Listening to the DOE's funeral today the playing of I Vow to thee my country stirred up patriotism in me that I thought I'd lost, what a brilliant hymn that makes you proud to be an Englishman, nobody does pomp and ceremony like us. Should be the national anthem IMO.

Great post mate, whatever your opinion. Of the royal family many people alive in this country at the moment have been brought up by who’s values have been shaped that institution. I feel there is something lost now those who kept the persons at bay have pretty much gone . On reflection there was something special about having those people actively involved in your upbringing either as parents or grand parents . When i think of it holistically, it’s brought home to me how much the world has changed in the last 50 years .

2 star your wasting your breath talking about patriotism nowadays mate, it’s been demonised, it’s alright for the Scots, Welsh and Irish of course, but if the English are patriotic they’re called right wing racists.

Great hymn munmad, my personal favourite is Jerusalem. But am i the only one on here who just moves there mouth when it comes to singing hymns 😂.
