There's a lovely story told by the son of a Mr Eric Dyer, now deceased, one of the founders and original boss of East Midlands Airport opened exactly 60 years ago last Monday.
Cloughie apparently approached him and asked him how he could cure his fear of flying. Mr Dyer, a qualified pilot, suggested he take him for a spin in a light aircraft. At about 5000 feet, after a brief training introduction, he said to Old Big Head " right Brian I'm handing over control of this aeroplane to you".
For the next 30 minutes, Mr Dyer said, it was the quietest I'd ever known him.
But it cured his phobia. ???.

StokeyI can tell you of strange occurrences at East Midlands, as when it was a farm. I worked on electrical maintenance on it in the early sixties and I myself witnessed possibly things that happened that resembled war occurrences. Enough said don't want botheri ng about its history.

One day Sokey, my gran in the 1939/ 40, s was regarded as the best reader of the future in the midlands. Crystal ball now lies in the bottom of Nottingham canal. Myself I have had experience s. The most chilling was in the 1969, s I think it was a liquid gas tanker lost its brakes downhill and crashed into a campsite on the coast in Spain. I personally had a nightmare two days prior to it, many died and could not be found. There are the odd recall of it, but try to lose the image, and other images appesr of other things which I wake in a cold sweat. Nuts and crazy you say, I take your point but You should try living with it. Just one last thing to think I am completely nuts, have a guess when its my birthday.

Fascinating Socks. There is still so much that we don't understand about the human-mind - I find it intriguing. BTW, my wife is related to the Crowthers - one of the most prominent occult worshipers/ advocates in the UK. After 33 years of marriage, I'm still wary of the weird bitch!
As such, I'd hope that your birth date is not 6/ 6/ 66.

No not that one, Halloween. Funny thing moved from Stamford to just outside Nottingham, didn't know but found many relations buried in village. On checking my family tree, it goes all the way back to John Rogers who rewrote the catholic bible for Henry V111 and duly executed by Mary, and Thomas Tomkin who also was. Some of my ancestors sailed on the first voyage of the Mayflower.

Fascinating stuff Redsocks but your visions must be a curse and a nightmare. Not prying, but does it affect your sleep and cause insomnia?
I have seen some strange things. My Mum and my sister (RIP) at the centre of strange happenings. My sister and I once noticed a pencil rolling off our table, very slowly. Once it reached the edge it didn’t just drop vertically but sort of hovered in the air for about 6 inches then fell very very slowly. We both looked at each other and my sister screamed in amazement. My Mum just remarked that it was someone on the “far side “ playing games……
I once chased a black guy through Hyson Green flats and me and my Sgt ( a very old school bloke called Dave Greasly) cornered him by a vertical wall. The guy climbed like a spider up the wall, which was smooth cement, about 50 feet, at top speed, effortlessly and reached a walkway never to be seen again. A bit like the scene in “Men In Black” with the alien. I remember Dave saying “ Well, that’s that then. Did you see that? “
Of course, back at the Station we just had the p”ss taken out of us for making excuses in this things escape.

I know its all hogwash to some and they never will experience anything, your imagination can play tricks and may be it has. The most frightening was the gas tanker crash in spain.
Not the same as coppers nous, totally different.
Any one liken or resemblance to any thing mentioned is purely coincidental. Phew got that in.

Socks. If you ever travel to Cornwall on your hols try to visit Bodmin Jail. This is an 18th Century Gaol, which used to conduct its own hangings, now transformed into a tourist attraction. What an 'atmospheric' place that is - but it'll trigger you in a massive way I think.
