Nice to be back at the WFCG. Enjoyed the game, surely the friendliest of friendly match's with neither team ( understandably) pitching in gung ho so near the start of the proper season.
Allowing for that, we looked at least equal to a skilful Villarreal side that are an established European competitions team and upper La Ligue.
Pleased to see Taiwo get a few minutes and Woody worked his socks off as usual, unlucky not to score in the first half.
Interesting insight into Nunos team selection. Obviously Sels will start first choice keeper. Apart from the penalty he didn't have much to do.
Glad that Murillo is getting his clumsy challenges in the penalty area out of the way before the real action starts
The Serbinator Milenkovic looks a find, one of those defenders who are all elbows here, knees there, intimidating but can play as well.
A bit sorry to see Richards not in the mix but in Nuno we trust. Thought he looked good pre season.
Also ( and a n massive plus this ) Sanghere looks like he's coming to the party at last. We'll see if he can cope with the hurly burly of the Prem. Really hope so, he has all the technical skills and physique. Let's see if he has the heart to go with it
Flexible in formation too which is a plus also Nuno has them playing on the front foot from the off. The signs are good. ?????.

Very good appraisal mate.

I'm optimistic about the coming season as well, StokeyRed. The signs are definitely looking good. I still think we could do with another one up top.

I'm more than optimistic
When we got promoted we had 8 players pretty worthless in the transfer market, now we have a squad worth many millions and a competitive squad
Great window, don't read things into last night's result, it's a friendly with both teams playing tippy tappy stuff.

Fatima Whitbread looking like Lou Feringo?
Now that's not funny Polyred. its HILARIOUS!

I agree with you Polly about another striker. But we don’t really know the medical state of play with Taiwos injury. He did look trim the other night which is a good sign, though he is obviously short of match fitness. It’s a Nuno call on his prospects.
What we do know is that Woody is 33 and in the twilight of his career who probably can’t do a full season of being kicked from pillar to post up top. I speak as one of his admirers but, as they say, time waits for no man.
A third striker ( Nuno only ever plays one up top) would cost a fortune and may not want to come to Forest if he’s going to be third choice. It’s a tricky one certainly…….

Stokey it’s interesting you think sangare has the technique to perform in the prem, I think exactly the opposite, his first touch is a pass, he looks cumbersome and clumsy to me. I believe we should cut our losses and get rid personally, he’s another carvallho, because he cost a lot of money, some fans are clutching at straws. He bullied with a strong team in a weak Dutch league, then people get there hopes up over a couple of decent performances against a recent non league team chesterfield, and a Spanish 2nd div team Elche, in my humble opinion, he’s too slow and cumbersome to make it here,

Spot on Stevie couldn't agree more.
Cut and run ?.

Thanks, Rogie. She did though.

Interesting point Stevie, I know he divides opinions and hasn’t been at his best so far but I think he ll come good. If not, we have some good midfield options to challenge him like Yates, Danillo, Dominquez. We will soon find out mate if he’s up to it….

Great post stokey. Another winger and striker and I think we're good. Hard to find someone decent in either position that would come ready to play second or third fiddle. I don't understand peoples judgement on Sangare, he's had 6 months of prem football with an AFCON to contend with. This season will determine if he can show signs of improvement. Imo he could become a very solid enforcer if he is willing to be physical. Really like out depth in the middle and back half of the pitch. The problem is we are 2-3 injuries away at the front from be up s. t creek as far as goals are concerned.

Sydred I’m basing my assessment of sangare on tne fact that he looks incapable of controlling a football under little or no pressure, so when these high press prem teams set about him I’m pretty sure his “ technique “ will be found wanting.
