We need to stop spending. Cooper needs to work with what he's got and see if he can't galvanise these new recruits. We have brought in some decent players and I'm sick of the click bait surrounding us on the net. It's embarrassing the doubt around players like awonyi, mangala, obrien. Though I did say that mangala stats last season were poor. But other than unsettling players at prem level and paying buckets for them we have enough quality, on paper, to put up a decent showing. I see little point in keep on recruiting until we see what the current squad can do over a prolonged period. They and cooper need and deserve that. Players like mgw will end up being sold close to the window closing for more reasonable prices. We only want players to come in that feel it's a good career move not the gold diggers. So what if we struggle early doors that's expected. The other two that went up automatically are equipped, we're not and that's the play offs for you. Cooper was hailed for bringing out the best of players last season, let's give him time to do similar on a level above and beyond.

Marinakis can afford it so why worry.
He would have splashed the cash like man City did to get out of the championship but ffp has stopped him.
Leave it to the professionals I say.

We can't stop recruiting now. We only have one LWB if Richards is out until after the world cup. Another MF and attacker are needed. Going into the season without enough players would be madness.

It's easy to forget how many players have left.

Rutland we are short of cover especially at left back if Omar Richards injury is going to be a lengthy one and we’re also short of strikers who can succeed at premiership level we have awonyi and surridge that’s it and if either of them get injured or struggle to score goals at this level, then we’re stuffed and relegation would be a certainty, same goes for midfield we’re too light weight we need a kioyote in the middle to boss the game and allow the likes of awonyi to push on, we also need a creative attacking midfielder too, Steve cooper is no fool Rutland why do you think he’s said we need at least another 3 or 4 players not because he likes spending money for fun……it’s because that’s what he thinks our squad needs to be competitive within itself to add competition for places within the squad and to give us a chance to be a force in the premiership.
We have no choice but to bring players in and that costs money, so I’ll agree and stand by coopers assessment of what we need to do.

Guys the point is yes we can bring in more players but the team needs a chance to perform. Let’s see us in the next half dozen matches and then draft in what we really need. 12 players in some not good enough already It’s almost like promotion came too soon for this club, which in reality it did. But we’re here and need to get on. For me the team needs fielding for better or worse identify a pattern of play then slot players in gradually. The team will soon feel uneasy if we keep shipping players in before we even get to the end of August. Yes the team needs strengthening but it needs doing gradually from now on. Cooper needs to do his job. We need cover agreed but who is going to sign feeling that they are just cover players or are we looking as what we bought so far is not good enough?

10 Aug 2022 08:03:09
How can you say that some aren't good enough after one game away from home.

10 Aug 2022 09:48:08
79 you’ve read my previous posts at no point have I said the new players aren’t good enough. The question mark is irony regarding the people on here and cooper. We’ve not seen them yet bar one away game and I said then keep calm and give them a chance….

10 Aug 2022 10:18:26
12 players in and some not good enough is what you have put mate.
The pattern of play will stay the same.
You need a 25 man squad especially now you can use five subs and we haven't got that so we have to carry on spending
We've offloaded all the deadwood and sent a few out on loan to cut the wages for new recruitment only arter and lolley to move on now.

10 Aug 2022 10:18:57
I don’t think Rutters is saying there not good enough after just one game Fff79, I think he’s saying why are we bringing in more players if what we have is good enough………my apologies if I’m wrong Rutters as I don’t like putting words in anyones mouth.
I think cooper wants more players in the squad to make it more competitive, to push the players that we have even harder to preform and keep there places.
I think any player that does come in is not only cover but has just as much chance to stake a claim to a starting position as anyone in the squad, as it’s who preforms best in training and on the pitch that starts.
Like I said we won’t know how good any of our new players are until about 10 games in, but more players and more competition can only be good for the team’s improvement going forward.

Agree with you that we need to give the new players time to bed in and show what they can do.

I have seen some horse rubbish on here though. I'm sure one lad said we were weaker than last season.

GK: Samba out for Henderson = Upgrade
CD: Figs out for Niakhate = Upgrade
RWB: Spence out for Williams and Biancone (CD cover too)
LWB: Crock out for Omar Richards and Toffolo = Upgrade
CMF: Garner out for Mangala and O'Brian = Upgrade (more to come? )
AM: Zinc out for Lingard = Upgrade
STR: Davis Out for Awoniyi = Jury still out but Davis is a crock risk
STR: Grabban out for?

So apart from RWB, by the time we bring in another striker and left sided attacker freeing up Lingard to play CM as well if we want (where he has played in a world cup semi final! ) I don't know where the idea that we are weaker comes from, but it simply isn't true.

We might have looked weaker in the first game when we were away at one of the toughest places to play in Europe, but most teams will. But we haven't filled all the gaps in the squad yet and the players have not had time to adapt to each other and a new way of playing.

The same team would look weaker now. Why? Because we are playing at a much higher level. The only way to play at a higher level than the Prem is getting to the last 8 in the Champions League. Any team will look weaker against world-class opposition.

If we can recruit one more CM player, a LWB at least until Xmas, another STR and possibly a LAM/ LF (or a striker who can play there ideally, we will have a squad of 25 good players. Then the manager has to get the team in order. Rome wasn't build in a day.

About right jolly. The thing is clubs bung £10 to £20mil on any player we show interest in. So back off as these clubs are mainly trying to off load and get big currency for unestablished players. We have enough for now let’s test them injuries happen so deal with them if they happen

10 Aug 2022 11:56:52
Well Cooper and Murphy disagree so I'll trust them to do the right thing and make the right choices
We simply haven't got enough players.

10 Aug 2022 16:06:15
RedCyclist - every up grade you have put up are unproven . Whereas the players who were loaned were proven. Example Henderson for Samba . Samba we know well and was the best championship goalie but unproven in the premier ship . Henderson could not get past De Gea and was loaned out to Sheffield Utd. So he is unproven. There are many on this site who have supported Forest for 40 yrs plus, especially familiar with the ins and outs of players recently . We all want these new players to demonstrate their skills, vis a vis Nico, Obrien and Tuffulo . These 3 have each demonstrated their abilities. All will have their names on the team sheet for Sunday. However expect Cook and Surridge on that sheet. It may seem ridiculous to suggest but if Yates is fit will he play instead of Linguard?

10 Aug 2022 19:19:30
Doc M. More nonsense. Sorry.

I'm not going to waste my energy explaining to you why a world cup semi-final player is an upgrade on Zinc. That Yates is not a replacement for Lingard anyway, so you're chatting nonsense.

If you think this squad is weaker, then you must think Cooper and Murphy are pretty stupid (£85M) . I'll tell you now they aren't and the squad is stronger and recruitment is not finished yet.

And none of the players on loan who left are proven at this level. Get real.

10 Aug 2022 19:38:06
Doc that was the championship not the Premier.

10 Aug 2022 19:53:32
Doc your spreading poison ???.

10 Aug 2022 20:30:55
I’d say Henderson proved himself in the prem with sheff u doc. On paper the squad is stronger but that doesn’t guarantee it’ll gel I guess.
