It's a shame that Aina doesn't want to extend his contract. I suppose we haven't lost owt as we got him on a free and he'll leave on a free. Search for a right back in the summer it is then. But they might cost a few quid.
07 Feb 2025 19:46:08
Where have you heard this Polly?
07 Feb 2025 20:16:44
It's all over the press Stokie. Doesn't surprise me. The ultimate betrayal. Fist pumps at Pride Park, then get sacked and off to Notts Country to complete the full set.
??.

He will definitely stay but will cost us, but definitely worth it.
08 Feb 2025 09:31:13
Why let it bother you "Mr Barraclough? "
08 Feb 2025 11:27:09
Crossed wires I think Balloons mate, I was referring to Aina rather than Cooper.
I haven’t seen anything about Aina NOT wanting a new contract at Forest merely that contract negotiations were ongoing and I was just enquiring about Pollys sources.
I’d imagine Aina will be holding out for the chance to play European football next season with the added uplift in salary. I’ve always said I don’t think Forest will be in the top 5 this season but desperately hoping I’m wrong. So far we’ve been lucky with injuries and suspensions as we don’t have the resources of the teams around us at the top. I think we need a bit of luck such as Man City’s FFP problems finally catching up with them or Newcastle getting distracted by their Cup Final, both of which are highly unlikely.
As for Steve Cooper I wish him well, even at Derby. I think if he does go there he may well work the miracle of at least keeping them up even though they are cash strapped. He worked a much bigger miracle for us in getting us promoted and there are still a minority on here who don’t recognise that he is an excellent manager who always has to battle the odds dealt him by poor owner decisions.
Nuno was an upgrade but only because he had the advantage of Premiership football with Wolves. His methods are basically the same as SCs but he has much better players to do it with and a pre season to drill them. Plus a final say on incomings and outgoings and a tight well knit squad unlike the bloated numbers of largely mediocre players foisted on him as with SC.
However, it must be said, replacing him at Leicester with Van Nistelroy has clearly turned their season around... Ermmm!

08 Feb 2025 17:10:22
Ignore em Fred the Nuno dream is alive ?.
08 Feb 2025 17:32:59
Cooper will be another wilder a yo yo manager good in championship crap in premier league. nunos bought the team together and gave them hope in the premiership a lot more than cooper will ever do even if he had a Peter Taylor at his side. i really hope he gets the sheep job ????.

Fred, Mr M is an ambitious owner and, of late, has steadied the ship and made some good decisions. However, he has made some poor decisions in the past which has altered our progress and, at times, made us a laughing stock.
For example, cast your mind back to the 40 ( mostly mediocre ) players he foisted on Cooper or the FFP breach which cost us 4 points and unnecessary pressure on our Premiership status.
Not forgetting the infamous media releases on reffing decisions and ref confrontations in the tunnel.
He’s like the curates egg, mate, good in parts but I think Nuno has indicated strongly how he wants to run the squad and Mr M has trusted him and calmed down a bit. Now he ( and our great club) is reaping the rewards.
08 Feb 2025 18:51:35
Those "mediocre" players included Elanga, Hudson Odoi, Wood, Awoniyi, Aina, Henderson, Williams, Navas, Felipe, Danilo, Murillo and Aurier.
Martin at Southampton, McKenna at Ipswich and Edwards at Luton would no doubt have snapped their owners hand off for players like that.
Indeed Cooper himself at Leicester would also have.
Now heaven forbid I'm not suggesting it was not a mess with the amount coming in but there was a good core of players among it all which Cooper managed to get a tune out of for a season before it all went South.
08 Feb 2025 18:54:36
Well put Stokey.
08 Feb 2025 19:24:40
Agreed stokey, but we've had the run of the green this season. Meaning no harsh refs / var.
08 Feb 2025 19:53:43
Well said red Fred but think it's wasted truth on some.
08 Feb 2025 21:22:26
Fred - I think you're splitting hairs. We gained a few good players out of the majority of mediocre players that we signed with our scattergun-approach to recruitment in the past - spending a fortune in the process and falling fowl of FFP. Luck rather than judgement in some of the quality players we now have I suggest.
08 Feb 2025 21:44:55
Without those signings we'd of been back in the championship, moaning about how we got promoted after 23 years and lasted one season.
08 Feb 2025 21:46:32
Is that not the same as man utd Chelsea and man city legolas have they not done exactly the same thing over the years that's what you do if you want to compete at the top long may it continue just saying tell me I'm wrong ?.
08 Feb 2025 21:58:34
No splitting hairs Legolas.
It's come down the Cooper v Nuno debate again.
Here it is in a nutshell in some posters eyes.
Coopers success was down to Cooper.
Nuno's success is down to the players.
Cooper had no say in transfers and had to play who he was given.
Nuno has a say in transfers and gets to choose who comes in.
I know, total nonsense isn't it?
08 Feb 2025 22:19:25
Fred, mate, Aurier and Felipe were mostly in the physios room and Mr M’s signings also included Turner and Vlach and Muric the worst goalkeepers I’ve ever seen at the CG, Origi, O’ Brien, Santos, Dennis, the Man U and England player who’s name will come to be in a moment, Panzo etc etc. and these are just the players off the top of my head
Their wasted salaries pushed us over FFP and threatened our Prem status. Hardly the actions of a faultless owner I think.
08 Feb 2025 22:36:30
Fred, I disagree. I don’t think it’s Cooper v Nuno. Both are excellent coaches. It’s just that Nuno has enjoyed several advantages not afforded to Cooper as per my previous comments. Not least Premier League experience and the owners sanction to call the shots on recruitment mate.
08 Feb 2025 22:44:24
I like your post Fred, but that is not what I'm implying. Nothing to do with the manager - everything to do with recruitment which, sadly, seems to be the preserve of the owner and his servants nowadays at every club with the manager seemingly only having a small influence on this.
Nonsense indeed mate.
08 Feb 2025 22:47:34
I wonder if Liverpool fans are arguing over the same thing wish would of have had klopp or are we glad we've got slot ?? not like there's much comparison in cooper and klopp but maybe some think there is ??.
