Just a few belated thoughts on Saturdays draw.
I'm amazed at worries that Nunos job is on the line! No chance at this stage. Ok, we've "only" got 5 points out of 9, but I think teams like Bournemouth and Wolves will be around us mid table ish come the end of the season unless something unexpected like a run of injuries to key players or unpredictable reffing. Like Bournemouth and Newcastle I thought a draw against Wolves was a pretty fair result on balance.

It was an entertaining game of football, both teams playing some lovely passing football. Sels didn't nothing at all wrong, he seems a calm presence and he was beaten by a worldy of a shot. Murillo and Malenkovic looked composed, Anderson looks a real find, best player on the field imo, MGW coming good, the much maligned Wood a real menace to them all afternoon, unlucky not to get 2 or 3. Not much pace but dangerous in the air and a real goal poacher.

As for the transfer window I'm pleased and encouraged by it. We lost none of our key assets. We gained players who will make a real challenge to the current incumbents of the shirt and it's a small tight and highly talented squad of 25 ish which is what Nuno wanted.

We got rid of some deadwood (like our hapless goalkeeper Turner,) Mighten and OBrian moved on, Worrall (sadly) too. Just Dennis and one hung Lo to be shifted.
Ok, no striker but the top quality ones are as rare as rocking horse ?and expensive. We wisely didn't spend a fortune on a second stringer like Origi. Perhaps players will settle down now the window is closed ( I'm looking at you Taiwo).
So, onwards and upwards COYR! ??.

I have a name for nunos successor Carly Davies ??.

02 Sep 2024 15:00:22
Marco silva is the coach marinakis wants.

02 Sep 2024 15:13:31
The team would always be nicely turned out, and plenty of pop in the changing room ?.

02 Sep 2024 17:09:44
Marco Silva rather have cooper back same defensive coach played worse teams than us this season and on less points than us no thanks keep nuno.

02 Sep 2024 18:39:23
Cooper will free soon, sooner have jolly cooper or long John silver.

02 Sep 2024 19:22:10
Thanks for your assessment of the game Stokey. Unfortunately, I didn't watch the full match as we had friends staying here for the weekend, so I appreciate your feedback.

02 Sep 2024 19:35:35
Great post Stokie. Nuno is going nowhere. Get ya sheets back in the airing cupboard 79 ??.

02 Sep 2024 21:14:01
We will see balloons after the next two games away which I fully expect us to get no points from, then it's Fulham at home, a win would be expected from marinakis
If we lose by the odd goal then that would go down OK, if we lose by a big score then it's win against Fulham or goodbye imo.

Marinakis hasn't spent all this money to see us not win homes games
You've seen him smash tvs last season so he will want to see progress in results this season.

I think Cooper will last longer than nuno, but I hope I'm wrong and nuno comes up trumps, just can't see it though, won't need a bedsheet.

02 Sep 2024 22:04:12
OK ladies, stop pretending Nuno has just started the job. His results are poor and no better than the boss you wanted out. His job is not safe.

02 Sep 2024 22:51:09
Which is my point cyclist
He's won just eight games from thirty, yes its better on the eye but results are what it comes down to and they are any better.

02 Sep 2024 22:57:04
Forget about Nuno. I think we missed a massive opportunity by not signing at least another two goalkeepers in this window.

You must be gutted DTP.

02 Sep 2024 23:11:07
Just the one will do legless?
I'll get my wish in January ?.

02 Sep 2024 23:33:13
If it makes you happy, I hope your dream comes true mate!

Absolutely not needed.

02 Sep 2024 23:48:53
We already have enough keepers of a good class. No need to mend what isn't broken DTP.

02 Sep 2024 23:49:44
No better than the last boss?
Some massive straw clutching going on here again.
Was bought in to halt a horrendous run of results and keep us in the league, mission accomplished.
Had his first preseason with the club and unbeaten in first 3 league games.
Won last 3 away games which is a vast improvement on 2 away wins in the previous season and a half before he was appointed lol!

