Dtp Stevie and cyclist please read the post. I asked not to compare my observations with anything other than the match. Surridge had one chance late on knackered from all his chasing down and zero service he was trying to get a ball going away from goal. You can excuse him. In his first start he scored a sublime goal against utd that var ruled out. It's a pity Johnson had the blinkers on again lastnight but he seems exempt from critiscm. Cooper seems hell bent on formation defending where when surridge or denis were trying to close down no one else were backing them up they had already retreated into their own half two banks of four. United in both games made things very difficult for us defending from the front putting in the graft and when they got a turn over they had runners everywhere and also an outlet out wide. And as i said on a positive note McKenna and boly were remarkable in those circumstances and for all his critics denis tried so hard. Scarpa will be better with Danilo or shelvey around him. Maybe freuler will be more noticeable without the labouring lumbering mangala.

Agree2 Disagree0

Rutland mate you can’t talk about the match in isolation, because how we approach it is a by product of where we’ve come from, and where we are as a club and team. To go more attacking and confident at places like old Trafford we need to be further along in our development as a team, and the last 2games are part of the learning curve,

Did I notice last night that Scarpa had a few moments where he was showing some attributes of the dark arts? Could be useful for us when teams get in our faces!

Yes Norfolk he got stuck in and niggled. Thought united were surly and petulant. Throwing themselves to the ground at the slightest of contact. Poor really as for rashford disgraceful

Norfolk, all the South American team are proficient in the dark arts including the likes of Brazil. Even the likes of the legend Pele could look after himself if needed mate. We see Brazilians as artistic geniuses ( and conversely Argentina and Uruguay as thugs but believe me they can all mix it if circumstances demand.

Yep Norfolk some of them balls he whipped in and passed he's going to be a great attribute.

What development was needed last night Stevie. Where we was as a club was 3-0 down with little no chance of turning it round. So we might as well go all out attack instead of the usual 2 banks of four and minimum chances created. We lost 2-0 anyway so that plan failed. 2-0 or 4-0 what's the difference, there both defeats. As long as the players say to them self's we lost but gave it a right good go, no confidence should be lost
If not for themselves put a show on for those amazing away fans of ours ?.

Sorry to sound rude, but the boss got it right on how the team were set up. We would have been 2-0 up at half-time if Surridge hadn't blocked Dennis goal and we hadn't cocked up the other good chance. Surridge also missed late on.

If we had gone in 2-0 up at half-time, you'd all be saying Cooper is a genius. Going all out attack would have lost us the game long before the 75th minute. It's obvious to me Cooper is a clever coach. If he'd had more composed (or better) finishers we would probably have won that game.

But I stand by what I said, Freuler barely put a foot wrong but STILL gets criticism after the game. It makes no sense. Why do we always have to have a scapegoat player?

Balloons had we gone toe to toe it wouldn’t have been 3or 4 it would have been 6or 7 then blokes like you would have been on saying the manager was out of his depth, he’s trying to build a way of playing, an identity which all the players buy into and understand,

02 Feb 2023 13:49:46
Freuler did have a good game I thought last night I agree and Scarpa played some great touches and his crossing looks ace to be honest.

I thought we played well on the whole and probably should have been a deserved 0-1 up at least at half time, good showing fellas.

Funny how some criticise some players but don't see it with their own favs like Surridge. Not knocking him as he does try for us.

Don't know till you try it Stevie, it's all speculation mate ?.

Stevie is right - if we’d gone toe to toe it would have been goals galore for United and a real blow to our confidence. As it is I think we can all say we had a few chances in both games, battled quite well and didn’t get totally embarrassed. I can take plenty of positives from the two games and hopefully if we continue as we are I can see us picking up plenty of points to stay up- starting this week against dirty Leeds.
