Yes brilliant Rogie, how many points has he saved us?. Like anybody who puts on a fez, they have to say " just like that", I would hope Bowie you did a good Gerry Marsden impression with a rendition of "Ferry cross the Mersey"?.

Cheers reds ??.

20 Mar 2025 08:12:49

Are you still up in Liverpool Bowie? I was on the Mersey Ferry about 2 years ago. Do they still play the eponymous Gerry and the Pacemakers song on a cracked recording as they leave port. Iconic mate.
I don’t know what youve explored up there but Liverpool is a truly great city to visit.
I’d highly recommend the Tate Modern and ( a 20 minute walk into town if your newly repaired legs are up to it) the Walker Art Gallery. Both free and both brilliant. I was very moved by the Stanley Spencer “Resurrection” paintings in the Tate. If you can see them without a tear in your eye for the loved ones who have passed then good luck.
The Churrasco Argentine restaurant in Aisburgh St in the City near the Walker is wonderful but make sure you are hungry because the meat portions are enormous and the sides as much as you can eat, literally.
Have a look at the statue of Captain Frederick “Johnnie” Walker on Pier Head. One of WW2s unsung heroes. Apart from being Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsays Staff Officer and organising the miracle of Dunkirk, he also, virtually single handedly won the Battle of the Atlantic. Took the war to the U Boats and led from the front on his sloops with open to the weather bridges.
Above all, mate, have a great time. Youve earned it! ????????.

??? Bowie and stokie Tate. art gallery for Bowie it will be spoons and whatever pub is near or next to that. he might look like a picasso when he's finished is pub crawl ??.

20 Mar 2025 13:44:39
Skegs ????? ?.

20 Mar 2025 20:29:23
??? skegs, yeah stokey/ mossey they still play gerry and the pacemakers. What a song that was. Along with the history of music.
Only played for around 15 seconds obviously because of royalties.
Been to Liverpool about 6 times now stokey. Me and the good wife love it.
And yeah seen the statue. Some amazing memorials along there, polish airmen etc. Back home now. Tired out.
Thank you for the kind words stokey bud ?.

20 Mar 2025 20:56:09
Btw did you spot the u boat perched up on the seacombe side, front battered? Stokey.

20 Mar 2025 21:00:24
And that's why you get speculation about players purely because they are performing
I think back to The karanka era though and saw how easy it is to get recruitment wrong, marinakis just bought for the sake of it and karanka still wanted more
Backing
Karanka set the club back three years and left us relying on loans to get promoted as the pot had been empty due to financial fair play.

Whoops replied to wrong post Bowie
Previous thread was meant.

?? dtp, to think carvalho 15 million was the brunt of our spending. Seems like yesterday. What would ya get for that nowadays. I had high hopes for the laddie as his first couple games were ok haha. Couldn't even pay Coldplay at half time for that now ?.

20 Mar 2025 22:02:38
Took the mendez gamble and the karanka gamble all in one
Karanka was a fraud of a manager
Got lucky at boro and never done anything since.

21 Mar 2025 01:40:35
I think we paid 15 million for Wood, another player Steve Cooper wanted.

Bowie, mate, I’ve seen that sub from a distance and it’s on my list to visit the next time I go up. I think the U boat that’s sectioned up so you can go inside it ( recovered from the sea bed a few years back) is closed atm.
Liverpool was the HQ for Western Approaches Command, organising the convoys and fighting the Battle of the Atlantic. It’s where Johnnie Walker operated from and went on the counter attack. By the end of the War the German U boats command had 75% casualties, the highest loss rate of any unit on either side I think of around 1000 U boats, only around 120 survived ( and these were either scuttled off the coast of Northern Ireland after surrender or took themselves into Belfast port).
After Walkers tactical innovations the hunters definitely became the hunted.

Brilliant stokey son ??.
