I just wonder if Cooper could develope a new role for Yates assuming 3 5 2 system that of an attacking centre half especially with Joe missing for next 6 weeks Assuming midfield 3 will be Garner and Colback with Grabban in the number 10 role behind Davis?

It sounds far fetched but Wilder did it at Sheffield United with his overlapping centre backs and back in the day "Der Kaiser" Beckanbuer did it for Bayern and Germany and Pique for Barca.

Yates certainly has the engine and technique, though Colback and Garner or one of the wing backs would have to drop in in case he lost possession in our half.

Just a thought and Cooper is the sort of manager to give it a try!

Thoughts fellow Reds?

As much as Yates deserves his place in the team, I think his strengths are in the middle of the pitch. Here he closes down space, wins the ball and plays it simple unless he assisting knocking Arsenal out of the cup.

McGoven, mate, bear in mind the Championship is a bit of a drop down from Barcelona and Bayern Munich! But it’s the idea that counts. What do you think?
