Now some questions please
1. Is 3 at the back and two wing backs. the best defensive formation for England and Forest ie park the bus
2. Who are those 3, I suspect Walker will be Englands 3. Is that a good thing to put a defensive right back in your back 3.
3. Is Southgate = SC. SC got a lot of
stick from parking the bus. Did it keep us in the premier league?
4. Nuno doesn't tend to go for a back 3, yet his results were no better, yet most think that Nuno's teams played more attractive football to watch
5. Is Kane not scoring many goals for the same reason as the forwards at Forest don't
ie Sako and Foden want to score themselves so don't frequently centre for Kane to score
6. Will Gordon ever get a game - I suspect not
7. Is Nuno fixed about certain players who will never change? I don't think so unlike SC and GS. It was a problem for SC and most def GS. It's true though whoever criticism SC got or GS if they get the end result does it matter.
I suspect SC will get results with Leicester with the same philosophy
Good luck to England and GS - whatever he does he seems to get the players on his side who then play for him.
I think the parallels between GS and SC are strong. I cannot see the FA ever going for a different type of manager to GS ie a likely no to a manager born outside of shores.
So a shoe in for SC - one day.

Interesting points Doc but it’s built on a false premise which is that 5 at the back is a defensive ie park the bus scenario.
It’s actually ( if you have the right players ) an attacking or counter attacking springboard with the insurance of 3 at the back. Those 3 centre backs need to be ball winners and ball players, confident and skilled enough to step into midfield and set attacks off Think Murillo at Forest and Rodri plus Stones at Man City.
Then quick wingbacks bombing in down the flanks like Walker or dare I say it Ged Spence.
With 2 wide midfielders like Palmer and Foden, Kane should be getting plenty of opportunities. I actually think he’s been playing too deep for England.
Whether that’s GS coaching or Harry using his initiative wrongly I don’t know…….

Lost my wonderful dog last night, had to be put to sleep, due to a 'Spinal Stroke" which he suffered on Sunday. completely out of the blue.
It was a Blessing, an honour, and an absolute privilege to have owned you "Hutch".

3 at the back is not a defensive formation. It is a good counter attacking formation if played right.

Interesting post doc, but you say the FA would never go for manager outside our shores. But in international years (if ya get my drift ?) wasn't too long ago we had capello / erikksòn and revie from muppet land.
