I hear j shelvey has arrived at forest training ground indicating the deal is done and medical passed. My one worry about this deal was he sustained a calf injury in late December and had just recovered from a hamstring. Surely he would be fit and ready to be selected to pass the medical, remembering the fiasco surrounding richards. You couldn't pass a medical with a troublesome calf? We need this player ready now to replace mgw. Just got to hope he's fit and raring to go. Otherwise its a futile signing right now. Sorry as i was euphoric yesterday but did a bit more digging lastnight regarding his current fitness levels.

1.) 31 Jan 2023 14:40:18
He wouldn't be playing the MGW role he'd be sitting deeper, lingard or scarpa will drop into that position
He's cover for Yates and kouyate and the departure of obrien.
If he's still a week or two off full fitness we can play Danillo
Still options in the middle, depends how long Yates and MGW are out for.

2.) 31 Jan 2023 16:51:57
Hard to believe he will be ready inside a month after recovering from latest injury.

29 Jan 2023 22:28:14
Wow Jonjo shelvey if this happens we have one hell of a player. Something lacking in our make up so far. A premier hardened experienced midfield playmaker. Tough skilful great vision can shoot tackle and head. Bring it on.

I was hoping this was a just a rumour but is posted everywhere.

Bloke is injured a lot, Toon fans call him biscuit legs, don't thinks it's because he has 'Nice' written down them.

Can pass well and moves the ball quick, just a big dark cloud over fitness.

If he does come, welcome and wish you all the best.

2.) 30 Jan 2023 21:50:41
I understand Red is his favourite colour.

3.) 30 Jan 2023 22:15:51
So how many times has shelvey been sent off?
It's five
So you wouldn't have bought roy keane back then?
He was sent off a record thirteen times
Makes me laugh.

According to reports coopers contract offer has been withdrawn. That's a vote of confidence then??

Just reading the arguments on here tonight and it's fair to say most of it is old hat. We accept that cooper has done a brilliant rear guard job and our future looks rosey. But all this I told you so nonesense is quite poor. Yes marinakis has invested, wisely? Not so sure. It Has it been a cluster f@ck of ins and outs and throwing shoite at a wall, most definitely. Cooper has had his spats and persistence in picking players like freuler, until the pressure got to him. It took nail cooper bombed out freuler that our fortune changed. Luck has been with us, and thankfully.

The result at Chelsea was excellent but it took an injury to the ineffective Danillo to change our formation which resulted in a great goal. Cooper is doing very good job and he is gelling everything very well so let's give the man some credit. Marinakis is not the patient saint portrayed and now that he has supplied the tools for cooper to go for it we"ll see how accommodating the big man is if things don't develop quickly. It's been a good start under the severest of opposition so early in the season so happy days.

I want cooper to do well and give this underdog tag some legs just like the cloughie days. Let's be optimistic but also realistic in that its been a merry go round of people and methods over the last six years. Marinakis has stated clearly that he is a winner in life and I feel he will take no prisoners.

Rutland I can’t see any “ I told you so nonsense’ all I see is the manager not being given full credit for an unbelievable job he’s done,

2.) 07 Sep 2023 23:04:51
Think that's a very fair assessment Rutland
Difficult window with the suadies throwing money around?
For once we were patient and got the players we wanted?
Thanks for talking football and forest.

3.) 07 Sep 2023 23:47:44
Rutland, good post. I Don't agree with all of it but it's a well thought out discussion.
I don't believe it was a cluster F@ck because we didn't even have half a team when the loans left after we were promoted never mind a squad.
I agree Cooper has done an absolutely fantastic job along with an amazing owner.

4.) 08 Sep 2023 03:45:50
At the moment I think us Forest supporters have realistic ambitions for the club, and SC wants to be the best manager/ coach he can be and I hope it's with us. But Mr Marinakis has invested big and SC staying could be taken out of our hands.
Take Newcastle, we would love what they have done. But Eddie Howe getting them to the Champions league won't be enough for there owners, they will expect to win it. And like Chelsea they will have a merry-go-round of managers until they get success.

5.) 08 Sep 2023 07:20:18
Good post Rutland.

6.) 08 Sep 2023 08:32:14
Good post Rutland I agree with a lot of it while on my break I was chatting with a Man utd and Everton fan only one us liked their manager the Everton fan the Utd fan said we were robbed at old Trafford but also said Cooper looked confused and shocked when we went 2 up and didn't seem able to change his plan both think we will stay up let's hope so.

7.) 08 Sep 2023 08:51:08
When this run of fixtures against tough opposition is over the pressure then is on to get the results we demand. We have put in a lot of effort, and it's looks promising for the run of fixtures up next.

8.) 08 Sep 2023 09:10:54
That's also a good point the pressure is on Cooper now because he's never had a team of quality players and he has now the owner has stayed with him and will want a better position in the table and more attractive football for his money, are you prepared for his decision if that doesn't happen.

