Do you think all this MP questioning will lead to a smaller penalty for Forest. FFP is changing and not fit for purpose. I hope so, I pray so, as I don't want to lose our PL status. but I am worried. Any views?

Sharkey, I have a view, no matter how many points deducted, we are attempting to compete in a league that is so corrupt, it even makes it obvious to the world that they’re doing it. Teams come up with a spending handicap so they cannot compete with the mid table teams and the mid table teams without European football cannot compete with the top six. Chelsea with long contracts, and Man City with a hundred and fifteen counts of financial irregularities hanging over them have both found loopholes, which in my book is still cheating as they are seeking ways to bend the rules. These so called big sides will prosper whilst we will be dealt with swiftly. As for points deductions, why isn’t it set in stone? Our club should know how many points we are going to lose, not let the premier league make up an amount to suit them!

Ironically it’s Chelsea and Man City that were mediocre sized clubs who had won only a handful of trophies between them until being bought by sheiks and oligarchs and being allowed to spend unlimited amounts of money, now they don’t want anybody else to spend the money they have ?‍♂️?‍♂️ it stinks and it’s unfair, so why would anybody want to struggle year on year to just about survive in a league that is hellbent on keeping them down?

Sharkey.
Forest will be made an example of.
The Profit and Sustainability method has proved worthless.
I understand the need for a club to be financially viable but to set a limit over 3 three year's is awful.
The allegedly so call big 6 will get away with their breaches.
Chelsea and Man City we all know have bent the rules and will go unpunished despite the 100+ infractions Man City have made.
The lower league club's will always be behind in ambition and finances making it an unfair advantage to more affluent Club's.
The Premier League/ FA are like the Tories.
They look after the rich club's and punish those club's are trying to compete.
Corrupt as they come unfortunately.

Read about Mangala this morning, possibly Lyon. I think we would miss him even though he seems a bit clumsy with the ball at times.

Sharkey, Ace and Trump, excellent posts. ???.
I make a few general comments……
Firstly, the last thing the Prem League want is Parliamentary oversight and regulation of any kind. MPs of all parties would want much more equitable distribution of the Prems enormous wealth to the lower leagues which is complete anathema to the Prem.
The Prems policy to fend this off is to offer more money to the lower league clubs but only a relative pittance and, sadly for us, to make an example of certain clubs to show they can impose discipline without Parliamentary legislation.
This practice comes from the Romans where “decimation” of a mutinous legion would involve picking out a tenth ( hence decimal) by lottery at random then executing them in front of their (luckier) mates. In the words of the song “We are the one in ten”!
Having said this, I entirely blame Mr M for our predicament. We should have erred on the side of caution like the other 16 clubs ( the other 3 being Everton, Man City and Chelsea ( though the latters new owners reported themselves to the Prem when they’d check Ambramovitchs books. ). He is either entirely innocent ( unlikely) or employs accountants who can't add up (also unlikely) or is a chancer who hasn't listened to the advice of his in house FFP and sports law legal specialist David Randle KC ( highly likely and definitely embarrassing to a pre eminent barrister).
Lastly, the Prems policy of fending off legislation is doomed to failure as even Tory MPs would be foolish to vote against an increase in funding to the local clubs of their constituents who voted them in. Plus, of course, General Election this year and Labour ( who are committed to redistribution both explicitly and ideologically) are a shoo ing for Government.
Too late for us though. We will be very lucky not to get points deducted “pour encourager les autres” ie to encourage the others ( from Voltaires “Candide” who’s eponymous character states “There is a country where it is considered good policy to execute an Admiral from time to time to encourage the others”. This was a reference to the recent naval court martial and execution of Admiral John Byng for losing a battle at sea to the French through, ironically, being too cautious, even though he didn’t lose a ship in the action and the casualties were equal on both sides. So, entirely innocent ( perhaps like us) but certainly over the top by the authorities.
I hope I’m wrong and they go easy on us but I doubt it.

I believe the PL are in fear of big clubs bringing up Euro. super league rumours again which would quickly pick up pace.
On Mr M, he let his ambition, s overtake common sense and he is not a man to listen to anyone.
He generally rules by fear and is very demanding.
Cross him at your peril.
CARLO.

Having read this twice now Stokey, and it is beautifully written, I am convinced we need you with the Forest KC at the hearing. With the club's barrister and yourself quoting historical comparisons, they have to let us off with a slapped wrist. (Like the way you slipped in Romans and Abramovitch in the same post. )

Many thanks Norfolk, though it saddens me to post about our situation mate.
I guess if I did get to be invited to the hearing it definitely wouldn’t be KC and the Sunshine Band! ?☹️.