03 Sep 2024 06:05:02
Spot on Fred you've nailed it there ??.

03 Sep 2024 06:51:45
Don't like to think it, but the general consensus is we will be lucky to get anything from the Liverpool game. Nuno should take a proper assessment of the squad of players he's got, if he picks the same team that he put out against wolves, the coaching staff at Liverpool will have us figured out easier than a four piece puzzle, a draw for Nuno would be good, a win would be brilliant!.

03 Sep 2024 07:49:06
The general rule for sacking coaches is around about 6 defeats on the trot, especially if they are heavy defeats and include exacerbating factors like to local rivals. Very rule of thumb I know but Dyche is half way there plus the bloke at Saints. Sadly :SC is struggling. Got a point at home despite being outplayed by Spurs….
But to be fair, everyone expected these 3 teams to struggle didn’t they?

03 Sep 2024 08:33:47
Unusually for three related teams last season they all stuck with there managers, ( Kompany left on his terms). Think the same thing will happen with Martin at Southampton if relegated, Everton don't have the money in there coffers to sack Dyche, SC works better with players when not going through a third party ( interpertor), so given time he will keep them up.
If behind the scenes we are looking for a new manager/ coach I hope do diligence is used like Brighton, they seen to have a knack at getting the right man. Hurzeler at 31 was on nobody's radar, and so far is doing a great job.

{Ed001's Note - Dyche's contract runs out at the end of the season, they have no need to pay him off if they decide to make a change then.}

03 Sep 2024 08:34:55
Yes Fred but on the flip side nuno has only won two home games since we beat man utd on 30 th December to present day
The three away sheff utd, Burnley and Southampton you expect to win.

03 Sep 2024 08:47:18
In fact Fred his home record including cup games is three wins from seventeen homes games and that includes Blackpool and Bristol City which we drew
Now you have to admit that is very poor.

03 Sep 2024 08:55:37
Point taken Ed001?.

{Ed001's Note - though you would have to think if you were wanting a manager to get your team out of the Championship and into the Prem, Dyche would be right up near the top of the list. So it is not beyond the realm of possibility that they could extend his deal.}

03 Sep 2024 08:55:43
Nice positive thoughts going into two difficult away games. Lost before we even get to the grounds. I know we have to be realistic but come on a little positivity won't go amiss.

03 Sep 2024 08:56:17
Is this the Liverpool that swept man utd to one side at old Trafford yes I'd be happy if we could keep it to a 1 nil loss.

03 Sep 2024 09:14:32
I think we’re better than Man U at the moment,

03 Sep 2024 09:40:11
Yes Fred, his results are no better than the previous boss. If Marinakis didn't think that was good enough under Cooper, the chances are he's going to draw the same conclusion under Nuno.

So far we played a very poor Newcastle (who we didn't beat, arguably due to poor substitutions) and some relegation fodder (two of whom we failed to beat). We've barely won any games at home under Nuno whatsoever. If results improve he will continue to hang onto his job, but hang on is all he has done so far no matter how you try to dress it up.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want Nuno to lose his job, as I want us to win games and not be in the bottom half all season again. On the other hand, if he doesn't improve results soon, Marinakis will remove him.

03 Sep 2024 09:50:47
Do you mean let's just try to keep the score down. If you lose giving it a go, fair enough. But if you lose and thought that we actually with a bit more positivity we could have got something out of the game.

03 Sep 2024 09:51:12
So do I Stevie still going to be a big ask getting any kind of result at anfield but who knows.

03 Sep 2024 10:39:01
If I remember rightly, cyclist we didn't put our best side out against Newcastle and a lot of subs Newcastle put their best out and it has been said in the past 2 seasons by a few above who cares about the league cup it's the league we need to concentrate on ? but now it seems to matter.

Also didn't the poor Newcastle just beat Spurs can't see where you're coming from mentioning the Newcastle game as a comparison on how bad were playing.

03 Sep 2024 14:59:33
Newcastle were useless against us and the subs were bad and were the reason we lost. What part of that was beyond you?

03 Sep 2024 15:00:40
Let's see some wins, especially at home. So far it still hasn't happened, and I'm not holding my breath in case I suffocate.

04 Sep 2024 08:33:21
That would be a shame cyclist.
