Shilton, Grummitt, Crossley , Woods, were all playing top football at a very young age.
Over the last 10 years or so we have reportedly had some top class young keepers but none have hardly made the team.
Given the chance could George Shelvey have proved he is has good as our two present incumbents, the answer to this we, ll never know.
I was there when Peter Grummitt made his debut, his first task, picking the ball out of the back of the net, could have ruined the then 18 year old but he just got better and better until an unfortunate injury.
Nowadays we just go out and splash millions, often not wisely. CARLO.

Shilton, Woods, HVB, Sutton, Segers, Big Norm, Beasant, Navas, Samba, Pants, De Vries, Camp, Darlow, Gerrard, Ward, Middleton - I’ve seen some great keepers in our goals but the best just has to be Shilton. He was unbelievable in his day.
