Seems to me that not a lot f planning goes off at the CG.
The club seems to be run on a wing and prayer but fortunately it, s working at the present.
Mr M appears to get quite a bit of good fortune, Steve Coopers miracle and somehow surviving the last two hairy seasons.
Let’s hope that a lot more thinking starts to happen now that things seem much more stable and things don’t turn chaotic again.
Onwards and upwards.
CARLO.

You know Carlo, I don't think the club has been chaotic apart from replacing our most successful manager since Frank Clarke.

PHASE 1 - The Miracle: We spent, appointed the right manager and got promoted.

PHASE 2 - Survive: The owners clearly calculated that with the players who got promoted, we had no chance of survival. If we stayed within fair play, then we would simply drop back to the championships, so the owner decided that we had to spend more money. It worked, and he gambled that a small deduction would not send us down. It worked. It wasn't even a risk, as if we hadn't broken the FFP rules we would have been relegated anyway.

PHASE 3 - Stabilise: They stopped changing the squad as dramatically. For the first time since promotion, we kept the core of the squad (as they were good enough now) and added quality, not quantity.

For me, the system hasn't changed much. We play a low block, counter attacking setup in the main. What has improved is that, firstly, the core players are more experienced at this level (MGW, Murillo, Yates, Dominguez and co. ). We have also added Anderson, James Ward Prowse, CHO and Moreno who are proven at this level. Milenkovic and Elanga are also proven internationals.

Nobody can say with a straight face that new manager or not that results would not have improved as the squad improved in experience, time together and the addition of proven internationals.

PHASE 4: - Europe: We need to wait to see whether the owner and team can see what our weakness is. We don't score enough goals (apart from one player) to qualify for Europe. We need goals from other parts of the pitch (Ward-Prowse was part of that plan for set play goals IMO).

But Carlo, is that chaos, or a calculated strategy?

Nice post cyclist.

01 Nov 2024 16:01:22
Disagree, lot more luck than judgement IMO.
The promotion side needed tinkering not 40 signings, made us a laughingstock, many of them failed.
Interfering with Cooper most of the time, got away with it.
Broke the rules, could have been punished much more severely, got away with it.
Ground development, chaos.
Better signings this time but so easily could have been back in championship, got away with it.
No we, ve rode our luck and thankfully we are now on the up.
CARLO.

I can say with a straight face that the trajectory under Cooper last season was taking us down without a doubt and anyone who says otherwise is living in fantasy land.
Nuno came in and kept us up. Whether you put that down to new manager bounce or the fact he is a more experienced coach is personal choice but there's no denying he did.

Great post as usual red fred.

01 Nov 2024 18:02:56
Redfred, love your posts and told ya now and then. But why cooper bud. IS it a dtp thing. That's not me being funny i'm just asking?

01 Nov 2024 18:19:27
Bowie I've got nothing against Cooper mate but when posters are refusing to give Nuno any credit and think we should have stuck and not twisted I have to point out obvious and show them the errors of their ways.
Read the original post in this thread back again properly.
Paragraph 1, the club were wrong to replace him. Paragraph 6, we would have been doing just as well without changing.
It really is bizarre denial, an outright refusal to give credit where it's due and admit you are wrong summed up in one post ?.

01 Nov 2024 18:32:33
That should have read the first reply to the original post ?.

01 Nov 2024 19:23:40
Thanks for the reply fred. But it always comes over as there ain't no thanks for cooper. Again i know its past but he got us there bud. And tbh i agree on nuno. But also agree he's had a big helping hand. The new signings. Would ya agree? Or think its all nunos tactics.

01 Nov 2024 20:12:07
Bit of both Bowie but does Pep get the credit at City or the owners?

Cooper also had the tools but in the end didn't know how to use them and reverted to desperation in trying to get results. He'd basically run out of ideas yet he had so much credit in the bank some fans refused to see it and some remarkably still do.

Take a close look at the team he put out in his last 2 matches in charge. He would barely play Wood and against Wolves and Spurs played Elanga and MGW up front with Wood and Hudson Odoi on the bench and every other player was defensive.

Nuno put one dud team out (yet still played 2 strikers) and gets chastised for it yet Cooper did it constantly and received no criticism.

