08 Apr 2025 21:46:39
And for any who didn't know, Arsenals win garentees the Premier league 5 champions league places ??.

08 Apr 2025 21:50:53
We know but it's over two legs
Very impressive performance from arsenal, but never count real out on their own patch
It's arsenal's to lose though.

08 Apr 2025 22:43:17
Arsenal will win the champions league real are not what they use to be simples good post winter.

08 Apr 2025 22:51:22
Living in a free society I find it difficult for people wanting things banned winter tree, so stokeys post was from a veggies point of view, mines from a meat eating point of view
Before you know it heading the ball will be banned if you let people convince you that it's right.

08 Apr 2025 22:53:19
Nailed on then skeggs?

08 Apr 2025 23:56:56
DTP, spear fisherman, ex trawler man, meat eating savage myself, now working on conservation, doesn't stop me from being a red meat beast ??.

09 Apr 2025 07:28:55
Perhaps if we stop eating Brussels they will disappear from existence that's a plus for me ??.

09 Apr 2025 10:17:04
DTP, mate, surely some things need to be banned even in a free society? Child labour, modern day slavery, paedophila, online hate, abuse etc. Or shall we just carry on “Rockin in the free world “?
As for your new found interest in my diet ( ?joking of course) I regard fish in the same way as meat. I’m not an evangelical, miserable and preachy veggie. As I said if there’s no alternative my wife and I will eat ( and enjoy) meat but we’ve decided to exclude 99%. We would never, for example, be so rude as to refuse a meat or fish meal unknowingly provided, like the fish supper at a do recently. We are not pompous or crass guests………just our personal choice I guess.
By the way, as a footnote, ( and this is a very unscientific straw poll) has anyone on here witnessed Stevies dystopian vision of horses starving and in poor condition in fields? I’ve lived in the countryside for 14 years now and I’ve never seen anything like that. If I had I would have contacted the RSPCA and the Police plus started evidence gathering to ( ie photos etc) to protect the afflicted animals and prosecute their owners. Just asking ??.

{Ed001's Note - I have many times, I used to volunteer at an animal shelter for a while. I had to give it up because I wanted to take all the animals home! There are often horses that get too old or infirm to ride that are just turned out into fields and abandoned mate. The prosecutions were non-existent and usually the owners were just given a telling off.}

09 Apr 2025 11:04:39
And donkey's and goats edd
And stokey all those you've mentioned and banned and rightly so, but we are talking about banning a sport, not anything else
Fishing? Probably another sport you'd like banned?

09 Apr 2025 11:26:00
The thing that links us all to this site, is a love for Nottingham Forest. God forbid if we were all dumped on a Desert Island, after two days it would be like a adult version of Lord of the Flies!.
Not critising debate, it makes the posters more fuller characters.

09 Apr 2025 11:28:13
Stokey stop looking for reinforcements and trying to use your “ popularity’, you also really need to stop putting words in my mouth, I didn’t say starving, although I’ve no doubt some are, horses left in a field in exercised in all weathers and neglected is a real problem, just because it doesn’t happen in your no doubt idyllic village, doesn’t mean it’s not happening, but you just jump on the bandwagon once a year to attack racing. You did the same thing last year, child labour paedophilia, modern day, slavery? That’s the job of the police, perhaps if they weren’t sending 6 officers to arrest a journalist and his wife in front of their daughter who has learning difficulties. For sendings emails of complaint about her schooling, or 2 highly paid detectives to terrify an old lady for suggesting online a councillor might consider his position, they might have more manpower to solve these more serious issus, they should have some spare capacity now they’ve virtually legalised shop lifting, and vandalism,

09 Apr 2025 11:30:13
Horses are used in many types of work ie in the forces, farm work etc usually checked by vets and RSPCA at regular intervals and I live in rural Fester land every thing's looking good. Could do with losing a few Wood pidgeons though.

09 Apr 2025 11:59:47
I agree it's cruel to leave horses like that. when the owners don't want the horse no more. it should be made into a nice filet de cheval ??.

09 Apr 2025 16:10:52
Ed 1 I guess different force areas have different enforcement levels regarding animal neglect and cruelty. I spent the vast majority of my Police career in the City but I did have the luck to work on several instances of cruelty with a wonderful RSPCA Inspector with the unlikely name of Finbar Hennessy. We never lost a case at Court. He was a highly successful criminal law solicitor in his own right before specialising in Animal welfare. I believe he’s passed away now. Great bloke.

