Anyway, my wife crashed her car yesterday. She told the Police that the man she crashed into was on his mobile phone and drinking beer from a can. The Police Officer told her that he could do what he liked in his own back garden. ??

Gazzi, mate, I’ve always liked having a laugh before and after retirement. With some of the things I’ve had to see and do if you didn't laugh you’d bloody cry! Most of the cops I worked with thought the same. I admit some Police humour is unique to say the least. ??.

Personaly I think it's bl##dy hard being a copper today, being filmed on mobiles when making an arrest, so many minefields policeing every Ism going, I prefer a Police Force not a Police Service.

Stokey, fortunately I've had very little contact with the police over the years and on a couple of occasions, they have been brilliant unfortunately on one occasion the copper involved made a complete hash of things causing much grief to my family. He was suspended for it and when I saw him off duty a few years later, he bought it up again and was a complete A hole. I contacted the police who did nothing about it second time round, citing lack of time and funding.

Gazzi, Sounds as though you had a mixture of the good and the bad mate. It happens in all walks of
life. I obviously don’t know or want to know the details but it sounds unfortunate to say the least.
Vespa, I agree entirely about Police Force rather than Service. The Police aren’t there to please everybody but to enforce the law without fear or favour.
I was offered “advice” by a Senior Officer once ( which I declined to accept) for replying to a question at a “workshop “ about what were the core functions of the Police and I said there was only one which was to put bad people in prison. Apparently that wasn’t the correct answer……. ??.

My mate does VIP protection. Politicians, visiting dignitaries etc. Obviously armed. They're all gutted that they don't get to use 'the *u** off round'. Not copper humour but absolutely serious?
That said, I'd pay grown-up up money to be locked in a room with Southport boy and a chainsaw.