01 Nov 2024 20:43:49
Fred, wood only got the recognition because the smiling luv your money assasin was injured as per, who btw wanted away? I've said my thoughts on mgw, got ward prowse now to do a decent job. And anderson who can fire us along. Wolves are a team that like bournemouth for me be brilliant or sh1t. Anything could happen in that game. And i know you know it sir.

01 Nov 2024 21:01:52
Once again red fred spot on.

01 Nov 2024 22:34:37
Once again coopers gone not only as he gone he's gone to fester ?? also when Ipswich turn fester upside down he will be gone from there as well he should of done himself a favour and gone for the Sunderland job another season learning in championship and tried to build on it with a decent team instead he thought he was better than championship now he's going to end up there and no one in premiership will touch him.

02 Nov 2024 00:11:41
Skegs one sentence he did nothing wrong. Next you send him ta hell/ sunderland?

02 Nov 2024 04:09:38
Fred is chatting complete boll X! Hilarious contorting reality like that.

I think I can honestly say with a straight face that I've never read anything so factually inaccurate and disconnected from the truth on this site.

Just astonishing. Delusional.

Reading the above:

You'd think Nuno took over when we were in the relegation places or something.

You'd think Nuno played Wood out of some inspired genius choice (not Awoniyi being injured).

You'd think Cooper had Milenkovic, Anderson, Moreno and Sels.

Wood, Milenkovic, Moreno and Sels are the difference this season. NOT NUNO! Woods only in the side because Nuno was forced to pick him.

Nuno is winning using IDENTICAL tactics to the old boss, with a core of players Cooper nurtured into the team. Cooper bedded those players into playing against the best players in the world without getting relegated.

What Cooper achieved in getting promoted was widely held to be a miracle, as was Forest avoiding relegation.

When Cooper left, Forest were not in the relegation places and once the squad he had been coaching got used to playing together they stayed up, still playing the way he taught them under a new coach.

Cooper is the most successful and best coach Forest have had since Frank Clark.

Put that in your flintstone pipe and smoke it!

Doh! ?.

02 Nov 2024 06:35:45
In other words you still think Nuno is crap and deserves no credit for where we find ourselves?
Keep convincing yourself because your convincing nobody else ?.

02 Nov 2024 06:51:53
Your right we weren't in the relegation zone but were 1 point above it just ahead of Luton and in 17th place.
We were also on a downward spiral of 1 win in 13 games.
Nuno was forced to play Wood? At least he did and didn't play midfielders up top even though Wood was fit.

02 Nov 2024 07:15:42
Forgot to debunk the third paragraph.
Nuno went to Newcastle and won 3-1 and beat Man Utd 2-1 at home with those same players before the new arrivals and not for a ridiculous Boly red card would have got points off Bournemouth in his first match.

02 Nov 2024 11:36:42
The stuff about Nuno being cr4p is a joke to make a point about the ludicrous nonsense certain folk spent months posting about Cooper.

My real opinion of Nuno is that he isn't a terrible manager, but he is definitely no better than Cooper.

Based on the fact that Cooper had a stronger connection to the club's fans, an obvious and deeply rooted love for the club and desire to build the club and that Nuno is no better, I think it was stupid to rock the boat and change bosses.

Your assessment of Cooper is delusional nonsense. I stand by that, and it is obviously wrong if you understand football. I don't think you don't understand football, so I think your assessment of Cooper is based on a personal dislike of Cooper. I think it's emotional and not based on facts/ reality.

Maybe you don't like ugly Welsh men or something? ?.

02 Nov 2024 12:34:51
FYI I actually cried like a baby when he was sacked!
Having considered things though it was entirely the right decision.
For you to say Nuno is no better is astounding when all the evidence points to the contrary. I have no doubt we would have been relegated if the change was not made. We had gone stagnant and he was out of ideas. Like I said check out the last 2 teams he put out and prove me wrong.
What he did was indeed stupendous but all good things come to an end.
And by the way we are playing a far better brand (not the same) type of football now. Maybe the picture on your IPhone through your dodgy stream isn't giving you the whole story ?.

02 Nov 2024 15:36:38
??? cyclist you been on the panda pops.
