snow everywhere but on the drive. I just went home and left them there. I don't know why, but she was not happy with me when she finally got home.}

3.) 25 Feb 2025 13:22:20
Was he "Sailing " by any chance Stokey?
⛵️⛵️⛵️
???.

4.) 25 Feb 2025 13:24:19
Great story Ed! That sight probably inspired him to do a cover of the Jerry Lee Lewis song “ What made Milwaukee Famous”…. ?????.

{Ed001's Note - I will have to google that song now.}

5.) 25 Feb 2025 13:25:24
"Some guys have all the luck" mate.
???.

6.) 25 Feb 2025 14:58:33
Well red vale, didn't they let you in, or it wasn't your type of club. Probably a Palais dance man yourself. Palais not my cup of tea.

7.) 25 Feb 2025 15:01:49
By the way, asI used to frequent the Brit in social and rowong terms the vast majority of rowers were tradesmeen, and the like. You could say a working mans club.

8.) 25 Feb 2025 16:28:21
Went to the union club once back in the early 70s, full of long haired hippy's in afgan coats stinking of Indian oil and Joss sticks, so no not my cup of tea. At least in the palasi you could tell a girl from a boy. Saved a lot of time believe me. But if we're going for it, I could be found in either Anabelle's or the bodega clubs at the weekend.

9.) 25 Feb 2025 17:19:13
Ed 1, went to a party at Rod Stewarts house! Can't beat that one, but I do meet up with Skegs and balloons every year in Vegas, that must be close. Regarding reminiscing about the boat club, I'm afraid nothing lasts forever. At least you lads have great memories and stories to tell about a place that had massive stars play there.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I would think a lot of things would beat that, never been a Rod Stewart fan at all. And it was all people I didn't know, thought the missus and her friends would going all fan girlyish over these random peeps that were apparently famous but I had no idea who they are.}

10.) 25 Feb 2025 17:30:23
Rogie, mate. I’m not sure “ This Old Heart of Mine” can stand any more quips like those……. ????.

11.) 25 Feb 2025 17:58:55
It's better in Skeg Vegas MV. £1.79 a pint proper fish and chips, non stop banter and you get the luxury of pouring me onto the bus at the end. ??.

12.) 25 Feb 2025 18:02:34
Also saw Led Zeppelin at the boat club. £1 to get in also Jimi Hendrix who was support act to Amen Corner ????.

13.) 25 Feb 2025 18:08:05
Killing of georgie, oi you lot not geordie. Best ever. Along with handbags and gladrags. The best ever. Loved rods approach to football in general. Like all of us. Loves the game. Stereofakists, ripped off handbags and glad rags so close. I was expecting the lead singer to say "tonight Mathew I'm going to be pod stewart. Unreal. Then walk out looking like bernard manning as they used to, doing the Nolan sisters etc.

14.) 25 Feb 2025 18:11:45
As I had joined the brit rowing club for a sub of £5 a year, you got free admission in all clubs in Nottingham for free as most staff at the clubs rowed for a few clubs along the trent.
As a member we got the stage and club ready for the evenings and meeting the soloists and groups. One late sunday afternoon we painted inside the dance area and customers were coming in and leaning on wet walls. Ooops.

15.) 25 Feb 2025 18:28:36
Yeah led zeppelin went down like a lead balloon or was it red, (actually Keith moon helped em with there name saying it) jimmy hendrix rip off of Dylans along the watchtower, sure I've told ya one of my all time best ever.
Amen corner, in skegness. Brilliant for boxes of broken penguin biscuits and rip off scotch eggs. or itchy love eggs. Still sell the news of the world. Awwww ya know I luv ya son.

16.) 25 Feb 2025 19:42:50
Down town train one of rod Stewart's better songs, mind you there were a lot. I watched the Alan hull documentary the other day, absolutely fantastic, the man was a genius and so down to earth when compared to others of the same time. You were very lucky to have him Bowie very lucky.

17.) 25 Feb 2025 20:14:17
I understand that we all walked different paths during our lives, my gripe with the Brit club is back in 2019 when forest applied for planning the Brit club and Nottingham university tried everything to get the new stand stopped. If they had taken the money offered we would have a new stand and the persistence of relocating would be a thing of the past, and 50mil better off.

18.) 25 Feb 2025 20:32:41
I accidentally bumped into Rod Stewart literally at Cheltenham races, ( ain’t quite got the ring of going to a party at his house ?) almost put him on his his arse, said to my mate, that stupid old bloke thinks he’s Rod Stewart, turns out it was him?.

