My daughter was travelling by train yesterday from Oxford to Leeds.
At Birmingham a load of Leeds fans got on and their behaviour was an utter disgrace. Every swear word under the sun despite children present. Alcohol and gang protection fuelled morons. Threatening people until they were forced to move from their seats.
Of course no member of staff confronted them. Only my daughter and one other woman said anything. They picked on one particular moron who cowered away. Pathetic and so typical of that club. They all got off at Wakefield.
Is their anyone on this site who goes to away matches on the train and can tell us how our fans behave.

Agree2 Disagree0

The young one's a nightmare these day's coked up n no respect for elders or any awareness of who around them.

18 Aug 2024 16:09:00
I don't it's synonymous with a particular club. Just alcohol fuelled idiocy.

18 Aug 2024 16:13:42
Sorry to hear of that nightmare mate.
We had the same problem on a flight to Spain. idiots caused problems the whole flight. crew done nothing.
However when they got off, and got their suitcases. they decided to start swinging them round. trying to catch each other on the leg.
Then much to my delight I heard a loud SNAP!
One of them had broken his mates legs. of course a completely different situation. pleading with those same passengers they tortured to "Help my mate pleeeease! He need help! "
I just told him to "Piss off! "
Absolute scum.

Don’t use the train much for that very reason Gazzi.
BTP ( British Transport Police ) suffered the same cuts in numbers as every other Force under the Tories.

18 Aug 2024 16:56:38
Stokey never mind looks like things are getting much better now under your mate,

18 Aug 2024 17:52:13
Stokey, I’d argue that other way, the woke society that’s been created by all parties is the epitaph on rectitude. We should not need police swarming everywhere just to make people behave.

In any case funny how agile and swiftly the authorities seemed to act with protestors last week and the length of sentences handed out are completely disproportionate. The country is a joke and when it’s in the best interests of political sway the police seem to have ample resources don’t they?

18 Aug 2024 19:09:51
Stevie, I have nothing but contempt for all the present day party leaders, just stating a statistical fact about Police numbers.
These days, mate, u might as well vote for Monster Raving Looney……
Or Rick Astley, whether he’s standing for Parliament or not. He’s never going to let you down…. ☺️.

18 Aug 2024 20:13:52
Stokey, I think our contempt for them is more than outweighed by their contempt for us, but i'd better be careful what I say, i might get a knock on the door from the ‘ thought police’.

18 Aug 2024 20:38:27
Thanks for your answers guys. They seemed to alter course a bit.
So nobody on here goes to away matches on the train and we don't know how our supporters behave. Thanks anyway.

18 Aug 2024 21:09:23
I do empathise with a lot of the above comments. I would say, however, that if you think this country is a joke then emigrate. I think about it seriously at times. It's only my kids and grand-kids that keep me and Mrs Legless here.

I was in basic training in 1990 with a guy who emigrated to New Zealand shortly after serving his 22 years in the Brit Army - he often tells me that this country is 'broken'. I can't argue with him on that point.

18 Aug 2024 21:59:11
2 Stars you are entirely right about the disintegration of the moral fibre and rectitude of our once great country. They say a fish rots from the head downwards and that’s certainly true of our so called leaders.

I truly dread a serious test of this country such as a war for example. I fear for the future of my ( grown up) kids and 4 year old grandson and grand daughter to be born in December ( ????).

And don’t even get me started on the power of the State when it’s threatened internally or externally.

Look mate, I joined the Police in February 1979. Up to that point the Police were so poorly paid many of their kids were on free school meals etc. Thatcher was elected that year after Sunny Jim Callaghan and the first thing she did was instigate the Edmund Davies Report which upped Police pay massively and increased as per the inflation rate, at that time around 10%.

Suddenly Police Numbers increased drastically, first class equipment and training were brought in. And the reason…….

Because she knew, being the astute politician she was, that her policies would cause division and riots then the Miners would strike. The power of the state crushed both ( Toxteth, Orgreave etc).
It’s the same now…….

18 Aug 2024 23:40:10
I know a few policemen from your era stokey and they are all inspiring folk, I think the pride has gone from the job now and thus those joining are very different in mentality.