09 Apr 2025 17:25:12
Stevie, mate, don’t believe everything you read in the Press. I do agree, however, that since I retired in 2009 the Police have taken steps backwards. This may be coincidental but I doubt it ?. Certainly as regards shoplifting and not dealing with volume crime has created a vacuum which has been filled with criminality.
There are several causes including political interference, the advent of powerful Mayors and Police Commissioners, involvement in political causes ( taking the knee was abysmal) and careerist Senior Officers allied with Tory cuts to numbers. Teresa May as both Home Secretary and Prime Minister was a disaster.
I don’t live in a village, by the way, but where I do live is idyllic so you are half right in your assumption. As they say, in the old adage, to Assume makes an ASS of U and ME! ??
I care not a jot for popularity either on here or life generally……
I’m sorry if I’ve inadvertently ruffled your feathers my friend but these are my opinions. But don’t worry, when I last checked the racing industry is thriving in general and Bet 365 around here is on top of the betting world. The animals dying horribly count for nothing in the profit and loss departments and the massive vested interests will ensure this will, regrettably, not change any time soon.

09 Apr 2025 18:24:32
Stokey hypocrisy always ruffles my feathers, the two cases are documented and well publicised, Or we could talk about the riot in Leeds when the police ran away from the ‘ local community “ ( see YouTube) and later when they returned arrested a middle aged lady who had the affrontery, to offer them refreshments because it was a warm day, she was probably the only arrest of the day, despite the fact buses and cars were set on fire as they watched on, , if in my old job I’d have legged it like that away from trouble I would probably have been court martialed for cowardice, I am now asking you for I think the 4th time your views on the production of Halal meat, as your so against animals dying horribly, your silence on the matter is deafening, maybe I’ll have to start referring to you as 2 tier stokey, I also await your apology for referring to my assertion that horses were neglected and left in poor condition in fields, which you described I believe as ‘ dystopian’, but Ed has independently affirmed is a problem,

09 Apr 2025 19:37:21
Stokey please don't get Stevie mad you won't like him when he gets angry ??.

09 Apr 2025 19:43:51
Apologies Stevie, I missed the previous occasions you hav asked me about Halal ( and presumably Kosher) animal slaughter. It’s been a busy day of gardening in the sunshine then some G and T s to try and to top it all, it’s bin day. The time pressure I’m under means a few things pass me by.
So, to set your mind at rest mate, I’ll say unequivocally I condemn as utterly barbaric the above methods without prior stunning to render the animals unconscious and therefore to cause them unnecessary stress and suffering.
I’d ban it tomorrow if I could, like horse racing. But as Halal methods are enshrined in law and it’s unlikely that any of our fine upstanding politicians will alienate the Muslim and Jewish vote by an Act of Parliament forbidding it.

09 Apr 2025 19:54:29
As a footnote, I was reminded by Arizona earlier that in 2023, 158 Horses lost their lives whilst racing. There followed a massive review of safety practices by the authorities, under pressure from the media and animal welfare groups.
Despite these reviews and safety initiatives, in 2024 the total had gone up to 214, an increase of 21.6 %.
On a lighter note ( though it’s not a laughing matter) I’m reminded of the late, great Dave Allen’s quip that he’s read that 10% of all road fatalities were caused by drunk drivers. Which, he continued, logically, that meant 90% of fatalities were caused by entirely sober drivers. Therefore, he concluded, the 90% should stay off the roads and “let us drunks drive in safety”…. ???.

09 Apr 2025 20:17:15
Stokey your answer is appreciated on at least on matter we agree,

09 Apr 2025 20:28:06
So where did you get your fact of one in thirty five horses dies over a season from then stokey.

09 Apr 2025 20:42:55
It's not barbaric it's food simple. do you think a lion or a shark would be nice to us before it eat us ?? no matter how them animals are eat they still end up on our plate everyday ??.

09 Apr 2025 21:01:06
DTP, mate, so many questions, so little time …….
Perhaps tomorrow I’m having definitely my last G and T. of the evening ??.

09 Apr 2025 21:16:15
I used to hate horses with a passion. However, I got into horse riding after my amputations and then realised what sensitive and thoughtful creatures they are. OK, I'm really ungraceful trying to get on and off a horse - but I've noticed each horse that I've ever ridden stands still when I mount/ dismount, unlike the very same horses with able-bodied riders. They are very intelligent creatures who show great empathy and love human interaction.

The thought of these beautiful and caring creatures cast away to see out their days in some field on their own riles me.

09 Apr 2025 21:25:31
Skegs in general sharks are nice to us before they eat us, swim up unseen, remove a limb and let's us bleed out before consuming us. ???.

10 Apr 2025 08:21:40
Just proves there is no God he wouldn't allow it to happen if he existed ??? and if of course he would make sure we had no more injuries at our great club SORRY.