9.) 08 Sep 2023 09:44:56
Definitely jester this his where coopers hard work will start and now he has the tools let's see how good he his.

10.) 08 Sep 2023 10:05:15
I think they signed aload of players precisely because it is well known many take either a year to settle or just don't work out. Add to that an injury crisis and you need a lot of payers. True at EVERY club. We had so few players of Prem level if we had only signed, say, 12 and only half settled quickly or worked out we would have had nowhere near enough quality to stay up.

So no, we weren't throwing rubbish at the wall, we did what we had to to stay up. Same goes for the playing style. We started off trying to play more open footy and were in the bottom three. Cooper did what he had to.

Told you so! Hahahaha.

11.) 08 Sep 2023 10:40:13
??? Cyclist getting it in why he can because he knows now maranakis has given Cooper the tools there's no more excuses coopers biggest test coming up I for one will applaud and praise him if we finish mid table and don't play the park the bus low block game ?.

12.) 08 Sep 2023 11:11:35
That's OK you saying that now skeggs, but Cooper wouldn't be here now if it were down to you as you wanted him gone last season as he's a championship manager, your words over and over all last season.

13.) 08 Sep 2023 12:22:04
Red jester, why would you want to ‘change a plan’ that’s got you a 2 goal lead?

14.) 08 Sep 2023 12:31:14
And up to now he his still a great championship manager not shown me a different and if it was up to you wed still have carvahallo greatest player since Messi ??.

15.) 08 Sep 2023 12:55:27
Because I don't believe he expected it to happen that way 2-0 up I would have gone for another goal you have 5 subs now throw Niakate on and you get a better defender and a long throw the Utd defence were in turmoil that's my view could have worked his tactics later didn't work with a little help from the ref.

16.) 08 Sep 2023 13:19:33
100 percent agree jester.

17.) 08 Sep 2023 14:04:13
Niakhate not taking long throws because of his arm injury, aina takes them and gets good distance.

18.) 08 Sep 2023 14:21:23
Still a better player on the ball and they were scared of Elanga he doesn't make any changes till 60 min unless forced, last season Frueler was on the pitch too long everyone new it and he didn't till late in the season Kuyate isn't needed now unless we have injuries.

19.) 08 Sep 2023 14:34:09
That's why you keep players like kouyate, injuries and suspension and his experience which can rub off well on young players.

20.) 08 Sep 2023 15:36:59
What are you on about, Jester? Niakhate has been injured and wasn't fully fit. Look what happened last season with injuries. If you're going to criticise for the sake of it, then you go for it.

Most of the football world think Cooper performed a miracle, and you moan about his tactics. People will do anything to avoid admitting that they were just plain wrong.

03 Sep 2023 10:25:35
Big shout out for McKenna, worrall and bolly. No pace big lumps, but who would have thought that against a pacey awkward attack they would stand firm. Absolutely brilliant considering the slaughtering McKenna and worrall get. Elanga looks to have all the tricks and pace as the goal proved, well done awoniyi for slipping him in. I will say that coopers hand was forced in bringing Elanga on so hopefully he will learn a bit from having that threat early on away from home. I mentioned on Thursday that it will be a slow drip feed of the new signings and that result yesterday just gave cooper a bit of a headache lol.

Well what a window. I wonder whether the rangers man was responsible or the re-recruit simply got busy very quickly. I'm glad the fee for Callum Hudson was only £5mil as he has a lot to prove. My thoughts are that Steve cooper will have the full backing to integrate this lot into a formidable force. It's going to take time to drip these players in and stave off a decent once again. Without Johnson the style will have to change but when you look now at the strength in depth this is a proper prem squad capable of establishing itself way above mid table. I would imagine that Steve cooper is relishing this challenge. Exciting times ahead.

Rutland red8

1.) 02 Sep 2023 09:09:59
Baby steps Rutland. Mid table is a minimum target this season. The likes of Villa, Brentford and Brighton must be our short term ambition standard wise. Maranakis is no fool, his money is down and he expects results. Pressure is on Coops now, let's hope he delivers. ?.

27 Aug 2023 21:21:09
Baloons give your head a wobble and get back on here. I'm gutted that you are not going to be posting. You are the VOR so suck it up sir and keep us entertained.

Rutland red8

1.) 27 Aug 2023 21:58:53
As a senior poster, I have to respect Red Balloons decision. Do I agree? No. But bless Billie Davies, it is what it is. Take a sabbatical, take a rain check. I hope I speak for all, always welcome back sir. ?.

2.) 28 Aug 2023 08:54:10
I still can't find what people said about him?

3.) 28 Aug 2023 13:43:04
They didn't, Rogie.

