Early days I know, however we seem to have a really good squad of players. We have the talent that can influence the game from the bench. With the modern game that is massively important. As Glen Hoddle said just because you are on the bench doesn’t make you less of a player than those who start. If we manage to bring in a young mobile, quick thinking striker and get Awonyi firing on all cylinders again it will be exciting times to come.

This is not a relegation fighting squad. Far to much talent.11 players who have never played a match together matched a near full strength Newcastle (richest club in the world). I take a lot of stick on here with my predictions (rightly so some will say ?) But I will repeat them because as usual they are all bearing fruit.
We will achieve a comfortable mid table finish
Nuno is a great manager who plays attractive attacking football and a massive upgrade on Cooper
Awoniyi is a total waste of a squad number. Finding someone mug enough to buy him will be near on impossible ?.

ATM Awoniyi is miles off but he can improve. Saying that I’m still not fully convinced by him. He scored the goals to keep us up at the end of our first season back and maybe I’m still hoping there is a player in there. When fit he can cause problems but I’ve mentioned before he doesn’t even seem strike the ball well. We need a fast mobile striker to suit Nunos style of play. Unfortunately Wood and Awoniyi aren’t those players.

The only way we will finish mid table is if we score a few when we are on top in the first half of games and that's not jyst down to the striker, other players have to score as well
I agree with Fred that our fitness levels aren't good enough to last 90 mins and I think stevie f has got it right in saying we press so hard it's impossible to keep doing it for 90 mins
We tend to concede sloppy goals still, hope your right balloons but a long way to go yet,
On awoniyi he's not fit yet and will come back firing again like he did first season, give the bloke a chance.

How many chances does Awonyi Need?
He's shot, unfit and can't be arsed to play.
The best thing he did last night was to cover his Smirking mug with his top.

DTP I said in another post on here Awonyi looks overweight, he looks like a man who hasn’t had a pre season. Last night we were bound to fade towards the end, a lot of lads who hadn’t had regular football recently,

Has Elanga put on a bit of flesh to keep up with Awoniyi? Seems slower to me!

It would be great if we could keep a squad of players like these together for at least four years. we might even lose a first team player in this transfer window closes?, but to keep with in the unfair PSR rules we will have to sell, just like wolves, palace, Everton eventually!.

A mid table position is there for the taking but that will not come while when we are on top we don't finish the opposition off and that's been like that for a few years now.

I don't think Awoniyi is overweight but he's definitely unfit. Didn't have much pre season because he was surprisingly injured.

Even though we lost last night, I think Nuno made the right choice in giving the guys not in the starting lineup currently, a chance to show where they are with fitness and determination to get into the first 11. We gave Newcastle a good go and perhaps should of won, now we have a good problem to have with a massive game with Wolves, we had 10 players that showed they want a place in the team and can do a job apart from awonyi who is not ready. Hopefully after international break he will get back to his old self.
