Nuno wanted Traore and some full backs who were available early. That's why he doesn't feel backed or listened to. Maffeo and Traore were available a while ago but Edu didn't want to sign them as he clearly thought they weren't the right players/ deals.

I'm not bying the media hysteria. Marinakis is not the nutter they make him out to be. Nuno, Marinakis and the club will be able to work out what is the best thing to do. I don't think Nuno wants to leave. He wants to feel part of the project and to stay. He's obviously saying it loudly so the club can sack him if they like.

Buying players was going to happen whoever is head coach. That is not backing the coach. Backing the coach is including him, as a crucial part of planning, in some of the decision-making.

I'm not in charge of the college/ school when I'm working as a maths and science coach/ teacher. But my bosses still include me in planning meetings, ask my opinion on stuff. Good managers do include the people involved in running things in key decision-making.

The situation is not unresolvable. But if the parties disagree how to work, they either compromise or part ways. It's normal in any line of work.

Great post. Spot on.

He's the coach though and he knew hiw things work at forest with a recruitment team and a philosophy of signing young players with a sell on value, traore like a few say on here has very little end product and no sell on value at his age
I prefer the signings we've made to those you mention nuno wanted
He should be grateful for the squad wr now have and if not walk away and let another coach enjoy it.

Problem is there are three big egos that don’t fit together, so who will make way? I can’t see them making up. If Nuno wants out we should consider Silva if he wants to come. Our guys need a therapist to sort them out and make them behave!

DTP, I've explained why it isn't that simple above. Good managers (if that is what Edu is) make their staff feel included.

Plenty of big organisations have several big ego's in them and function. It depends on how good the person at the top is at running the show.

The irony is, that Nuno has only played the kind of football that would make me warm to his football style once. In the last game against Brentford. Before that, he did nothing to excite me in terms of the kind of football I want to watch. Lovely guy. I'm glad we were winning more, but you'd have to be a complete muppet not to get a good squad to win games, IMO.

If he goes, I'd like to see Brendan Rogers. Attacking, flowing, possession based. High press, high energy. 4:3:3 or 4:2:3:1. With these players, that would be exciting to watch!

???BOOM???.

Cyclist I’m sure that works well in the state education system, but in football, where wrong decisions cost an individual owner money, not the seemingly bottomless pit of the taxpayer/ state, he tells his subordinate edu, who then passes it on to his coaches, it’s a chain of management, it’s not up for discussion, just like nuno wouldn’t want marinakis taking training sessions, or picking his team, the owner who has put hundreds of millions into the club, wants the business run his way, and I guess doesn’t want his coaches telling him how to set his hierarchy up, if nuno can’t fit in with that, he has a decision to make, If his feelings are hurt too bad, he gets paid great wages to soften the blow, professional sport is a cut throat business, if you can’t stand the heat etc etc.

23 Aug 2025 20:39:21
Where talking multi million pound football now cyclist, decisions are made by those holding the purse strings and they've unzipped those purse strings by signing top quality players and now the coach isn't happy?
We need a big squad, but nuno doesn't want one,
No club will put total faith in their coach when it comes to signing players
Regardless of everything nuno has gone public twice and that's not acceptable, his only way out is a public apology, if he thinks the fans will back him and turn on marinakis then he's sadly mistaken and not wanting the players we've sign won't work out, game over if he doesn't apologise.

Brandon rogers? ???
He wrecked fester thank god ??.

Giving someone a £5M contract, then losing them is NOT GOOD BUSINESS!

The boss (i. e. Marinakis) should make final decisions. But there is nothing wrong with team work. That applies at any level, in any organisation. And you've made up the bit about coaches telling Marinakis how to set up his chain of management. A good boss knows how to keep staff happy. If you don't think so, you're simply confused.

It's Marinakis money. If he just wants to play Football Manager with real money, that's up to him. If he values his coach, he'll try to keep him happy. I don't care particularly 'cos Nuno's football has been boring but it was getting results. Only Marinakis knows what matters more to him.

I'd orefer to win and play better football, but I'm greedy.

Cyclist you've never liked Nuno since he first came in and replaced Cooper.
Almost every post (apart from your transfer rumour posts lol) you take a sly sideways swipe. "No goals Nuno". "One trick pony". "Need to be a muppet not to win games with this squad". "If we're not in top 6 with such an easy start he'll be gone".
You nailed your flag to the mast long ago and I get the impression you 'd love nothing more than to see him go.
Never once have you ever given him any credit but that would be admitting you were WRONG!
As for Brendan Rogers you must be having a laugh ?.

23 Aug 2025 21:27:07
Zidane needs a club?.

23 Aug 2025 22:23:19
Cyclist I haven’t made up anything, I said the owner would no more expect advice from the coach about setting up a chain of command, in his business than the coach would like marinakis taking a training session, maybe you should take more time reading what I said, one thing I do know a chain of command, and teamwork are alway better when orders are taken without debate in critical situations, armed forces, emergency services etc, too much talk, stops action taking place,

23 Aug 2025 22:30:39
Bit old for our recruitment team and past it.

23 Aug 2025 23:08:41
Fred that's hard line assassination.

24 Aug 2025 01:51:39
Nuno's done loads better than I expected, Fred. I still thought he was boring until he surprised me last weekend.

I always said he was no better than Cooper and I don't like the boss to change a lot. It would probably be a mistake to change now, too. It's always risky as ferk. My opinion hasn't changed.

But if the footy is going to be boring again, then I won't cry about it if we change. Nobody is forced to like boring games. Hope it goes OK if the Greekfather goes for it.

But I think Marinakis should be able to keep his staff happy. The head-coach should feel included. That's the point I'm trying to make. No business should be run like an army (apart from an army).
