Reading how Awonyi prayed for his goal scoring exploits, made me wonder how footballers who are gifted like Messi and Ronaldo look heavenly and cross themselves. Also superstition plays apart, putting boots on then taking them off, socks on left foot first, I think Paul Ince used to put his shirt on as his boot touched the turf. It's not just football, when Tony Jacklin entered a big golf tournament, he used to ask his wife to kiss his balls, just for luck!.
