Well, comrades, let's spare a thought for our esteemed and courageous friend Legless currently battling tremendous odds to get to the top of a Welsh mountain. Just heroic by anybody's standards! ????????.
04 Aug 2024 10:34:43
Yes mate. Herculean effort by him.
04 Aug 2024 11:33:13
If its Snowdon you can catch the train for a score ??.
04 Aug 2024 12:01:23
I've heard the batteries on these electric all-terrain wheelchairs aren't that good.
04 Aug 2024 12:06:12
What a guy Snowden is. Legend of a man.
04 Aug 2024 23:08:32
Stokey comrades?
The police force you left aren't being helped by your men in red
They are lambs to the slaughtered under sir kerr
Must be a tough one that to fathom out?

DTP, mate, I guess the term “Comrades” does have certain unfortunate connotations….
My sympathies are, as you might expect, entirely with the Police. Attacked from all sides and from the charlatans of all parties who run the country or have run the country. So, the Police are institutional rascists yet have their bones and noses broken defending Mosques. They can’t win. However, as my first Divisional Commander ( a Geordie of the Okd School) told me when I joined “ you will be attacked from all sides but you are not there to keep everyone happy just to enforce the law without fear or favour. Remember, ( and this phrase has always stayed with me) our shoulders are broad and we can bear it”.
The Tories ran Police numbers down and Teresa May as both Home Secretary and PM was a disaster. She always bore a grudge when she was once booed at a Federation Conference. We can see the results if that now.
Starmer hasn’t impressed me either early doors. His propaganda launches into right wing extremist thuggery for the latest troubles, ignoring the genuine grievances which has fanned the flames. Obviously I condemn the violence and the exploitation of these grievances by the EDL but, in my experience, the extreme left wing are just as odious. However he is unable to condemn them as the Corbynites in his own party will split them. Having policed several riots ( including the pre EDL British National Party match in Corby I can tell you that a house brick thrown into your face hurts just as much no matter which side throws it.
By the way Starmers announcements of the brilliant “new “ideas to firstly get Police Forces to come to each others assistance has been going since Sir John Peel was a lad. In my day it was called “Mutual Aid”! DOH! How else can a Police Force of 170, 000 Officers control a population of 68 million but by consent and targeting resources at hot spots.
Secondly, the formation of Violent Disorder Units. In my day they were called Police Support Units (PSUs) and every Officer was trained in riot control. Again DOH!
He likes his squads doesn’t he? Like the new Stop the Boats Special Command Border Force which will meet exactly the same problems as the previous Government encountered.
By the way, no new money for any of these “initiatives “.

Stokey a police force or ‘service ‘ can only really police if it has the confidence and support of the population, this has been eroded for many, as the majority watch the police running away in Leeds whilst buses are torched and businesses looted, yet on a different day, against a mob who the government hate, we see dogs Horses and baton s used, people see this as two tier policing, and see the police as the enemy, and only fans the flames to more problems. Like you I have experience of this job, only mine was across the water, , one or two others on site, might have experience too, but most who comment, won’t really have a clue, because they have never had a brick or a bullet in their direction, and it can be a life changing experience, or in the very worst case scenario, life ending.
05 Aug 2024 13:30:26
Well, you say that Stevie, but the latest Polls suggest that 65% of the population support the Police which is actually a drop of 5% since last year. That’s a higher approval rate than most Public institutions like the NHS, the Post Office, Railway companies etc a nd a figure that the organisations that criticise the Police like politicians and the Press can only dream of ( they are in single figures). I think only the Royal Family and the Armed Forces regularly outscore the Police mate.
The policing by consent model is still strong hence we have an unarmed civilian Police Force with none Military ranks ie Inspectors, Superintendents, Constables etc rather than Captains, Colonels and Generals
It’s all down to the Peterloo Massacre but don’t get me started on that ……. ???.
05 Aug 2024 14:27:04
Stokey I’ve never trusted polls mate, but even if accurate, a 35 % minority can make a lot of hard work,
05 Aug 2024 14:46:45
I’ve always supported the police, as a firearms holder I once had a problem with a builder insulting my wife, the police were there in 3 mins. There’s nothing wrong with the police it’s the clowns who manage them.
05 Aug 2024 15:41:04
I think the police should just stand back and let them fight they can't win either way why get hurt because of them a#£-soles and if your there your part of it so stay away if you can it will split over into the football matches next the hypocrites that cheer when a black player scores then racially slag them off later mindless dirtbags.
05 Aug 2024 16:35:53
I’m a bit more worried about the dirtbags that can murder three babies at a dance school, and sit smirking in court about it, they’re the ones that worry me.
05 Aug 2024 16:41:16
You are dead right Stevie…. Sir Kier has got a 175 seat majority on 33% of the vote. As Churchill said “Democracy is undoubtedly the worse system of Government, apart from all the others systems which have been tried from time to time”…….
05 Aug 2024 16:48:08
Stokey nobody can have any complaints about the system, it’s been the same for everyone for ever, proportional rep, sounds like a great idea in theory, but more often than not leads to a stalemate, where no one can govern.
05 Aug 2024 17:48:10
I’m not moaning Stevie it is what it is mate. Anyway I’m hearing now that Sir Kier is creating a “ Standing Army” of Violent Disorder Specialist Officers. I think they should be called “Fast Action Response Teams” or FARTs for short.
Also Evette Cooper is warning rioters of serious consequences for their actions. Perhaps somebody could advise the Home Secretary that sentencing is done by a judiciary of magistrates and judges who are entirely independent of the Governments wishes and will probably give them a slap on the wrist.
Even if they go to jail ( and I would welcome prison sentences personally) her department would have to release hundreds of hardened criminals to make room for them. Still, at least we have a selection of criminals walking freely in our streets, not just rioters, but burglars, robbers and sex offenders.
05 Aug 2024 19:34:08
Stokey Yvette cooper has always been a hypocritical plank, in common with most other politicians.
05 Aug 2024 21:09:55
I don't trust polls either, Stevie f. They come over here stealing our jobs. Stealing our woman. Stealing our rights.
05 Aug 2024 21:19:22
Agreed Stevie mate. Our great country deserves better leaders.
05 Aug 2024 23:42:39
Polly from what I’ve seem they can steal our women as long as we can have some of theirs , ?.
06 Aug 2024 06:14:23
Amen to that Red brother.
