Could Glenn Murray be a good short term option as back-up striker. Tyler Walker would learn a lot from him too.

Basically the local rag say he is on the shortlist. At 36 he would obviously be a short term fix to get us out of the division to be followed by a top international when we get promoted.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not for me don't need another Murphy only just managed to get rid of him.

No more OAPs: we've been down that route and it's no good.

Problem is we get the press saying were after 20 players every transfer window, they aren't often right when it comes down to it.
With the scouts that are in place at the club I can't see many home players being signed.

Murray is no Murphy. He has top scored in the Championships with 30 goals so knows where the net is at this level. We only need to get out of this division not play him in the Champions League.

I know most fans are hoping for Dwight Gayle but I'm wary of how much it would cost. Knowing our luck he'd cost us £10M plus wages and get injured for the rest of the season. We could be better signing a couple of players and/ or giving Tyler Walker a chance I reckon.

Hopefully now we'll sign Gayle and Che Adams and win the division but I doubt it somehow.

Murphy was top scorer in 2014/ 2015 season with 27 goals for Ipswich but was awful by the time he came to us.

I don't think we will get Gayle or Adams and personally think we could get a bargain by trying to take a striker from a lower championship team. Maybe someone like Collins from Luton, Chaplin or Woodrow from Barnsley, Bonne from Charlton or even Jutkiewicz from Birmingham. All have proven they can score in this league and wouldn't cost an absolute fortune.

Still more likely we will get someone in from abroad though like most of the players signed in the summer.

Bring walker back having watched him play he's come on leaps and bounds last couple of seasons he scoring goals from all over the place not just from the 6 yard box , I'd leave Gayle at 60 grand a week a bit out of our price range sooner try and get britt back

We never know the actual finances so why as fans do anyone worry about it?
The owners get more in from transfers than they spend and alas waste money at times on bad loans.
But all in all there is a progression and we will get a new stand to replace the last relic.
If someone had told me we would have 43 p0ints by new year at the start of the season with a rookie manager I'd have laughed, so the best Christmas present I've had for a long time is seeing us up there being committed and competitive.

One thing I do know about finance is this. You get a loan and the money is gone. You BUY a player and they have value.

It irritates me people (including Forest reporters) always saying it makes more financial sense to loan a player and develop them for another club and get no return.

Buy a player and develop them. That makes money.

It depends how you look at it, with a loan you can send them back if it does not work out, when you buy, should they fail you are stuck with a player who will go down a league to get rid of provided they will drop wages, or loan with paying most of their wage. If a loan works out you can have a option to buy. There are risks with both.
