Just to add my tuppence worth re last night.
When I heard the team news I thought that we would be in for a drubbing. After 18 seconds I thought here we go, they are going through us like rubbish ? through a goose. But Boly did a captains job and steadied the ship.
Make no mistake, Newcastle wanted this and put a strong team out with a strong bench. We had 10 changes and 4 debutants. It's not Nunos fault we lost the penalty lottery. A brave decision to leave out Murillo, MGW, Wood Yates, Sels, Aina and not starting Elanga and CHO
A great game of open, attacking football by both teams. I'm especially proud of our team last night and it's given Nuno a ( welcome) selection problem for Saturday.
Hats off to Jota, Anderson, Morena, young Moreira, Sosa, Dominguez, Abbott.
Anoniyi will come good. He was knackered after about an hour but that 90 minutes will do him good. Contrary to some posters on here I don't think he carrying a weight problem, he looked physically trim, just not sharp enough match fit wise.
I'm sorry to report though that when I got home to Staffordshire I found the match ball from his penalty attempt in my back garden. ??
All in all, as I say, proud of the lads. We've got a small but high quality squad which is exactly what Nuno wanted. There is a lot of talent in there and I'm increasingly optimistic about this season. Coyr! ??????????.

Hi Stokey in total agreement barring the Awonyi situation.
He looked dejected, unfit and uninterested last night.
You could sense before his penalty it had miss all over it.

Nuno picked the penalty takers. Awoniyi should not have been on the pitch. Who wants a striker clearly completely devoid of confidence on the pitch when you're trying to win a game and heading for penalties. The buck stops with Nuno.

Ripley, mate perhaps he ll settle down and roll his sleeves up when the transfer window closes at which time he will realise which side his bread his buttered on if motivation is indeed his problem. I personally just think it’s confidence and match fitness which will change for the better when he firstly displaces Woody as first choice and/ or gets his first goal this season.
Perhaps his agent has unsettled him with potential suitors? If that’s really the case then he can go with my blessings ( and a suitable fee).
But, it could just be a blip in his form and fitness as I say. Remember the old adage that form is temporary and class is permanent…….

Oh, and the substitutions were hardly those of a tactical genius.
Nuno has done enough to keep his job so far. Apart from that, the jury is still out.

Good points but some flash of quality doesn't make you a Prestige player. as an example take a look at Italian Supercars. great to look at and have all the toy's but are totally unreliable.

Hey cyclist it's been a very long time since we've had a tactical genius at forest it's all about results and he's getting them that's all that matters.

It looked like Nuno was going to sub Awoniyi last night, until a couple of players pointed out Anderson could bearly walk.

Bit strong on nuno pscholist surly you'd expect a forward to get within 5 yards of the onion bag?
