But he had ran his race at Forest. And overall did a great job.
Agree there are plenty of championship clubs that could do a lot worse than appointing him. Sure he would do a better job than Lampard at Coventry, for instance.

He's a great championship manager 67 but just hasn't got a clue in premiership fester fans were getting fed up with seeing every player playing in there own half all game just totally boring to watch he should of took Sunderland job.

I gave nothing but respect for Steve Cooper. He got us promoted and kept us up first season back in the Prem against overwhelming odds. He may well have kept us and Leicester up, who knows. He will, one day, become a great Premiership manager when he’s given half a chance with a good owners and the sort of half decent team we have now become.

I just feel really sad about this. I will always have an affection for SC and gratitude for what the guy did for our club. He's still young in management terms however and I'm sure he'll bounce-back if he can find the right team in the Championship to re-boot from.
I think the guy signed-up to mission-impossible at Fester. Trying to win-over sceptical fans; financial clouds hanging over the club; trying to make the best out of a mediocre squad of players (ring any bells?! ) ; and therefore probably forced into defensive tactics to limit damage on the field.
Bottom line is - would we want SC to come back to Forest? Personally, with a couple more years of successful experience, I would welcome the guy back with open arms. I do miss his passion for our club.

That's exactly what he his dtp it's called a upgrade and that's what happens in football and business and life mate there's no sitting on the fence pal I just don't fall in love with managers and players like you do he was bought in has a upgrade and to get us mid table with that better players will want to come to the club and eventually a better manager it's that simples really ?.

I can't wait for the Villa game - first time back at the City Ground for many years, as well as being a virgin to the disabled area! A couple of beers before and after meeting some of the crew on here and, hopefully, witnessing a Forest win!

Sorry DTP I wasn't criticism of cooper when I said megson, in my mind megson should never have been any where near forest. I will always be grateful to cooper he achieved the impossible, I don't think any other manager has taken a team from the bottom of the championship to the prem in one go. Palace came close but weren't bottom. No distrispect from me about cooper. football doesn't stand still cooper had his time and now we have Nuno so let's move on.

Cooper did an excellent job for us. I don't understand the negativity towards him. He took us up after being bottom and he kept us up after having 30 odd players thrown at him and told 'sort that lot out' and he did. He may have lost his way a tad in the second season but credit were it's due. Bin dippers gave him 12 games. He didn't get much of a chance but that's the current football climate at most clubs.
