I didn't go to the game yesterday and have only seen extended highlights so I can only comment in general terms.
Firstly, let's keep it all in perspective shall we guys. Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world ( though they under achieve in Europe) with a squad many times the cost of ours. Like Newcastle they are massively resourced, despite FFP restrictions and will be in the Champions League places at least this season.
Secondly, calls for Nunos demise are very very premature. These calls will get louder if we don't beat Ipswich at home next weekend but I think we will and thus get back on track.
Thirdly, this squad will ( if we don't lose key players in January or to prolonged injury) get us to mid table, perhaps upper half if we are lucky. That is Nunos remit this season, progress, establish stability and build on that next season.
Lastly, I can't fathom MGWs absence. I don't think it would have made much difference as Arsenal were unstoppable yesterday. Perhaps he insisted on playing through injury 10 minutes and training time for England and Nuno wanted to keep him happy. Not, for example, like Arteta, ( and others) who decide for the players it would seem. Who knows but we need him and Anderson available for Ipswich.
Incidentally, Ipswich won't be easy. There are so many unpredictable results, for example the Tractor Boys beat Spurs who dismantled Manchester City yesterday, Arsenal haven't been great until we turned up, Liverpool lost to us etc etc. It's a much more interesting season but I think the usual suspects will be in the top spots unless Man City's off field problems overwhelm them.
I'll be watching Ipswich on Sky this afternoon.

Spot on stokey, Ipswich will give us a run for our money next week, I’d like to see Jota and sosa start. I know they are impact players who nuno likes to bring on later in the game but I’d sooner be a couple of goals to the good than chasing the game late on. Just my opinion and no wish to upset the football connoisseurs amongst us.

Nice post Stokie but nobody is calling for Nuno's demise except for DTP. I'm certain the majority of posters and fans are happy with the way things are going this season mate.
Mid table the target. ??.

Just pointing out nunos limitations as a coach when it comes to tactics
Like I've posted you can't expect anything if you allow saka time and space, Hudson and elanga don't help aina and moreno and against a player as good as saka it won't end well
Jesus is more a false nine which leaves Yates and Dominguez out numbered in midfield and the centre backs being drawn out
It was nieve of nuno to go there and play that way, we did better last season at arsenal with inferior players.

What's all this false number 9 cobblers. It's 11 players playing another 11 players. Do you think a man of his pedigree and experience doesn't understand the basics of football coaching. I bet Edu and Marinakas are preparing a dossier for your managerial services as we speak. ??.

24 Nov 2024 21:02:39

24 Nov 2024 21:33:50
You never won anything.

Lol Skegs. There have been some classics hasn't there? The Luton points prediction. Nuno will be gone after the Brighton and Liverpool games ?. And this is the guy that thinks he knows how to set a team up better than the man that won manager of the month and is sitting 7th in the prem.
The mind boggles. Absolutely astounding!

Have you ever thought that you've been wrong in your life Fred?
No I doubt you ever have and expect us to lise next bunch of games and feel that's acceptable because of where we are now in the league?
That's when the mind boggles Fred, just lying down and taking it on the chin and saying " they are top six so just give them the points "
Have a go at least is what's required not that sort of outlook
Lising can become a very bad habit to stop, football is a confidence thing to players.

DTP didn't Nuno beat Liverpool at Anfield for the first time in 60 years? I think his tactics are fine. We have only just survived relegation for two seasons and what he has done since coming in has been day and night. Our injuries are crazy at the moment and we missed that link play in midfield yesterday. Full strength, we are a very strong outfit but we honestly can't expect to get consistent results against the top clubs.