18 Aug 2024 23:57:37
Stokey plus the fact the miners were led by a fool, who led them straight into the trap that Thatcher set for him,

19 Aug 2024 07:42:48
Gazzi I've been to many games away on train, our fans are no angels and I've never understood how you can drink on a train going to a match but not on a bus.
Sometimes it can appear worst than it is because of chanting.
I catch train in everygame and if its a nortern side its a bit rowdy, as a lot of forest fans on aswellbut not seen any trouble
Coke does have a lot to answer for aswell as drink.

19 Aug 2024 08:03:37
When the government sell their morals to the likes of Saudi Arabia and Qatar (who both act counter to our alleged morals i.e support terrorist groups and don't respect peoples human rights) how do you expect the people to have any morals? Money trumps morals.

19 Aug 2024 09:02:13
Yes DTP, fans chanting who have rotting teeth can be very intimidating can’t it!
…. ?.

19 Aug 2024 09:49:55
True Polly my friend, but Saudi Arabia, Quatar, the Emirates etc support “our” terrorists. ??.
What did Machiavelli say in “The Prince “?
“Sometimes you have to sup with the Devil” and
My enemies enemy is my friend”
Statecraft is a very dodgy game and always has been mate. We have been at it a long time …….

19 Aug 2024 09:59:44
Gazzi, to go back to your original question I would nt ever use the train to get to Reds games as they are too unreliable and I pay a lot of money for season tickets.
I would like to see the Railways renationalised. It’s a ridiculous situation where the tax payer subsidises private railway companies for around 75% of their “income “and they still pay out dividends! Only Railtrack don't pay out dividends and guess who owns the tracks the trains run on? Yep, the Government ie Railtrack. Just crazy and doctrinaire ie public money converted to private money and the risk underwritten by me and you as taxpayers. One of Thatchers brilliant ideas……
I’ve just started reading a book about British Rail by Christian Wolmar, a railway expert, adviser and transport columnist. Talk about “gravy train “…….

19 Aug 2024 11:13:07
Stokey I got 200 plus books in my place I dread to think how many you’ve got ?.

19 Aug 2024 11:32:23
ISIS and Al-Qaeda are not 'our' terrorists, Stokey. They attack the western nations and are the groups that get funded by the Saudi's and Qatar. The terrorists that Iran support and fund don't attack us, however.

19 Aug 2024 13:14:48
It’s a tangled web Polly certainly. You can get killed in the Middle East just for being the wrong type of Muslim. Most of “our” home grown terrorists are weak minded brainwashed losers radicalised online, sometimes by British based Muslims. We mustn’t forget that Osama Bin Ladin was our staunchest ally and a Saudi when he was fighting the Russians in Afghanistan and but became Public Enemy Number 1 after 9/ 11, then found shelter with our “allies” in Pakistan. But I’m sure our excellent Foreign Office knows what it’s doing………. ??.

19 Aug 2024 13:20:33
Stevie, my wife is leading a campaign to get me into the present century and read books online on this kindle thingy. The thing is she’s an English Literature graduate as well so she can’t work past a bookshop either…. ??.

19 Aug 2024 13:34:21
A bloke in the pub went to the world cup in the middle east, said he had to enter Oman, to get into Qatar. I said couldn't you just show your passport?.

19 Aug 2024 13:55:41
Stokey I’m a dinosaur too mate, online books aren’t for me, nothing beats holding a real book in your hands,

19 Aug 2024 17:51:46
A tangled web of hypocrisy and double standards, Stokey.

19 Aug 2024 19:40:51
Polly, if you are referring to my wife’s book banning campaign then I must insist on us meeting at dawn with seconds and pistols at a location of your choice when I shall demand satisfaction of you for your rudeness sir! ?????
However, if you are referring to politics ( as I strongly believe) May I refer you to David Blunketts stint as Foreign Secretary in the Blair Government of the early 2000s, when he introduced the concept of an Ethical Foreign Policy, commonly called “ The Third Way”?
It lasted about ten minutes, such is the world we live in sadly mate …….

19 Aug 2024 19:57:04
I love the first bit of your post, Stokey. Made me laugh quite loudly whilst reading it.

19 Aug 2024 21:02:31
Been reading too much Patrick O Brian mate. I always see myself as Lucky Jack Aubrey ( played perfectly by Russell Crowe in “Master and Commander”). ??The challenges to a duel were always done with impeccable politeness. None of this “Come on, if you think you’re hard enough” nonsense.
It was always like an invitation such as “Sir, I can be found at the Dog and Bear between midday and 1pm should you wish to take this further”! ??.
