FA cup final day brings back some great tv and family memories for people of a certain age. The fa cup breakfast, watching the reporters on the coaches going to Wembley, quizzes, and just general excitement of a massive day. Didn't matter who played it was just a huge event, how many kids in 20-30 years time will talk about memories of watching fa cup finals at home with family and friends? Our local paper shop used to sell the final programmes and it made you think you were at the game-didn't need the media madness that we have now. As a kid we didn't have much money and we were easily pleased (highlight of the week was a pot noodle ?) but I'd take my 70's and 80's up bringing over anything now. Made in 1972-Built to make the most of it, to appreciate things and be grateful for whatever comes your way (not a bad outlook on life especially as a forest fan).

Agreed 2tone. It was a day to look forward to. It's changed so much and definitely not for the better imo or am I just an old fart yearning for the past?
Yeah, I'm an old fart.

Best years ever to be a kid, 100%. Just enough electrical gadgets for a rainy (being out was always the preferred option) if it was too rubbish to go out but gadgets have taken over and being out seems to have gone out of fashion.

Absolutely right lads, there just isn't that same build up
However it was our Mighty Forest?.

I used to do me paper round, go home with a few bags of sweets, then from about 9:30 it was the build up, sat there till the end. Then out on the street with mates kicking a football about, trying some of the stuff we just saw.
Loved growing up in the seventies, but some things I don't miss "Love they Neighbour" never be made today, sugar shortage, power cuts, and definitely GG?.

Aye, I remember we used to live in a shoe box in the middle of the road! My Dad used to get up 2 hours before he went to bed to pull all his work in and Mum used to beat us to sleep with a broken bottle!
?????.