19.) 25 Feb 2025 20:46:06
Stevie f, ???.

20.) 25 Feb 2025 21:14:32
??? day at the races stevie.

21.) 25 Feb 2025 21:51:56

Have you seen the Haaland deal.
Nine and a half year contract, paying him £500, 000 a week. Stupid money for one player, what revenue for the whole team. Some more great deals as well somewhere.

Redsocks22

1.) 17 Jan 2025 11:35:50
He'll soon want to leave if they get a points deduction and end up relegated.

2.) 17 Jan 2025 13:11:35
I thought the football authorities had banned that length of deal after Chelsea’s dealings?

{Ed001's Note - no, just banned amortising the cost of the transfer fee over the length of them.}

3.) 17 Jan 2025 13:46:03
Win Win for Mr Haaland.

4.) 17 Jan 2025 15:32:36
Nearly as much as his dad earned with us.
CARLO.

5.) 17 Jan 2025 22:33:39
Ed1, if those wages are correct that’s an ongoing investment of between £200 m and £250m on ONE player. That tells me that Man City are very very confident of winning their FFP hearing. Of course, they could cash in and sell him if the wheel does come off but in those circumstances it would be a fire sale. In any event very few if any clubs could afford him or his wages ( and why would he take a cut? ).
Whats your interpretation Ed?

{Ed001's Note - have you not noticed his contract is 115 months long? City are laughing at us all mate. I just think they don't give a toss because the owners can afford it.}

6.) 18 Jan 2025 09:45:55
That’s a sensational thought Ed ( though you’d probably think of a different word to describe it! ). So, if City were to be found guilty and docked enough points to be relegated ( this is pure speculation by the way) would they keep the all stars squad together, take the financial hit then stroll back to the Prem and hope to avoid future sanctions by doing a Leicester ( ie hiding in the jurisdiction gap between the Prem and the EFL? And so the whole process starts again. Fascinating really…….
Am I right in thinking that transferring the debt by issuing shares ( like Mr M. but on a massive scale) only applies to infrastructure and not players wages and transfers?

{Ed001's Note - I really think they would just take the financial hit, if the players will stay and then do what Leicester has done. The Prem and EFL need to get their act together and close that loophole for cheats to use.

You can't run up debt from investors (ie owners) to use for transfer and salaries no, not for PRS purposes anyway.}

7.) 18 Jan 2025 11:21:19
Thanks Ed thought so. It’s going to get very interesting…….

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't be surprised if they get away with it, even though we all know they are guilty and almost everything in there has already been proven once by UEFA and CAS to be true.}

8.) 19 Jan 2025 06:40:27
Man C just flaunting the rules by amortising the cost of a player over a ridiculous period. There should be no points deduction or proceedings taken against any club until the outstanding cases have been brought to a conclusion.

{Ed001's Note - they have not done that.}

Is it in the contract that he could be dragged kicking and screaming to play in Greece, regardless what he wants.

I know its all hogwash to some and they never will experience anything, your imagination can play tricks and may be it has. The most frightening was the gas tanker crash in spain.
Not the same as coppers nous, totally different.
Any one liken or resemblance to any thing mentioned is purely coincidental. Phew got that in.

No not that one, Halloween. Funny thing moved from Stamford to just outside Nottingham, didn't know but found many relations buried in village. On checking my family tree, it goes all the way back to John Rogers who rewrote the catholic bible for Henry V111 and duly executed by Mary, and Thomas Tomkin who also was. Some of my ancestors sailed on the first voyage of the Mayflower.

One day Sokey, my gran in the 1939/ 40, s was regarded as the best reader of the future in the midlands. Crystal ball now lies in the bottom of Nottingham canal. Myself I have had experience s. The most chilling was in the 1969, s I think it was a liquid gas tanker lost its brakes downhill and crashed into a campsite on the coast in Spain. I personally had a nightmare two days prior to it, many died and could not be found. There are the odd recall of it, but try to lose the image, and other images appesr of other things which I wake in a cold sweat. Nuts and crazy you say, I take your point but You should try living with it. Just one last thing to think I am completely nuts, have a guess when its my birthday.

StokeyI can tell you of strange occurrences at East Midlands, as when it was a farm. I worked on electrical maintenance on it in the early sixties and I myself witnessed possibly things that happened that resembled war occurrences. Enough said don't want botheri ng about its history.
