Sent too soon, it was Duncan McKenzies game, and for weeks after you couldn't stop smiling. For another performance like that would be magical ?.
Bowler 2 goals, Lyall 1 goal McKenzie 1 of the best goals seen at the City Ground.

Agree4 Disagree0

Nice one Mossy. I was there standing on the old top. Duncan turned em inside out right in front of where we stood. I used to really like George Lyall. He didn't half get stuck in.
Great memories.

My first two Forest heroes Gazz, were Duncan and George. Wasn't happy at all when Sir Brian sold George, and bought John McGovern. Shows what I knew back then, in my defence I was only 8 years old.

Me and my mates would nick off school and go down to the City Ground and wait for the players arriving, you could get into the car park then no security. When McKenzie arrived he would see us, go into the back seat of his car and bring out a football, then he would walk across the car park bouncing the ball from shoulder to shoulder. A showman, a clown but when he received the ball, you thought something magical would happen.

I'm a bit older than you mate.
George broke his leg really badly and was never quite the same player after.
It took Mcgovern time to settle in. and he wasn't that popular at first I recall.

He was never that popular after gazzi
Spurs fans go on about Yates having no talent?
Well mcgovern didn't
If it wasn't fir cloughie mcgovern would never have played at the top level
I remember Southampton and Ipswich fans at wembky saying it's a good we job we only had to to face ten men, cus mcgovern is a passenger in your team
Never rated him at all.

Gazzi I'm a bit older than you and when john Barnwell broke his leg he was never the same
Back in those days a broken leg often meant the end of their careers
Modern technology and medicine make that a rare occurrence now.