4.) 28 Aug 2023 13:46:32
Not sure why balloons has got the hump, he’s a wind up merchant so should expect it back, haven’t anything personal towards him, most of it is just giving back what you dish out mate, , not sure why he feels the need to stop giving his opinion, but it’s his choice, I generally disagree with 99% of what he says, but they’re his opinions, and it’s his right to express them, CARLO talks about bullying, how can any man feel bullied on a forum? Am totally mystified by that one,

5.) 28 Aug 2023 16:26:05
That's the whole reason he left he wasn't allowed to have a opinion in the end and carlos bang on with what he said and I definitely disagree a 100 percent with anything you after say stevie.

6.) 28 Aug 2023 20:39:17
Skegs, Well to say balloons wasn’t allowed an opinion he posted more of them than almost anyone else, and I’m happy that you disagree with 100% of what I have to say, it makes me even more convinced I’m right, and Carlo isn’t ‘ bang on ‘ in what he says, no one bullies anyone on here, but if he wants to post about how people need educating, , he shouldn’t expect them not to reply.

7.) 28 Aug 2023 21:08:32
Your 2 posts are very accurate Stevie f.

8.) 28 Aug 2023 21:32:27
Near enough every time carlo posts same 3 or 4 people straight on him seen it 3 times last week and has for balloons don't worry about him none of the comments you or any of the others was the reason he left ?? He doesn't throw his dummy out like some of you on here and stevie you've never been right about anything ??.

9.) 28 Aug 2023 22:07:37
Skegs the only person I ever saw have a real go at balloons was one of the Ed’s, who got a bit bored with his hypocrisy on back biting, nobody else, if your going to come on a forest site and continually slate the team, and the most successful manager of recent years many people are going to disagree with you. His negativity bordered on attention seeking,

10.) 28 Aug 2023 22:39:56
Skegsjay by the way, please don’t think a couple of laughing emojis cover your personal jibes at me, ,

27 Aug 2023 08:01:27
Absolute disgrace. The equaliser came from a man who was initially in an offside position therefore was interfering. The sending off dreadful as Worral had tripped and it was not intentional and wasn't the last man. As for the penalty, where was the contact? Rashford clipped himself, looking for it and dived. Why no Var, anyway VAR is nonesense just more human opinion. Makes me puke what happened at old Trafford yesterday, just shocking. Why doesn't cooper just say what is right and not hide behind " I don't want to get into trouble" stuff these refs and VAR call it as it is.

Rutland red8

1.) 27 Aug 2023 08:51:20
One Million % Right mate. watched it again. Rashfords very clever isn't he?
And yes Aurier was the last man. Forest have every f@#cking right to complain. all tailored for the "Big Teams".
And don't ask me about Casemiro's offside goal?
And why should Cooper not call out a referee who's clearly not doing his job?
Absolutely Farcical.

2.) 27 Aug 2023 09:23:59
Rutland, Rosie. Completely agree the referee was a disgrace, I could go as far a cheat but I don't think that's the case. I believe thet all get it in the ear from the big bosses and love to hear them say they've had a good game.
No way could Mr Cooper say anything on tv, he would get himself banned. That's how they deal with little managers from little teams.
If Klopp or Pep or Poch had been in the same position, it might be different and the authorities would do something about it, but not insignificant Forest.

Wood is a proven premier league striker. He’s robust good in the air gets stuck in and is renowned for his hold up play. He can do the dirty stuff has good positional awareness. One one of his stats from last season, of the 15 matches he started Newcastle amassed 29 points. Loan to buy is a no brainier and at 31 has plenty of life, remember we sold chapman to Leeds when we thought he was done at 30ish. His record at Leeds was incredible and I would say similar types of players.

Yes cyclist it was tongue in cheek but being wrong all the time isn’t me and I don’t make predictions just discuss what I feel. It’s my opinion and to some it’s wrong that’s ok.

I still feel surridge would bring a new dimension to our game and the goals that awoniyi ( awonya) has scored we’re the sort that surridge would also bury but would have buried a lot more.

Yes many of the players brought in supposedly didn’t have a pre season, then those that did got injuries. I think the arsenal game not the score so much but the energy and fluidity will dictate whether we have turned a corner…

Jeez this is a banter site. It needs controversies, happy clappers and knowledgeable input. IT would be crap without the likes of balloons. It takes all sorts so read and reply. I do a lot of reading but choose when and how to reply these days, but i prefer it when there’s football to talk about. On the Johnson scenario it’s clear he went for the money, who wouldn’t? I also believe the club would have pushed for this move to facilitate other purchases. There is no such thing as loyalty these days. Loyalty only exits if the monies equal.

{Ed001's Note - and this kind of post just causes trouble and is utter crap. No one was given carte blanche to ridicule anyone. And if the discussion side is a graveyard, that is up to you lot to make the effort to read and reply on there to get it going.}
